    Great video. Saved me a lot of money and time dealing with Chevy. Only cost me $40 and a hour of patience. Didn't even have to use a drill to get the old one off. Just used a flathead screw driver and popped it right off without a problem. Only hard part was trying to get the door handle hooked to the cord that makes it open but after about 10 minutes and a lot of banging I got it to work perfect. Amazing video and I know absolutely nothing about cars and I fixed my own.

    Great video! I did this a couple years ago on my 2006 HHR and it worked great. Now the cable has snapped off at the handle! Any tips on how to replace the cable? That would be a good video,too.

      Should be easy to figure out after the door panel is off. Good Luck.

    Good video. Everything went super EXCEPT, and there is ALWAYS an EXCEPT when working on cars, I was testing the connections before I snapped the panel back on and the door-lock button would lock and unlock the door but when locking the door the monkey peter would jump back up and the door wouldn't stay locked. I manually pushed the monkey peter down and it stayed. I was running out of daylight so I decided to fight that battle another day and put the door back together. When I was all finished I tested everything and the door remained locked! I don't know what that was about but hopefully it stays fixed.
    The big question is why was GM allowed to NOT recall millions of cars that had the problem of a plastic door handle breaking off and potentially trapping a person in a car? Imagine a wheelchair bound driver getting stalled on railroad tracks and the handle snaps off with a train coming. They attempt to roll the window down to open the door with the outside handle but with no battery to power the automatic window. That is not an unrealistic scenario.
    GM's fix for this is a $500 inner door panel replacement at the customer's expense. Fuck you GM. You have sold me my last car.

    Do you need to replace the whole two-piece assembly, or can you just swap out the silver part?

      Good question. Sure just the handle can replaced if you didn't want to replace the handle assembly. Good Luck.

    Why won't small self-tapping screws work without the glue? I got my handle from a salvage yard, ( only cost me $10.00 bucks) and it didn't come with screws. I would think it wouldn't be that hard to find the correct size.

      +Preston Miller The glue helps prevent the screws from backing out of the thin plastic. If you use the incorrect screws (too long) they will protrude through the other side of the panel. Good Luck.

    2 Questions.... 1 it seems to be possible to just replace the actual handle instead of the whole housing?
    Also what happens if you break the new handle and the screws are glued in?

      Yes. Sure it can be replaced by itself. BTW, we don't it or the handle assembly anymore. The glue helps prevent backing out with vibration. A screwdriver can still back the screws out if needed.

    Does the HHR come with a timing belt or a timing chain?

    Is the drivers side the left side of car?

    • @DenLorsTools
      @DenLorsTools  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ron Warner In the USA the driver's side is the left side as you're sitting in the vehicle. The door handles are listed this way on our websites also since we are based in the United States. WiseAutoTools does accept orders otside the USA.
