Because, let's face it , automotive repair can be complex and very difficult at times, so your videos make these repairs that much more understandable and doable. Thanks for the video.
U made it so easy to remove the struts and save me Hella time plus I like that u showed all the torque specs for each bolt. Ur video is good for diy mechanics at home
Keep on making videos. I like your style and professionalism. Your also mindful of attention to detail, to make sure everything is just a little bit better and more correct. All in all, I just like that your confident and experienced. The talk is very understandable and straightforward. I Hope to be a professional technician like you one day. I used the word automotive technician because it's a mechanic that knows the detail and specs also. Your videos are among the best on you tube.
I love all your videos brotha. Don't waste the viewers time with chit chat, you get right to the instructions. And when needeed, you give small tips to prevent damage to the parts. ALL repair videos should be like yours. Good job.
I am on planning to do the same replacement to my 2006 HHR And your tutorial has given me the confidence, to do the job myself... Thanks for your help... I went and bought both of them,as soon I get an day off, Im tackling this repairs myself... I just hope Not to run into the same problem with the stabelizers... Great video 👍👌👏
About to do this with my 2010 HHR, thanks for the guide!!! though personally, I'll be either cleaning up the bolts before reinstalling, or replacing them with new depending on condition!
I had to Replace Both Hubs and Struts (Both Sides) because I couldn't figure out what that "Noise" was after putting New Tires on. If anyone else does this, remember to hang the Caliper assy to the Strut to insure you don't hurt the Brake line. It eas a Job alright but well worth it. Nice video here and your Door Handle one.
Great video. I just bought an HHR from a buddy and like anyone else have about 4000 things I’m going to do to this panel. Not a clue how to do it. Thanks for putting it out.
Thank you for the video, it was well done. I didn't have to watch the entire 1st part to figure out how to do my front struts. I started taking off the front strut and got to that bolt that you had a problem with and I realized what you're supposed to do with that, so I thought I'd share it with you. I didn't read everybody's comments so someone may have already explained it. You put a closed end socket wrench on the nut and use an Allen to drive the bolt pass through the nut. Don't reverse the bolt, drive it and it will push out right through the nut.
When available, those Allen heads sometimes help. Problem is, they are not present in all aftermarket equipment, and when present are often hard to access because of corrosion. I don't see an Allen head in this clip at 2:59, perhaps because they were replaced before.
Great video. No icon for a thumb up but I like your step by step explanation of even a common sence thing like keeping one nut attached until you can hold onto the strut to avoid damage or injury. Thank you.
Wow! Amazing Video. I'm about to lower my HHR and this was the perfect tutorial for swapping things out. Everything you recorded was in perfect view and your instructions were clear and easy to follow. Couldn't have asked for anything better!
Great video and audio quality. Also great editing, camera angles, and narration. I appreciate you listing the socket sizes and the torque specs too. Thanks for making this vid.
smart fkn kid. was about ready to type out the comment he should have painted the stabilizer bar. but then he went and did it. details my man. details..... Kudos
You're the first other person I've ever seen use rags on the jack stands. I assume it's for the same reason I do it, to keep them from scratching up the paint/undercoating on the frame. Everybody else just jams them under there and scratches everything all to hell.
@@themechanic6117 i was going to take my HHR to the shop to change the headlight bulb because I thought the entire front bumper had to come off, but then something told me to go to TH-cam and I found your channel. Thanks again.
If the bolt doesn't come all the way out when you tap it, just stick a flathead screwdriver in the hole and tap lightly again. That should make them come out easier. Also, make sure you use deep sockets. They work better.
Great Video. You showed me some tips I didn't know. My stabilizer link bolt had a 6mm Allen opening. I put the 6mm allen wrench in the hole and used an 18mm box/open end wrench and was able to get the nut off. I didn't have to cut the stabilizer link.
One thing that I would have recommended was, After you removed the old strut, Should have cleaned the rust on the strut tower, where the strut meets the chassis & grease it or anti-seize it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also, I purchased 2 struts for the front end of my focus & all 4 for my girls Chrysler & hers barely lasted a year-same brand!!!!!!!!
I stopped the video at 1:13. Not because there’s anything wrong with it because I’m subscribing after this comment. Thanks for taking the time to tell people how to SAFELY lift their vehicle and to use jack stands correctly. Some of the these you tube videos turn into more of a critique of poor habits. And the more famous the “new” you tuber is, the worse they are. A safety guy,,,,even when watching you tube in my underwear. Back to the video…
I need to do this type of replacement on my HHR, but one of the strut mount bolts (the lower bolt) broke off, and I think this will be a difficult project. I am not looking forward to messing with it.
@@themechanic6117 looks like a lot of mechanics have the same issues with the stabilizer bar. Poor design. Practically single-use. haha! Thanks for the posting your experience with this replacement.
Just curious as to why gm doesn't use a gasket between mount and tower. Seems like metal to metal is just a noise concern. Would making your own gasket and placing in between tower and mount throw anything out of whack?
I've never thought it was a good idea either. Some cars actually come with rubber pads built into the top mount. I'm not sure if putting a piece of rubber on would be a good/bad idea. I'm no engineer
My HHR stabilizer (shown in video) had popped off when I was working with the strut. How do I put it back together once the ball came out of the rubber bushing.

HHR stabilizer bar links should be torqued to around 21-25 lb ft. Tighten them to 59 lb ft. and you’ll probably strip the nuts. This guy got lucky.

There is an 18mm flats on the backside of the swaybar link. Top usually comes off, bottom not so much
Not all links have the flats on the backside . These aren't original stabilizer links

Is there a difference in the struts left or right?
My HHR stabilizer (shown in video) had popped off when I was working with the strut. How do I put it back together once the ball came out of the rubber bushing.
You dont put it back on. At that point the part has to replaced. If it popped out id imagine that link was making alot of noise while driving
