i actually do this kinda stuff for a living, take the bag and lower it about 2-4 inches down from the top of the door/window frame, hook goes above the bag once you can see into the vehicle. and with regards to the bar you were using to reach the lock i took mine and bent it in half then bent it slightly on the other 1/3s on either side of that bend to reach in and better get to the switches or the handles

MR should do a series where they invite Rogues to come on and teach them a skill. Narrow down a list of patreons or something, and have them submit audition videos (or somehow otherwise cull the herd of applicants and ensure they know something they can teach). Invite them out to the MRHQ and let them teach you how to do something.

So I actually worked for AAA for about two years after I graduated college, it was a good way to make some money and earn experience for towing vehicles. (Company I worked with who had the contract paid for all of my training). And honestly, it surprised me to see how long it took. Those hooks are meant to be able to bend so you can get to those tricky handles and switches. That, there are also other types of bars that we called lassos. Pretty much just a loop of wire through a bar that could grab the post lock like you have on this car, and just pull the lock itself. Never mind me though. You guys did great for your first time doing this, and you're always entertaining to watch.
Fun fact. Most if not all Ford vehicles are actually designed so that if you pull the door handle on the inside, it will open. There are quite a few models out there that don't allow that now, but Ford still does. Keep it up guys, love your content!

I do this everyday for AAA Roadside one big tip buy the long reach that's one piece and you can bend it however you want to reach everything. Next tip buy two air bags same size start on the vertical part of the door once you get some space move to the top with the second bag before removing the first this gives you a giant space to get in the car. Also loop tools let you pull on the knob of the lock making like easier too.

I had to do this once on the farm where I work, only with improvised tools. In hindsight, that was probably an advantage, since rather than using the metal rod you're using, I was able too takee a piece of the very stout wire I use for repairing fences and bend it to the exact shape I needed to reach the handle easily. Thank the Lordd the toolbox on my truck doesn't use the same key my truck does. After two incidents involving this sort of thing, I had a spare key made and gave it to a close friend of mine. She's already let me into my truck once. I only once paid the $50 for someone to open my truck for me and after that I vowed I wouldn't pay it again, mostly because I live in destitution.

When I was young(er) me and my friends used to break in to cars and steal stuff like car radios etc. All you need is a 90s car that has the door design where it sort of wraps up on to the roof, not the one you guys have where the door closes almost under the edge of the roof, and two pairs of hands. Wedge the top of your fingers down the small gap on the top side of the door, count to three and pull simultanielsy. This will give you a bit bigger gap, put your fingers a bit further down the gap and pull again. After three-four pulls you should be able to stick down your arm and open the lock. Me and my friends got so effective we could open a car door without breaking the glass in less than 10 sec.

I have broken into numerous cars, either my own or ppl I know that have loved their keys in. Every time I have just have to MacGyver it on the spot from things I can find/are available. Only once have I had to accept defeat, and that was when me and a friend got locked out of a pretty new SUV far in the forest, and with nothing to use. On my old mazda I used a long knitting needle I found once I locked my keys in outside a closed down craftstore, I made a little hook at the end and it worked so well, that sometimes I would just lock my keys in just for goofs when I went to the store. I stored the needle behind my lisence plate the whole time I had the car.

alternate approach: if your friend _also_ has a Honda of a similar era, check if their keys work to unlock your door. Honda used similar key cutouts for many different vehicles (to keep costs down) such that a CR-V key will work in a Civic or a Civic key will work in an Odyssey... and vice versa. Honda thought about this and put extra security into the actual tumbler of the ignition, so although you may be able to get into the car you are not able to start it.

We used a rubber wedge, like a big soft plastic doorstop, at the car dealership I worked at. And a similar metal arm. The bag might be a safer idea, as long as you have a couple.

I found myself needing to get into my car today by way of coat hanger, I nearly screamed "I'm a modern rogue!" when I finally got it!
For the record, my car was out of battery and the physical lock on the door was broken, so I couldn't unlock it to get in and release the hood to jump it.

I carry a wire coat hanger in my toolbox just for the situation when I lock my keys in my car while working. It only happens in weather when I wear a coat out the door and take it off when I arrive at a job site leaving the keys in my coat pocket. I don't have a pump wedge, I just use a screwdriver.

I'm actually an "AAA guy" that unlock 3-4 vehicles every day for the last 5 years. JUST BEND THE ROD! Then, if the engine is running, you have many options. Roll down the window, hit the unlock button, pull the latch or if you are fancy, pull up the knob.
Better to do all of it on the passenger side. In case of damage, there will be no wind/rain making you to angry as driving

Try getting into that car using only a shoe lace.
The gist of this method is form a large slip knot. While holding both ends shimmy the loop between weather stripping down to the plastic bit the pops up and loop it around the plastic bit, tighten the knot tight enough to pull up on the plastic bit.

so i used to use these daily at an auto auction, you guys have the general idea down but could definitely use some better placement of the bag/wedge to give optimal angles, also, since they are so cheap, dont be scared to bend the stick to whatever angle you actually need, some cars are harder than others for sure. good work fellas!

Back in my firefighter days we would get called to lock outs all the time. Me and buddies would take a side of the car and see who could break into the car the fastest. The newer, higher end, Mercedes models are like tanks and it's pretty tough to break into them using this method.

Cool video. Maybe you could pop off a whole door with an inflatable matress? I don't know how true it is but I've heard you can 1) Cut a tennis ball in half and put one half over the lock and then knee it and the air pressure will pop the lock and 2) if you throw a drill bit at a car window it will shatter it really easily because of its fine sharp tips. I wouldn't mind seeing how true they are.

I locked my keys in my car at a random gas station, many cities from where I live. After searching around for a coat hanger at the surrounding stores with no luck, a stranger asked if I couldn't get into my car. I said yes, and pointed into my car where my Sailor Moon-lanyard laden keys sat in my seat. He chuckled, then opened it in a few seconds, a true hero.

I recommend the Mike Ehrmantraut method from Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul where a loop is tied in a piece of rope and slipped over the lock pull. There are limitations, like if the lock pull is flush with the door molding when down, but otherwise it works rather well.

  • @joblessalex
    @joblessalex 4 ปีที่แล้ว

So the window method IS valid. It is used for frameless doors. On those, the window is the only thing at the top of the door, so that's where you get the split. The extension is so you can reach clear across the car and unlock the passenger door with a straight on angle.

The door was still locked and the wind blew and the door closed, i went inside the DMs place and asked for a a metal coat hanger and i got it straightened out and went outside and used it and slid it inbetween the window and the rubber seal for the window and used the straight metal to push the window button and got the door unlocked. And your video popped up and i had to share this story to you two

    "We're science adjacent."
    And other good ones?

btw next time, just put a small bend in the rod so it can reach inside to the lock
a friend locked their keys in thier car at a rave(underground sound 3, cave in rock Missouri) in the middle of no where, I found a pocket knife on the ground, cut down a sapling, striped the bark, which made it nice and slick, got a bigger stick I cut a wedge in, and used string and tied the belt clip from the pocket knife to the end of the stick to grab the lock. Poped open that plymoth Lazer in no time.

You could also use a fishing line to get the pin. I've done this before and there's almost 0 risk of damaging anything.
