The reason is that being such a person is intrinsic to what makes him fascinating. At the same time, because Miyuverse Shirou is devoid of the cause and effect that would enable him to reach such a self-destructive conclusion of himself, Miyuverse Shirou being a badass and casting off his "ideals" rings hollow because he has less weight to cast off. Everyone hypes Miyuverse Shirou for being the "best Shirou", but he's really lacking in depth due to the lack of that first trigger. There's no Fuyuki fire, no spur. We're just ... expected.

No, There is even more to that. Reason why Miyuverse Shirou is hype up so much because He has to sacrifice his own wanting to be a Hero in order to protect the one He has left, that being his sister. This like a different take on Heaven's Feel where Miyuverse Shirou is more willing to become the villain than HF Shirou is. Not to say HF Shirou is lesser than MV Shirou, but just the circumstance force them have to make the choices.
If you compare Miyuverse backstory to Shirou from FSN, both are already different. Kiritsugu is willing to take Shirou as his assitant, making MV Shirou more knowledge about what being a Hero meant. Meanwhile, FSN Shirou is still more hopeful and idealisitic on being a Hero. This makes the contrast being realist and idealist much more. Does it mean FSN Shirou is bad for having idealist POV? Of course not, in fact it is admirable. Even MV Shirou knows that following what you believe is right could never be wrong, heck if weren't the circumstance of World is Ending. MV Shirou will follow Kiritsugu path like FSN Shirou.
So, we brought to the question. Is being a Hero bad? No, of course not. Both FSN and Miyuverse Shirou will say the same thing. It is just what they been though that shaped their path. Miyuverse Shirou might not experience the fuyuki fire, but He also lost many things in his life. His Father, His friend, his sakura, his ideals, and finally his sister. The sister being the person He doesn't want to sacrifice because it she just a little girl, even tho sacrificing her will save many lives. No wonder, He is more willing to sacrifice his wanting and decided to become a villain to save Miyu. Because Miyu is the only He has left. Other than the baddassry of MV Shirou, it is also a sad story because He is finally alone again but fulfilled because He managed to save the one person He has left. The 'I won, Kiritsugu' is the final part that prove His willingness to be Hero for Miyu. It is something that makes wanna cry every time i watched the movie.

@@Patrick-tg6wm Dude, Miyuverse Shirou has none of the things that make Emiya Shirou compelling. He's just another guy trying to save the girl and look good doing it. The OG Shirou is an extreme empath with psychopathic tendencies. You see that in his dialogue and where his compass lies. It's why when he saves Sakura, it's so rewarding because he's not just saving the girl but waking up to the fact that there is an EXTENT that his ideals would define him. It's basically Batman giving up the cowl in the best way and realizing his parents' deaths are not his future and that the family he has now is important. Miyuverse Shirou sees his world being threatened and rises to defend it. He's basic as can be. He's entertaining, but as far as writing goes, he's basically the shallowest parts of the core character meshed together to fulfill the basic Guardian and Homestead Fantasy.
Shirou's claim is that he is a ball of conflict whose ideals are being tested by parallelism (Fate), self (UBW) and opposition and pragmatism (HF). Miyuverse Shirou had that opportunity but it just took the shallowest aspects of the character and tried to sell us on the con that it was the same Happy Meal you had in 1998 in your first trip to McDonald's against the bland corporate slop that it is now.

@@Sizdothyx Then Explain to me why you think Miyuverse Shirou is just another guy being Hero looking good while doing so. If your a FSN fan, you are actually more likely to like Miyuverse Shirou, because it is back to his core of what makes Shirou a really complex Character. Miyuverse Shirou by any means sacrifice what makes him a Shirou to save her one important person. He even does not have future after saving Miyu (He is captured and tortured by the Ainsworth). If you ever like Shirou from FSN no matter what route, then you will definitely like Miyuverse Shirou.

Emiya Shirou and Kamijou Touma, both characters hated by anime people due to poor adaptation. Only those who consume the original know how incredible they are.

    Shirou. The epitome of *NAIVETY*
Hats off for the animators, as always, but intensity wise *Fate/Zero* tops the whole series easily.
