    What happens when 2,4 hexadiene reacts with 1 equivalent of HX at lower temperature. Which one is major product, 1,2 or 1, 4?

      @Chemistryuniversity  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are several products possible. 1 eq of HBr at a lower temperature would favor either 5-bromohex-2-ene or 4-bromohex-2-ene (both racemic). We should also expect some of the conjugate addition product 2-bromohex-3-ene (racemic) and some of the disubstitution products 2,4-dibromohexane and 3,4-dibromohexane (also racemic). You would have to run the experiment to determine the ratios of the products formed.

      This material is normal of a first semester organic chemistry class in college. You typically dont take it until sophomore year at least at my uni. I assume you could learn more basic organic chemistry in highschool when taking AP, IB, honors, or any advanced chemistry course. Althought I never took any above avearge level chemistry in high school, so I am not sure exactly what they teach in those higher level courses.
