- Marysville Police Department K9 Handler Justin Reeves shows off the "most excited employee" on the force, Heiko. Heiko is the first K9 working for the City of Marysville. Funds raised by the community made it possible to establish the K9 Unit.

Great job! I did 11 years with USBP/USDHS 2 Belgium Malinois I did it in the 80-90’s. They max out with us right at 5 years, so I ended up with both retired puppies at my house. I retire in 11 months with a Metro Police Department, but I retired from USBP with 21years in , now I’ve got 36 years as a Police Officer, it’s terrible that all this happened, however the public spoke up for change, we must all comply. K-9 handlers typically sport around a Bohemian attitude, primarily because it takes fortitude to be with your partner 24/7, even on vacations, but I was always told that nothing ever bothered me , probably because I always had my partner at my side, take care , and remember “Stay alert, Stay alive”
Thank you for your service. An stay safe out there. Working or not our blue heros are being killed just for the job that they decided to take. I'm glad that they let the dogs go home with you even back then. I always was told they put them down when it was time for them to retire. So glad to see that you not only got 1 but both of your partners. Thank you once again.

Dogs are the perfect animal for police work. I used to host police training with their dogs and they are amazing. To them chasing a criminal is a game and they know a big game of tug is in store if they catch them. They will even take a bullet or a beating from a criminal and come right back the next day ready to go again.

The issue we have in the Bluewater area is the pushers from Detroit come up here and do there business. They do not have the big gang/dealer competition they would have in Detroit. I think law enforcement does a great job. Assets like a K9 are huge. Now about Marysville...love the community. Its also probably has the highest concentration of law enforcement personnel living there in all of Michigan. From corrections, Customs, Border Patrol and Police. I love it
