This old fella was a bloody legend to endure the county and live where he did but as he said he was home. A tough bloke and lived a wonderful and amazing life
What year was this filmed? Because I'm pretty sure it was abandoned when I went there early 2000s books were still there though. Used to fish the river a lot.
there is a video out named "Following Malcolm Douglas footsteps to find his mates place" that shows the place how it looks today, i am not sure if i am allowed to share the link, so i only posted the title. this guy was a legend, so was Malcolm Douglas!
This man is an Australian Icon, like Malcom Douglas. He used to visit Helmut. RIP to both these legends.
Are you from the area :)
Hi Jess, no but want to retrace his trips. Followed Malcoms adventures over the many years. Are you from WA?@@jessdickenson8052

He's gone and the house is now just a pile of twisted iron and concrete.
Severe floods in the last few years have finally wrecked the old place.

Cedar Bay Bill from North Queensland was another bloke who had a similar lifestyle based at Cedar Bay.
I never met him. My loss. But I know the feelings, and the connection.
Sounds like he enjoyed your company
