    This man is an Australian Icon, like Malcom Douglas. He used to visit Helmut. RIP to both these legends.

    He's gone and the house is now just a pile of twisted iron and concrete.
    Severe floods in the last few years have finally wrecked the old place.

    This old fella was a bloody legend to endure the county and live where he did but as he said he was home. A tough bloke and lived a wonderful and amazing life

      What year was this filmed? Because I'm pretty sure it was abandoned when I went there early 2000s books were still there though. Used to fish the river a lot.

    Cedar Bay Bill from North Queensland was another bloke who had a similar lifestyle based at Cedar Bay.

      there is a video out named "Following Malcolm Douglas footsteps to find his mates place" that shows the place how it looks today, i am not sure if i am allowed to share the link, so i only posted the title. this guy was a legend, so was Malcolm Douglas!
