    I'm extremely impressed with the quality of your paint work without a paint booth that cost more than my house. Amazing job!

      Yes I found out it takes a lot of sanding to get one smooth

    Looking great and thank you, I now know how to remove the cab off the old chassis and install on the new chassis. Working alone I was stumped on how to move the cab to the new chassis. Also clean and repaint the cab in the process.

    You done this before....not to many people starting out know to edge a fender first before painting. And the way you pull off tape at a sharp angle comes from experience. Every video I watched shows you using what I call the "Old School" method and not takeing any short-cuts. It's nice to have a back up job....you could get a job in a body shop any day. You know your going to have to build some shelves for all the trophies your going to get.

    Really nice work! I just started on a 1955 3100 restoration an this has been a great motivator for me...thanks for posting these. Did you have to wet sand that paint at all or did it lay down that smooth to where you didn't need to wet sand?

    • @Gibson63.
      @Gibson63.  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      citizzencain Yes I had to wet sand in some places 1000 most of it 1500 to 3000 then compound

      @@Gibson63. how did you go about stripping the old paint? My project has the original paint and whoever sold the truck sprayed the whole thing with what looks like rattlecan paint or some sort of primer paint to try and seal it from rusting. I cant decide whether to have it blasted which is expensive or mechanically strip it with a stripper wheel for the surface rust portions and 80 - 180 grit with a DA sander. Thanks in advance.

    • @citizzencain
      @citizzencain 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gibson63. Did you mechanically strip the paint on this or did you have it media blasted. I cant decide which route to go with mine?

    • @Gibson63.
      @Gibson63.  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      citizzencain I had my truck media blasted then epoxy, so I can do all the body work from there it was a lot easier for me, I did disassemble the whole truck also

    • @citizzencain
      @citizzencain 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gibson63. Thank you...that is the direction I'm leaning...I actually just found a place that'll do both for around 1500.00. Did you also have the frame blasted and did you use POR 15 on the frame?

  • @georgesteveleyva5810
    @georgesteveleyva5810 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Did you have any issues with color match since it was painted at different times? Are all the panels the same tone/darkness?

    • @Gibson63.
      @Gibson63.  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      George Steve Leyva Everything turned out great on the color match. I waited on the same temperature use the same air pressure and the same amount of basecoat and clearcoat , and this is a solid color so that helps on matching better

    how are the panels attached to the wood. Or are they out sitting on there

    • @Gibson63.
      @Gibson63.  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The door is sitting on top of the 2x4 ledge the fender also has a 2x4 screwed to the saw horse that it's resting on

    How were you able to not have overspray round your garage. Your garage is meticulous very clean can you share your secret

    • @Gibson63.
      @Gibson63.  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Arturo Bolanos I unlatched and folded up the bottom section of my garage door with 5 box fans pulling the overspray out, and used my window with a filter to bring the air flow in, my garage is only 16x20, I did get overspray but this kept it down and out of the garage pretty quick

  • @theyco60

    What setup are you using to remove the paint / fumes from your garage?

    • @Gibson63.

      I'm pulling air through my window with a filter and 5 box fans at the bottom of the garage door with filters pulling it out
