    When I was on active duty in the Marine Corps, Glycine and Marathon were my go to brands. 🇺🇲

    i really try and support the microbrands, but when glycine can offer a watch with a swiss movement and this total package who can resist. a much better value than those thick micrbrands with NH35 movements.

    I've owned 3 of these in the past, all with 2824's in them. They kept pretty much perfect time. Ended up selling all of them although I currently own a combat moonphase which is one of the best deals around. Swiss made automatic moonphase for around $300.

      Have a combat moon also $279.+ tax ship. WHOA great watch.

    I love how thin these are.

    I have the GL0076 with the graphite colored aluminum bezel. That bezel is a chameleon in photos. Can look almost silver, can look black. It's a great watch, solid but not heavy, super thin and can be worn with anything. Not a huge fan of the lume, but it's good. Bought mine at Ashford for $315 a year ago on Black Friday. It is a nearly perfect watch...

    Finally, a good one. Have 7 Glycine's, vintage Airman, bronze sub, combat 6 and chronograph 's. Why buy micro's, buy Swiss. All mine run +2 - + 5.

      @mrbacchus6127 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have had 5 and all were good timekeepers. Down to 1 Combat Sub now always tempted to buy another Airman.

    Glycine Combat sub is for sure the best watch under $400. I have a few of them, well more than a few. Have another one coming in for review as well. One of my favorite watches for sure.

    Nice. Was thinking of getting a combat moon phase. Never actually got it, very hard to find the stainless steel model for a reasonable price now unfortunately.

    100% agree on your review. I have the black gl0079 from jomashop for 320$ including shipping. Certainly the best swiss diver imo under 400$. If it had screws instead of pins it would be even more ridiculous.

    I own the GL0076 and the GL0088 both are great watches and keepers, keep great time. Thanks Chris for showing us this nice watch.

    Unless they changed it, split pins in the bracelet. But it works and is sturdy.

    I have the same watch. UK price £600 ($780). Imported from Jomashop, with duty and postage, $320. It's a great watch with a disappointing lume.

    Very nice, Glycine do make great affordable unique Swiss timepieces. I'd also throw in Steinhart in the same price range aside from their homage to other Swiss brands.

    Gotta love a red bezel..

  • @derbagger22

    And, personally, i think because it wears so thin, it wears better on smaller wrists than a typical 42mm.

    • @juniorjohnson5961
      @juniorjohnson5961 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you own one I have a 6 /3/4 in. Wrist you think it would look ok ?

    • @derbagger22
      @derbagger22 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@juniorjohnson5961 I do! I have the GL0076. I think it would look fine, but that is a bit of personal preference. The contour of the lugs certainly helps it to conform to just about any wrist. And being so thin, it really spreads the weight evenly around the wrist so you won't get wobble. I think it would look great on a smaller wrist. But some may disagree. Comfort-wise, though, I think you'd really like it...

  • @mrbacchus6127
    @mrbacchus6127 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are right on point about glycine beating most micros. A thin micro with a swiss movement is probably over $600 in most cases hmmm, ok it probably has a ceramic bracelet but it wont have Glycines history. I like my gl0185 at $300 from Ashford last year quite a bit.

  • @floydmorrison2025
    @floydmorrison2025 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great review! I have the GLO249 black/orange model, and it's one of my most comfortable watches. So thin! The long lug to lug is deceiving (on paper) because the lugs turn down pretty dramatically and hug the wrist. Bracelet uses split pins BTW..

  • @juniorjohnson5961
    @juniorjohnson5961 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I've been looking at GLYCINE for a while something keeps me from buying , Don't like the hour hand thinking it might be a little big for me 6 3/4 in. Wrist .

    • @derbagger22
      @derbagger22 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      While it may not look anything great in pictures, in person I really appreciate the handset. I think I mentioned the thinness in another response. The hands are so close to the dial, it adds a bit sophistication to the watch. I love the inverted golf ball on tee of the hour hand. The minute hand is so slender, but sleek. And the second hand I didn't like at first, but they are all different, it makes the watch so much more legible. It grew on me, big time.

    Also, you can go to Invictas web store, they sell preowned combat subs for around $275 all day. Every color you can think of. I might buy a preowned golden eye from them.

    I like full Arabics dive watches and this is nice and thin. Just wish they were better lumed. Invicta way overpriced their watches to make them look like they are a great deal... These are Swiss assembled with a Swiss movement.
