    Your setup demo at 10:22 is perfect and exactly what I needed to confirm.. that two different Picos could independently overlap/control two dimmer loads to split up zones in our basement finish. Appreciate it.

    "line of sight" was the wrong description here. If anything its an "RF line of sight" which can easily go right though multiple partition walls and is able to get through brick & stone walls with some attenuation. I have found Lutron's described distance ranges to be relatively conservative for typical US homes.

    Nicely done! Those were very good tutorials. The only thing I will mention is that when removing the battery from a PICO, a metal screwdriver is perilously close to the Integrated circuit. I suggest using a non-metallic tool such as a wood match stick or something similar to push the battery out from under its retaining clip.

      Thank you.. yes it would have been better to use/shown a non-conductive tool in video.. i will be sure to show in the future and will add to notes

    Can you use the 4 scene pico on regular home caseta base? It is a pro sku but will it work on non-pro bridge?

      Oh 100% agree, I was showing that it’s possible to get further than what is advertised.. shoot trying to get through some walls homework’s QS can’t even make it 10ft from a repeater depending what it’s made of

    What driver are you using for your light strip? Looking for a dimmable driver that can plug in like that.

    Nice job on this video. What are the pico remotes with night lights you referenced? Also, I didn’t know that about not touching the bottom of the battery what is the issue there, oils from your fingers damaging the battery?

    Can you locally dim with the 4 button pico or is it all through the app?

    So it has to be in clear line of sight if it's not connected to a hub? I was wanting to add a remote as a switch around a corner, it's only going to be 10 feet away but through one wall

    • @diysmartlighting2484
      @diysmartlighting2484  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does not require clear line of site.. but i would suggest keeping it away from heavy appliances and thick dense walls, in some cases it can drastically limit the distance and reliability

    Did you do a test through the walls of the house? Is there any limitation from hub distance to any of the Caseta switches or remotes in the house?

    • @diysmartlighting2484
      @diysmartlighting2484  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Avoid heavy appliances like the refrigerator.. thick walls and large metal objects can affect the signal as well.. ive had homeworks qs switches (top notch lutron smart switch) have issues from a repeater 20 feet away because of an exterior wall has that metal in the stucco

    Good work and some good points about functionality. However your (soon to be) favorite 4 button Pico remote is one you haven't met yet.
    The Pico scene (labelled) remotes PJ2-4B-GWH-P01 / -P02 / -P03 are actually a quite different kind of Pico. Regardless of the actual pre-printed labels (that might not fully meet your needs*) these Pico's are far more configurable. You can program, every button on the remote to set any level for any group of devices in your whole home regardless of room assignment. There is no dedicated off button - all can be scenes. Each button can control a totally different set of devices. You have to program this up in the App of course.
    *It is quite easy to swap the button plates around between any 4 button Picos. In fact I ordered custom engraved Picos but disappointingly it wasn't this kind delivered - but I just swapped the custom printed button caps into one of these Pico bodies (the button labels in the app labels are the predefined ones of course). I would prefer to have all my 4 button remotes this way for extra flexibility - but it isn't always needed. Be nice if the app let you redefine the button labels too.

      Alan, I hope you see this. I just received the PJ2 -4B-GLA-41. I am working on trying to figure out how to have a button trigger a scene that is set in the app. The devices I am looking to control are Diva Dimmers, Claro Swithces, Fan Control(hardwired), and Serena Shades. How have you set up that remote so that the button triggers a scene?

    • @alanmoore2197
      @alanmoore2197 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickwilberg2279 You have to actually buy just the ones I noted - these are the only ones with the full functionality described.

    • @alanmoore2197
      @alanmoore2197 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickwilberg2279 More specifically to your question Lutron doesn’t allow a button press to trigger a ‘scene’ that you previously set up in the App. But in the App you can define a scene that is executed by that button (the scene isn’t otherwise available under scenes in the App - it is an odd limitation - but that is the way it works). Except for the special picos I noted the scenes on all buttons of a pico must control all the same devices (typically a rooms worth). Start in devices and edit the pico… What you can do depends very much on the pico. You can also set the button scenes manually on the Pico (see the instructions)

      @rickwilberg2279 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alanmoore2197 and does the pico remote you mentioned work with Casetta?

    • @alanmoore2197
      @alanmoore2197 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rickwilberg2279 Yes - fully all features for all caseta devices and I believe serena shade too. Any button (all 4) can be a scene with any devices you have in any rooms set to any levels - and each button can control totally different device sets (that is what is great about these 3 picos)
