Critters ain't never where you want them...pretty crazy...I have three 400+lb black bear in my back yard not an hour ago...and Im 10 minutes outside my local city limit.
It’s awesome to watch this channel as someone from the east coast living paycheck to paycheck just dreaming of the day you’ve saved enough to take a trip out west for the chance at one of these animals!
I moved from Colorado to the east coast ( NC) if you will eat bear, you can do a non resident bear tag for $100. I still go back and do it every year for the most part. Can’t afford a non resident elk tag that’s for sure lol.
great episode as always, I'll be chasing mule deer in October on a Wyoming tag. Going to try putting on a backpack and hiking out into the wilderness for a few days and seeing if any deer want to come back to south Dakota with me.
If your tag is in southern Wyoming you should be able to do well man, the northern part has been getting hammered but the past couple years my father and I have been successful with deer
Finally drew a resident buck tag for my 'home' units this year after several years of denials mixed in with a 4th choice in the secondary draw for a tag out in the southeastern Colorado plains (much further from home) . And, like @kanaga said (below) I routinely have mule deer strolling through my yard here in the Heart Of The Rockies too.
This episode is about how even out in the wilderness the man is watching. And he’s already complicated the rules enough to confuse a rocket scientist. So, 😢😢😢😢😢
They did the exact thing in the Black Hills. Introduced rainbow trout to streams they were not native to. You catch far less brookies and browns now and to be honest I would take a nice colorful brookie or golden colored brown for a photo long before a rainbow. With that in mind, I would also take a nice pink meat brookie over a rainbow any day of the week to cook over the campfire.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the thermals be blowing up the hill at that time of the morning with the 1st deer. Why would you come from below the deer?
This episode is the one I have been waiting for! White River National Forest, State Bridge launch, talking to Bill Andre (I played sports and worked with his son), and hunting in the backyard of where I grew up! I wonder what year this was?
The only downside is the added pressure in that unit since this episode aired. This episode is a dead nuts giveaway of what unit and even particular mountain to access…. I love Steve and meateater but wish they did a little more to protect locally cherished and often generational hunting grounds
@@MakersTeleMark No doubt about it, tag reductions are hurting big time. So many guys and gals are unable to draw tags that have always been first year draws, even archery (myself included this year). The good news is the wolves are here and now breeding so that will help out with the tag reductions (severe sarcasm).
lol not exactly steve... if its you, you will get a bye ball.. he just started his answer by saying everyones guilty lol 2 tier system steve... which tier you on?
Did you not watch? They were comparing and older, huge antler trophy buck, to a young buck, flavor, tenderness, and strong flavor. Testing the old myth, about trophy bucks being tougher, and stronger flavored
Still nervous when a game warden pulls up…cause they are jerks and ALWAYS look for ways to ruin your day “We try to treat people how we we would want to be treated” Huge lie!!! Never trust a damn warden!
man you need to come bum around lake ozark . . . mostly because i'm old, slow and busted but wanna hunt & fish again but also because i'm certain this entire region is over looked and under utilized.
I find it funny that this episode pops up as 5 mule deer casually stroll across my yard here in Colorado.
Boast much
They heard MeatEater released a new vid and they wanted in on the action. XD
Houses are often placed in river bottoms and are known safe spaces for wild animals
A similar thing happened to me only it was in my dam whilst watching a Lochness monster documentary

I’m right there with you, I love whitetail hunting here in WNY and Pennsylvania but elk with a bow is my dream hunt!

Thanks Steve and Brody good hunt I think those fresh fish man two a day I would have limited out everyday
I am 50 years old and I still hate seeing the game warden show up lol
Better at the truck than in the bush though eh?
awesome as always, from a uk fan
Never been hunting, dont even like guns but damn I love this show!
What’s not liking a tool have to do with anything?
Fresh brown trout under 20 inches will always be better then any trout or salmon in my opinion
agreed I much prefer trout over sockeyes when baked or pan fried. I think salmon smoked is real good though.
Native brooke trout
Trout that are barely legal ,to me, are the best eating.
@@Nello353 I like eating their reds so delicious and gravely
Smart move at the beginning! Let the warden give the info on where the deer are.
Love your show!
Damn, nice shot Steve
Great adventure!
I really love your channel, and I'm trying to strive to be as successful as you. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Use a handheld thermal to find your fallen dinner.
If you have a question ask this is so overlooked by many folks game wardens have always been a valuable source of information for me
colorado residents hate us out of staters who keep a few fish for supper..true story, but I'm keepin a good meal.
Great and informative warden Bill. Greetings from BC Canada
Rinella looks like the offspring of troy aikman and jim brewer
Gad a 67 deer tag a couple years ago m the local CO'S hated non residents hunting their state. Steve you got lucky with that guy.

I’d love to start seeing a mileage count. I’d love to know how many miles y’all walk in a hunt like this.
I live and hunt here in Colorado. Depending on where/what I'm hunting, I sometimes do 15 miles on foot in one day.
