Thank you so much for uploading this. I used to play the japanese version of the game and this was the only video game my dad would play with me. I have a ton of good memories on this game. My dad and I were never able to reach the final boss so I had no idea what the end was but it's nice to know how close we were.

Sorry, but no. Bomberman 94 is the G.O.A.T. This is basically a remake of it. Slightly better off-grind animations, but otherwise it is mostly a step back. The worlds are simpler, game is easier (except for a highly annoying bomb swallowing baddie in the later stage 1 areas)). The music in BM94 is better with those multi decenium holding brain implants. The feel of the controls in BM94 is better. I found Bomberman even a tad sluggish in SBM, resulting in unnecessary deaths from your own bombs. Multiplayer is also a step back from BM94. The tune is highly annoying, the worlds are basically all the same (no high speed, teleport tunnels or infinite bombs this time), no option to play as punk/blimp/tiny/girl/cop bomberman, totally ugly 10 player world, and worst of all, those naggy voice samples. This is no Yoshi's Island or Mario Kart!
If only Konami could release a classic game collection for Bomberman’s 40th anniversary next year, which should include Saturn Bomberman as one of them

There have been so many iterations of Bomberman to date, but this one is definitely the one to beat in terms of story mode, soundtrack, character personality and art style. In fact, I couldn't bring myself to play the other versions of bomberman, including the recent Super Bomberman R 2 after watching its trailer and seeing how unsaturated the colours and uninspired the design of the playable characters and worlds were. They are basically just different swatches of colours with a different face plastered on top.
Ryroe I must say that this is my favourite bomberman game. bomberman world and bomberman 94 were also fantastic. Some of the few games i won't forget including sonic the hedgehog. Lol even duke nukem 3d/64 and doom were a part of my childhood. So many great games back then.

There’s a Smashmouth song that has a VERY similar bass line to the Amusement World music. At least, I always thought so. It’s called Satellite from the Astro Lounge album
This is a great runner up for the second position. Not the overall perfection of Bomberman 94, but close, very close. '94 has the better OST. This Saturn version sounds awesome with its deep bass sounds, but in a way it is cheating, the music is basically pre-rendered CD music. Bomberman 94 does everything with a few kB of wavetable chiptunes. Also despite the massive graphic power, the PC Engine predessor has nicer micro animations, quite impressive for a in between 8 and 16 bit generation system that was 7 years older.
I think the dialogue of the professor during after the mid boss for stage four is out of translation. What I think he meant to say was to investigate the comet smashing into the volcano. And then he was surprised it was crator that crashed into the volcano. Idk I only played the jap version and this was how I saw that scene back then and I don't know jap

I remember spending hours on it and whenever we got the Game Over screen I got pissed. Especially after I got that far and I thought that Crator was going to be THE final boss. Memories. Crator looked easy now but Stage 5, oh man. The secret base and the successive bosses sure didn't help.

VERY NICE! It's remember to much Super Bomberman 3 of SNES (the best version for console)! Edit: Some animations is not very good like when you destroy some blocks...
That MD version being a lot behind the Bomberman 94. Weird to see the MD lacked the power for all the microanimations like blinking balls in the christmas trees, hopping pinguins on the edge, water ripples, fish swarms. The MD could not handle those where the 8-bit PC Engine just pumped all those pixels all over the screen.
@@Bloodreign1 I understand the Japanese version for most games is usually cheaper, but I tend to have more fun trying to find the more expensive version for usually a low price since it gives me a sense of adventure and satisfaction.

I think the best is the purple one in combination with delayed detonation. Then you are basically invincible as you jump over you own detonations.

Everything from 1:55:30 to the end was a nightmare. Had to restart the game over and over because of those bosses. Amazing game.

The Japanese version ran me $34.99, of course I have a Saturn with Action Replay Plus 4MB in 1 cart that allows me to play imports on the machine.
