We have gold chemicals that work very similar to the silver solutions so you can deposit actual gold on Blown Glass pieces! You can see it here: angelgilding.com/colored-metals/angel-gilding.html
Those are great questions!. A respirator mask is less essential with the Pouring Silver we use in this video. However, we do carry a 3M half face respirator that is very good to have on hand. You can also buy them locally. One key safety measure for this process is to gather the waste water and treat it with the waste treatment kit that comes in the Blown Glass Mirroring Kit. You do not want to just dump the chemicals down a drain. Thanks!
Can we reuse the tin and silver for others after gilding one piece? ex, after tinning object 1, use the poured out tin for object 2. Can we also do that for silver once it is mixed and recently used as well? Or does everything have to be fresh per piece? Also where do we get distilled water? Like bottled distilled water in groceries?
Hi, the goal is to have virtually all of the Tin or Silver come out of solution and deposit on the piece so you cannot reuse the chemicals. They would most likely be waaaay too diluted on a second pass as so much was deposited on the first piece. I hope this helps!
Hello, we have a process called Spray Chrome which uses silvering chemicals in a spray method for pieces like this. You can see a few pages in our knowledge base about this. I would recommend checking out the Dipping Chrome page, it is popular with toy chroming. angelgilding.com/knowledge-base/dipping-chrome.html
Hi, this is incredible and I think exactly what I'm looking for my project! I'm interested in making sunglasses, seeing the flash silvering method work I think it would be perfect, have you had any experience with such an application?
OMG! I would LOVE it if you had a gold tone finish compatible with your silvering solutions! 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

Thank you for this! Are there safety measures we need to take when handling this chemical? Respiration masks/ filters to avoid breathing in the gases?

Does the silver/chrome tarnish? How do you protect the finish?
The silver can tarnish but it is protected with our Lacquer product that comes in the kit.

That may be a better project for our spray silver solutions. You can see our FAQ pages about Spray Chrome for more information, thanks!
