I ordered a .15 tmaxx a week before they came out with the 2.5. Luckily i was able to return it and got an original 2.5. Last week my 8 yr old and i got a 3.3 revo and a 1/16 slash for $50 at a garage sale!! Im moving the 3.3 from the revo to thr tmaxx and using the power up program to exchange an old pro .15 motor for a new 3.3!!! Going to have some bashing the tmax and revo with my son this weekend!!
I have a tmaxx from 20 years ago. Today's Tmaxx Classic is essentially the same truck. I didn't realize that until you were explaining the engine differences. Thanks for sharing.
I still got mine from 20 years ago also. It's been sitting in my basement with a blown engine for 16 years. A bug bit me and I'm now swapping it over the a brushless system. Actually can't wait to take it out and have some fun with it again.
Oh wow I’m uploading my Tmaxx all original video and yours just popped up I’ll subscribe to you. That front blue aluminum bumper mount with the etched in flames look sick.
Thanks B'y, good information, I had a 3.3 awhile ago but had to sell it but my wife jus got me the 2.5, excited to get back into it, gotta order fuel tho she didn't get that for me, thought it took normal gas but that's ok this way I make sure I get the right stuff, thanks again B'y
About 10 years ago I had the 2.5 my dad had the 3.3. I miss my old 2.5. It was a wheelie monster. Took a break from RC’s for several years and recently got back into it. I have a 3.3 now I still love them. Along with an xmaxx a mini maxx (maxx) and a couple other lower end Traxxas eclectic. If you ever get a chance to play with the Traxxas maxx I highly recommend it. Thing is really fast and I bash mine pretty hard. After 4 months of bashing haven’t really broke anything. I wore out the servo saver in the steering system. Did burn up a esc on accident. The only other thing that actually broke was the wheelie bar. A lot of fun. I jump and crash this thing hard lol. Spray your plastics with WD-40 and let them soak for about and hour. (Be careful not to spray electronics) it softens up the plastic and makes them more durable. I thought it was crap til I tried it. But it works well.
Thanks for the WD40 truck!! I will have to try that when I get stupid with my xmaxx. 😂😂 I have looked into getting a maxx but I actually bought another truck.... you might know what it is. And I also have like 3 lower end electric traxxas cars they are a lot of fun to just go in the back yard and goof off with them. But it is a lot of fun to go out in a field and bash around with my dad. Glad to hear your enjoying the hobby again! I also took a year long break from rc about 2 years ago and I am glad to be back in the hobby. Thanks for the support!
@@GoFastRC hey I really though it was BS til I tried it. Try it on an old broken a arm. Try to bend it before. Then spray it and let sit for about and hour then try to bend it after. Big difference. Same problem here my 2.5 has hated to idle I changed the carb to another original it got better and idles sometimes but you can definitely tell it can't regulate fuel enough I tried my buddy's 3.4 Losi carb and it was alot better on the bottom so I guess I'll by another carb soon but I still think Traxxas should have done something long time ago about it with the electric competition and all

Not everything is mentioned here. Tie rods are also completely different on the 3.3 they are thicker than the 2.5 and have wider tie rod ends this is to compensate the wider wheel offset of the 3.3 and turn radius
I want to upgrade my drive shafts and axles to steel shafts for my 2.5. I keep snapping the plastic ones. I can only find one for the 3.3. That should be different as well due to the length and width of the two models. Do you have any idea on what shafts I would need?

Drivetrain overall is completely different. 2.5 uses smaller driveshafts and nonsealed 2 gear differentials. 3.3 uses the larger driveshafts and a sealed 4 gear differential you can put differential oil in. The sealed differentials make the 3.3 a much more tuneable and capable truck. Not to mention the 2.5 uses self-tapping phillips hardware and the 3.3 uses hex hardware. Steerings blocks are much beefier and better designed on the 3.3 whereas the 2.5 steering blocks always snapped where the tow links would screw into
