Magnus is really a fascinating person... Whether you like him or not, you must agree, that his chess style is priceless... Such a wonderful game. Not many players could find such a sneaky and good idea, what an insane insight of board and position... Nowadays he plays more carefully and also he wents for positions, which are not that hard for him to play, but from time to time, he can still sacrifice everything for attack. He just likes chess a lot and you can see it in his style of play.

The c8 square was a problem in this game which Magnus capitalized on, just as the piece that starts on c8 is always a problem for black in this defence.

That's one of the strangest queen sacrifices ever, I mean mostly u can simply see the queen sacrifices. Sometimes it's harder but that was spectacular like the whole tension on one side with the knight and then u sacrifice the queen on the other side of the board.... That escalated so damn quickly
I did spot the queen sacrifice but didn't calculate all the continuations. I just saw the vulnerability of the queenside pieces and the king to a back rank check and that Qxa7 screws up the coordination of the black pieces sufficiently to threaten significant material gain.
I was able to solve the "pause the video" moment in 11 seconds to be honest, I was looking for weird ways to sacrifice some material and then suddenly Rxa7 rang a bell, I am proud of myself.
So bad that your technology do not allow to show the evaluation bar on the video. Goat chess shows it in his videos but I do not know what technology does he have access to, probably some stock fish or the like. It will allow to see more clear every move potential and impact on the game.
Love these games especially players with around 2000 rating. Still phenomenal moves but a bit easier to understand from a perspective of noob like myself. At the highest level, these guys are just playing like computers even beyond their preparation. For most people very hard to understand some of those moves. Great video!

Young Magnus was very aggressive but when he was growing up he converted his playing style into mostly positional to win more games at higher level.
Exactly. A strategy of minimizing the potential to lose. Either win or draw. Not as fun to watch. But effective for sure.
