Coming back here after seeing the 2022 PAX Unplugged game, where they announced it as the conclusion of the first Acquisitions Incorporated campaign, nearly 14 years after it started. How much has changed. The DM, the cast, the sets, the stage. The spin-off The C Team and the crossover with Dice, Camera, Action. It was a beautiful story, the best D&D campaign I've ever been able to witness. From the podcasts, to the movie theater broadcasts, all the way up to the final sold out live show. I think I'll watch it all again. 🎲🐉💙
I remember hearing about D&D back in the 70's and had never seen it played. I thought it was just a simple board game. It was only recently I've looked it up on youtube and can see the following the game has. I enjoy watching people play it .
Frifri Pegasus I just bought the D&D starter set at wally world. My sons and I are going to get at it in a bit. Also, I work with a bunch of fellow geeks that already have a weekly group. Ask around, you can find someone. If all else fails, check out roll20 do t ne t.
+Frifri Pegasus www.d20pfsrd (dot) com is the total pathfinder package. no need to buy any books, i recommend printing your own maps (you can draw anything you want and add a grid. then just dice and freinds and your good to go.
Awesome! I was the guy that made and distributed the Aeofel wristbands that Chris Perkins mentioned towards the beginning. Donations taken for them chipped in to the Cookie Brigade at PAX East!
you know i have to say that i would like to play D & D at least once but i dont know anybody so im stuck with comp games whats a god one that has a open world feel and not the morrowind series got bored of that buy constantly breaking the game once i got strong enough want something with lots of customization too and what the heel am i watching im lost
Go for Baldur's gate one and two. You can get them really cheap on Steam. They are based on D&D 2nd edition, and it's insane how much there is to do in the game. It is, however, a little slow. I mean, there is no run option. I know it's a really old pc game from the '90s, but lord, the characters move slowly. But hey, it's still fun. And remember: in every D&D game, it's important to search and explore, but be aware... That prostitute might have 20 in strenght (happened to a friend of mine. His character had trouble walking the next day.)
***** NWN is much faster paced and also based on D&D rules, even get to see your rolls which is cool. Stick to 1 though, the story on 2 is quite awful lol.
Matthijs van Rijswijk There's only one obese person in that room. Learn words before you use them. Put on your big boy pants and join the adult conversation.
I just had my first ever game a few weeks ago. At first it's really confusing, but once you start getting the hang of it(And when you can really start role playing your character) it's incredibly fun. If you ever get a chance to play with some friends, do it you won't regret it.
Chelsea Hall Of course you don't, you don't think with logic. You just see people doing things that you deem "nerdy" or "loser-ish" and you make judgments about other people that you don't even know. It's OK, I've seen your kind many times in life.
Viktir Von Slapatroll Excuse me? Hold your high ass for a second and tell me what the hell do you think your saying? You think girls don't find interests in "Nerdy" things? Just take a second to bit your tongue, because everyone judges other people on first impressions not just 'our kind'. You stupid dumb ass were all humans, not different 'kinds'. Girls have plenty of logic, and lots of girls have interests in things like this, I DO. I bet you a good number of people in that audience are girls.
Viktir Von Slapatroll Oh really, like I didn't know that stupid ass. Idgaf if you were talking to me, I can comment on any morons comment if I want to,
This is here because these guys did a series of Podcasts with a few D&D games. And since Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins (Jim and Omin) Run Penny Arace, and thus PAX.. they arranged for another episode of their game to be done live for the fans.
Sam, it is about having fun and using your mind to play a game...a game that is more than inputting moves into a joystick...because it involves a bit of creativity and thinking...it inevitably flies over many people's heads...
Others were about his role as Wesley Crusher in Stark Trek, like the Red Shirt one. A red shirt is a person wearing , well, a red shirt, who is usually the first to get hurt or killed. Wesley had a red shirt.
You say that, but Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik write probably one of the most well known webcomics ever, and have been shortlisted for most influential person before, as in said webcomic, there opinion on a game affects how many people buy it. They also probably have more money together than, Scott Kurtz, Chris Perkins and the entire audience, possibly Wil Weaton as well.
In Star Trek (Wil Wheaton played Wesley Crusher in TNG), the random characters who got killed on away missions were those who wore red uniform whom you'd never met before. They were put in the scene to be killed off and avoid the death of main characters. So, red shirts became a running joke. XD
Captain Grammar to the rescue! Fighting the forces of good and evil alike using his unsolicited advice coupled with his nitpicking abilities for maximum dramatical effect. I am your biggest fan!
Very true indeed. In such a flexible and interesting game, I wouldn't want a DM who couldn't fight a character that chooses to stand on a table because it doesn't think that behavior is acceptable.
You are absolutely correct with that. Heck you don't even need role play books to play a role play game, they're just there as guidelines/helper tools XD
The original games where done as pod casts so if you Google Acquisitions Incorporated you can find them very easily or other youtubers have upload the audio on their channels.
if we need to we just draw out a map of the area quickly or before the game begins. Most of the time a good description of the area can help players visualize with out physical imagery
@Iowew79 Earlier games are audio-only, and still archived on Wizards of the Coast's website. Look under D&D -> Media -> Podcasts -> Penny Arcade Archive
DND is fun. The best kind of campaign is where you don't take it seriously and drink and play goofy characters. Plus bloody explosions for monster kills. It goes the distance.
3 adventures, plus a Dark Sun adventure DMed by Jerry Holkins. You can find it in the podcasts section on WotC's D&D site. Just google "D&D PA PVP" and it should be the first result.
Well, these are WotC employees, and they all run games for each other. Unfortunately, they're employees-only, but I know they blog about it online (Chris Perkins, for example, runs a campaign set in a place called lomandra, which is essentially the D&D core world). And yes, they have fun like the rest of us (in the aforementioned campaign, they apparently get thrown out of windows with alarming regularity).
@Labrat011 I believe having varied experiences and hobbies increases your skill as a D&D player. Increases creative thinking and gives you more background to go off of as a DM.
Looking forward to this years AQI game from PAX. I hope it's a bit more challenging / longer than this one though. You need at least 4 hours to get a good game, and you need way more than just 1, admittedly quite large, encounter. They were in no real danger in this game.

I think I'll watch it all again. 🎲🐉💙
And then they started a new campaign with most of the same characters in 2023 :D
no other d&d series online has the same charm and comedy as acquisitions inc with this crew
😊😅
Still true
Never played DnD but I love how excited the crowd was. Always wanted to play this game
Never too late to get into some dice rolling
0:12 "I am Chris Perkins, your _merciful_ and _humble_ DM."
Ha! Get yourself outta here ya liar!
As I explained to my girlfriend about Wil's death, she replied, "But Wil Wheaton always dies or loses... on everything."
Poor ol' Wil...
Any idea where the video of the former game is? Was it even filmed?
I remember hearing about D&D back in the 70's and had never seen it played. I thought it was just a simple board game. It was only recently I've looked it up on youtube and can see the following the game has. I enjoy watching people play it .
"We only lost the red shirt!" just wonderful XD
Holy shit, I love the PA+PvP D&D podcasts more than anything. Two hours of this is gonna make me so happy.
I've wanted to play D&D for a while now. I just don't know where to start ;-;
Buy the starter set for like $20, get some friends, clear a day on your calendar & get at it
Frifri Pegasus you could go cheap and really trimmed down rule. I love Swords and Wizardry! 100% compatible with Basic D&D.
Frifri Pegasus I just bought the D&D starter set at wally world. My sons and I are going to get at it in a bit. Also, I work with a bunch of fellow geeks that already have a weekly group. Ask around, you can find someone.

Awesome! I was the guy that made and distributed the Aeofel wristbands that Chris Perkins mentioned towards the beginning. Donations taken for them chipped in to the Cookie Brigade at PAX East!
"We only lost the redshirt"
OOOOOOOH BURN!!!
These old games are what got me into dnd when I was 13!

I absolutely love the podcasts. Seeing the full thing is just great. So awesome.
you know i have to say that i would like to play D & D at least once but i dont know anybody so im stuck with comp games whats a god one that has a open world feel and not the morrowind series got bored of that buy constantly breaking the game once i got strong enough want something with lots of customization too

I never played D&D before, I will do from now on
I love how these guys are humble and nerdy, they seem so happy :D
it's cosy I love it!
The DM looks like a Male Version of Natalie Portman
This is so epic, i wish i could play at least one adventure in that table, so epic. Chris Perkins is so epic.
will wheaton is so cool
you're missing out, so many good times can be had with beers, good friends, humor, and a little imagination.
I still have no idea what the objective of this game is lol
To have fun
It's so great to get to see the guys I've been listening to on WoTC's podcasts in the flesh (so to speak)!
I had a nerdgasm
wow, I did not expect to see Wil Wheaton on this when I looked this up xD
my god. if d and d isnt destroying that room the obesity will
and yet they're still obese
doesnt mean they couldnt lose a couple hundred pounds
Gonna take a wild stab and bet the haters are just as rotund...
Eikel

Stumbled across this... I'm a girl... I don't feel safe.

Omfg butthurt much?! It was a joke. YOU grow a sense of homour and get off YOUR high horse. Get over yourself.
Chelsea Hall Are you talking to me?
Viktir Von Slapatroll Oh really, like I didn't know that stupid ass. Idgaf if you were talking to me, I can comment on any morons comment if I want to,
i have never played D&D in my life, but i will respect that it was the begginings of the modern RPG game
So much virgin
*cough* jealous *cough*
fibreoptik I guarantee Will Wheaton had more women than you.
HuntedHydraGaming neckbeard
The Redshirt joke was the best one I've heard this year! Everything was perfect!
What ever happened to the older videos? I remember watching at least one before this...
This is here because these guys did a series of Podcasts with a few D&D games. And since Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins (Jim and Omin) Run Penny Arace, and thus PAX.. they arranged for another episode of their game to be done live for the fans.
These men are brave for allowing Wheaton so close to their dice
Sam, it is about having fun and using your mind to play a game...a game that is more than inputting moves into a joystick...because it involves a bit of creativity and thinking...it inevitably flies over many people's heads...
these videos have gotten me into D&D and i wish i had played it sooner
I freaked when I saw Wil Wheaton. He's so good in The Guild.
omg i was looking for DnD videos like this haha thank you!
I watched this over 10 times in the last 2 years :D LOVE IT
What a romp this was watching these guys play.
Others were about his role as Wesley Crusher in Stark Trek, like the Red Shirt one. A red shirt is a person wearing , well, a red shirt, who is usually the first to get hurt or killed. Wesley had a red shirt.
You're 100% right. Any edition can be good, it depends entirely on the DM and the party.
One of the best DMs ever.
This is awesome.
I always wanted to play DnD but I've never had the chance so this is the closest thing.
"We only lost the redshirt!" Oh my God, Scott Kurtz, I laughed so hard.
d&d can be so much fun with the right people
You say that, but Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik write probably one of the most well known webcomics ever, and have been shortlisted for most influential person before, as in said webcomic, there opinion on a game affects how many people buy it. I am your biggest fan!
Bargle the Magic User! Damn you to hell, Bargle! Every time we thought we'd finally killed you, you somehow came back even stronger.
preach it bro, only gotten to play two sessions ever, and both have been a lot of fun
can't wait for the 2011 show!!!
when you locate the mt dew you know you have a really, really, good, dnd group.
Their first games are podcasts, not video. You can get them in the itunes store, search Penny Arcade, and grab the D&D podcasts
Very true indeed. In such a flexible and interesting game, I wouldn't want a DM who couldn't fight a character that chooses to stand on a table because it doesn't think that behavior is acceptable.
You are absolutely correct with that. Heck you don't even need role play books to play a role play game, they're just there as guidelines/helper tools XD
never really got into d&d but they made it look so fun
you'll get it. I have to go mana up, IRL, cuz your character design, is real.
The original games where done as pod casts so if you Google Acquisitions Incorporated you can find them very easily or other youtubers have upload the audio on their channels.
if we need to we just draw out a map of the area quickly or before the game begins. Most of the time a good description of the area can help players visualize with out physical imagery
Now this is some quality crazy! Ah internet, you funny creature you.
Dungeons and dragons is perhaps the greatest role playing game of our day and age.
Who the heck directed this? The constant camera cuts between all three cameras were far too frequent. The content itself was fun, though.
If you want to create an awesome D&D experience like Chris you should definitely check out the reaper kickstarter!
Yes! the red box. I have all five in my garage! old school and great. Like the .50 cal M2 and the 1911, great things need little change.
He is AMAZING.
10:18 I'm pretty sure that this passerby was the inspiration for Sky Kid's voice in the Mappy videos Scott was in.
I've watched through these clips far too many times. They're great inspiration for writing scenarios though!
-plays song of seduction for cthulhu as sword bard and leaves the trophy, that's offlimits, it's the center of strategy, that's for auction.
the power levels are off the chart!
@Iowew79 Earlier games are audio-only, and still archived on Wizards of the Coast's website. Look under D&D -> Media -> Podcasts -> Penny Arcade Archive
The two videos that are up were uploaded in october... What I want to know is where PAX is held, I want to go!!!
you guys need to setup various playlists on your youtube page so people can easily watch entire series in one go without struggle
@dafticaldandy The easiest way to see the podcasts is on ITunes. They are on there for free on the official D&D channel.
i enjoyed the video and it has helped me get interested in D&D. Im right now in the process of creating my character for my new group
@rioploon It was at PAX. The Penny Arcade Expo. It makes sense that the two guys behind Penny Arcade would be considered celebs there.
I love this game
There was actually several. Wizards of the Coast has them all on their website, or you can get them for free on Itunes.
Now I truly see why Scott wanted the word "butt" in some form in his character's name... He's around a level 5 on the fat scale: DAMN!
Just google "D&D PA PVP" and it should be the first result.
wish I was at this session! Looks amazing!!
5:00 Now that the council of Sperg lords is complete, let the game COMMENCE!
One of us, one of us!
"Yeah, we only lost a red shirt!" Haha, classic!
Chris Perkins is such a great DM! :)
"Do you have to roll to roll?" Best part lol
Damn, Chris has so much charisma. Actual charisma, not the in-game kind.
Well, these are WotC employees, and they all run games for each other. Unfortunately, they're employees-only, but I know they blog about it online (Chris Perkins, for example, runs a campaign set in a place called lomandra, which is essentially the D&D core world). the board looks awesome man the geeks or celebrity or rich man looks dedicated to it
Ah thank you very very much, sir! :D
i played this today with my m8s its so cool its unreal
@Labrat011

Hey, is the previous adventure out there somewhere? I would love to see how Aeofel went down...
I know they have the podcasts but I am unsure if theres only the 2 sessions on video I would like to know as well
If you search Penny Arcade under Podcasts on itunes. They are in seasons, the first doesn't have Wil in it
There are several audio podcasts on the WOTC website of their party. All are amazing
Chris Perkins' teeth are perfect!
