- At this year's PAX Prime 2010, our live D&D game-Acquisitions Incorporated: Prisoners of Slaughterfast-featured R&D's Chris Perkins as DM, along with players Jerry Holkins, Scott Kurtz, Mike Krahulik, and Wil Wheaton!
DM: "You see a lost, lonely looking creature following you"
Audience guy: "KILL IT!"
"He is alive, but not on this plane"
"......God damnit"
"We only lost the redshirt" The best part is, Will Wheaton's character, Wesley Crusher, was a redshirt.
this right here is why D&D should be on live television, and not a cartoon show.
love chris hes an awsome story teller
You know, I know nothing about Dungeons and Dragons but I find this highly entertaining. These guys bounce off each other so well
I gotta agree! D&D should be on live television.
Is it me or does Mr Stinky sound like an epic character to play? "Jim... Jim" "Skinkyyyyyy!"
For those that don't get the "Castle Anthrax" ref., watch Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail. Castle Anthrax is the castle that Galahad stumbled upon that was full of beautiful horny maidens.
Gotta keep reminding myself that this is 4th ed.
This is perfect to get me in the mood for my upcoming New Years Eve D&D session!
@Harbaugh87 Jerry and Mike are the creators of the webcomic Penny Arcade, PAX (Penny Arcade Expo where this was filmed) and Child's Play charity. Scott is the creator of the webcomic PvP Online.
Insight checks are essentially a very broad Sense Motive. Healing surges are every classes' means of natural recovery. Different classes have different amounts of surges, much like the differences in Hit Dice, but each healing surge spent recovers a good chunk of health. In 4e healing abilities from your cleric allow you to spend a healing surge freely, while normally you would spent your turn healing yourself using a Second Wind Action, which is an ability you can use once every fight to heal.
"Al was always one of my favorite Elves." I love that Will is so flabbergasted even HE forgets that Aeofel was an Eladrin, not an Elf in his retort.
"Like James Bond, you gotta go around punching people." "Is that Diplomancy?"
Sheldon was the sarcastic laughing guy.
@darktatka Cragslist. A crag is basically a cliff. Refers to mountainous areas.
@darktatka Cragslist. A crag is basically a cliff. Refers to mountainous areas.
this is way more entertaining than celebrity poker
Sarcastic Laughing Guy is my hero.
"The only shards you're gonna have are in your nuts." --- A line we should all use once in our life.
I wouldn't mind seeing even a cartoon version of this. ^.^
Chris is usually so composed. It was great seeing him lose it over the Diplomacy joke.
The healing sounds like a huge bonus, it really sucks to have to camp out for weeks after afew scuffles. It was still abstract as hell but wasn't very condusive to keeping the flow up.
Thumbs up for Chris's Superman Hat.
I have no clue what is happening at all but I'm still enjoying this.
i love the minion Mr. Stinky
No, you get all your healing surges back after an extended rest, and you can rest until healed. So essentially it's your party deciding to call it a day, patch up their wounds and setting off again after 8 hours. And you can spend as many healing surges as you wanted to heal OUTSIDE of combat. It's pretty fast.
Jess saves,passes to Mozes ,SCOOOOOOORE!
@GalderIncarnate
They're just audio files. You can get them through the official D&D Podcast.
@scitechrocks - It never came up - no one ever used an ability in an area with Mr Stinky that affacts only allies or only enemies.
watching to see when the Wheaton dice curse begins.
These guys are seriously hilarious XD
@Wowpalladin A type of one, yes, but in the previous DnD podcasts "Al" would be terribly insulted when the other characters called him an "Elf." It was a running joke that the others, especially Binwin, would refer to Will's character as "Elf."
awsome session
JIM DARKMAGIC! *I'm such a fan of his!*
Oh god, Karl would be so painful playing D&D..
"Duhh, I don't understand... why would someone make this, why would someone make a world, we already have a world.... *insert more daft and meaningless non thought out comments here*"
Rather stab myself in the bloody eye.
.. Though you're right, would be hilarious.
I kinda want to play D&D now..never played it before
"In Hammerfast that's probably called 'Craglist'.
I want to play Dungeons & Dragons so much! But no one i know likes it...
Jonas Hofstad roll20
I loved will Wheaton in eureka!
fuck yes Castle Anthrax.
fuck yes.
@coasterjudge I think that was the point, lol. These guys are quick with the wit.
PAX my friend PAX
That looks like fun.
This is so much win! XD
Wil Wheaton seems like a cool guy. Are the other guys celebrities? Because I didn't recognize their faces or names.
XD "I already farted twice."
I thought Leer's mother was absent completely from the previous adventure. And that the female Dwarf was another character entirely?
This is actually soo funny! Where can i find all the podcasts?
welcome to the world of D&D and oddly they actually started the game right as all 5 of them sat on at the table, started rolling, and performed saves and checks to gain the knowledge to resurrect their fallen comrade, and try to find out what happened to him when they find out that he was someplace else, so now their on the adventure to save their friend from a witch in a dwarven stronghold in which will be the battle system of the game advance D&D logic
(3.5e D&D) Iron Chef's Cookbook 100GP; +2 circumstance bonus on Profession(cook) checks
@DVAFP
Yes it's Dungeon And Dragons fourth edition
10:45 is the most entertaining bit
Damn it Ray!
I would also like to know where i can watch the earlier games.
On the Wizards of the Coast website (wizards.com).
If you just google 'Acquisitions Incorporated, it's the second result I believe.
They're fantastic, enjoy them :)
Insight and streetwise checks? Healing surge?
Havn't played since 3.5
Funny.
I was thinking the exact opposite. I think an anime or Boondocks-like animation would suit it well. Or a show like what The Gamers does.
But really, this is literally me watching 5-6 grown men sit down and play a game. Sure, this could be fun realistically, but on-air? Fart jokes, sex jokes, soda, beer, pong, pizza, Star Trek breaks, other nerd stereotypes - even if this wasn't rehearsed, I doubt the average company is going to let an average gaming session run unrestricted/scripted.
Anyone able to direct me to a full playlist from beginning to most up to date?
wil wheaton makes a good minion
@enj06 it's a dice tower.
Someone should do a "Ricky Gervais Show" treatment to this..
Holy shit, Wil Wheaton?
For the life of me I cannot find the previous encounter they speak of and I feel as if I have missed much of the history of the party. Anyone have a link to their previous adventure or was it even taped?
@macr0machine they should put him in the podcast :P
Actually there should be a website that organizes for people to have others to game this with, doesn't matter if its local meetups, u could even do it over skype i'd say (but in person would allways be much cooler)
omg that would be amazing! xD
anyone know if theres been any podcasts after this adventure.
@TheVerpine Same here but still, my intimidate is an amazing 17... Which is really fun when you get into a speech challenge and you just say, "I'll scare the shit out of the dragon."
Wil is great. I woke up the rest of the house laughing.
I dont get the "In Hammerfast its probably called Cragslist" joke, can someone explain?
@enj06 it's a dice tower
They conveniently forget to include the "Grossed Out" effect in the rest of the series...
if they played the 4.0 version of D&D??? or 3.5??
get the aladrin off my plane lol sry forgot how to spell that lol
I would really Like to play this. I play workable Warcraft and love role playing and anything fantasy. I think I would
Enjoy d&d.
Themommyista roll20 online
Only the Wizards of the Coast Podcast, unfortunately. Audio only.
I wanted to understand this but i dont even know i they started
d&d, they do roll dice.
lol karl playing this would be funny as shit
Why no Vin Diesel? Would love to see him play :P
I'm not trying to brag, but if I had tried the intimidate, even with a natural 1, it would be a 17 to intimidate. My Dragonborn is a scary bastard.
He gives it in the video. :B
me2 been part of it once tho for like 10minutes, but i have no friends to play it with (dont confuse this with having no friends tho) :p
@95darkelf They've recorded but not published another adventure. It's coming.
look for a good group that mixes well. My only advice.
They'd just sacrifice him at every oppurtunity
You do not see any dice? You should proably take a closer look then because dice are essential for playing D&D.
@pirsqed Can I get a link to those audio files?
i want that T-shirt
No one dislikes this.
is this a game or something?
Oh I Love being a geek.. :)
mister stinky is the best
and in some cases they called him Alf lol
unfortunately they are playing 4.0 i think. every time i have tried that version i have regretted it. lol
my DM doesnt tell us what we could do lol
@scitechrocks Oh yes, I agree - some of those abilities seemed way overpowered.
I want that motherfuckng aeofel out of my my motherfucking plane! ^^
