Fair play I was doing it mostly right but hadn't put the one end in first and securely locked it into place which is what was giving me issues straight to point video top man 👌

Thank you! Even though I had two key fobs, I inadvertently left one of them in my jeans pockets and failed to notice that before the jeans went into the washer and dryer. I have new batteries on order and expect that will correct the problem. The "washed and dried" battery was pretty rusty.

Well, my battery died without warning today. This video was very helpful as it was non-obvious (to me) how what turned out to be the locking screw worked. Then I had to find the 2032 batteries I knew I had bought several years ago. Turned out I (still) have ten of them!
More importantly though, the whole experience warned me (or rather my wife as it is her car) to *always carry the spare key!*. Fortunately the battery failed after she arrived home and found she couldn't lock the car - so moments away from being unable to unlock it when she was away from home. Oh dear 😞
(Just for the record, I have always carried both keys for my car with me, but more for the possibility of losing one of them - like dropping it down a drain after parking...).

The key fob took a dump today (happy easter) that being said, it lasted 10 years. Not bad. Anyway, the replacement was super easy. Spend more time cleaning it.

BTW My fFiat 500 Abarth will not start using my old spare key... Turns but won't start. Using my "regular" key, starts just fine.... very weird. Anyone know why?

I changed the battery and it still doesn’t work. I have just bought a used Fiat 500 and it came with 2 keys. The old one works fine. I tried a battery in the new one and it still doesn’t work do you have any idea why that might be? 😊
