My husband got this flooring for his 1995 extended cab. we laid our in the sun, put his shop heater blower to where it helped soften the vinyl, its extremely hard, thick and tough. so it helped some, outside remo at the time was 65. some days was going to get in the 80s, so after putting in tje padding, he layed it inside(it needed trimming) put the truck wherenit got alot of sun with all doors closed for a few days, and man it starred forming its contours like yours did in the video, making it easy to trim, he had to take it out only 2 times to get it trimmed right for the front, he measured and did all that stuff, and it fit, hes now in the process of cutting holes for wires and bolts, in between working.
Congrats you made it through! It's definitely much more difficult than people think! I've installed about 10 aftermarket kits, and 4 OEM carpet kits, it's a night/day difference. You got to fight for hours on the A/M flooring kits, but the OEM kits drop right in. Did ACC vinyl on my 85 standard cab and the experience was highly unpleasant. It looked great though!
Stiff stuff right there. I've cut that stuff wrong before too, now I make cardboard pieces for an area and transfer the cut lines onto the new product. Great editing and camera angles, and it looks great. Jim.
Thanks for the info and tips. It looks great. I’m considering taking the carpet out of my vehicle and going to vinyl. I like the idea of vinyl because I go to the desert a lot, and dealing with all the dust and dirt in the carpet is so annoying.
Honestly if this is something you’d wanna do I’d personally go carpet in the 4runner and try keeping the interior a nice refreshed oem look. They’re so hard to find in the rust free clean condition that you have and having some nice carpets would look super sick
in the future, you can use the seat rail indentations to triangulate the center of the gear shift, and from there make measurements down toward the floor of the vinyl to cut out the shifter boot section, erroring to less of a cut so that you can dial it in once its inside the cab
My friend, big detail, you should have removed the shifter plates and just make the star cut for the shifters then place the plate with screw over the vinyl to secure it under it…
I wonder if there is a bulk vinyl option out there that is thinner/easier to work with but has the same awesome texture? I imagine you could mold it to fit with a heat gun, if it is not pre-molded.
It's a great job, I am personally like Vinile better than Capet , by I like your truck , specially not only manually , but with an other twins stick . I wanna know to what purpose those twins stick stand for?. But anyway I like it , no matter what ! . Congrats ! ! . .
The twin sticks allow me to get gear reduction without being forced into 4WD. So I can go into low gear in either 2 or 4 wheel. The truck has dual transfer cases for more control off-road
Damn dude! This actually turned out way nicer than I had initially anticipated from reading others’ testimonials on tbe forums. Like I mentioned before, I did buy carpet w/ mass backing for my 86 t4r, but now I’m contemplating going the vinyl route hmmm..
Maybe check oc auto carpets? That's what I'm looking at for my 86 4runner. I haven't looked at rock auto so I don't know if there's a price difference.
Hi I don’t know if you stated where you got the vinyl from but I have an 03 ford excursion and have been trying to find a company that can sell me the fitted vinyl flooring. Do u have any info on where you got your’s or any advice? Thank you!
Sorry about that vinyl that you ordered, how did you order it or in which store did you buy it? I've been looking in stores for that style of vinyl but I get other styles. Can you tell me how you ordered it?
DON'T BUY ACC vinyl flooring mat. As you could see in the video. their vinyl doesn't match to and you will be left with big wrinkles and big bubbles that won't go away even after time. Don't waste your money and do a search for trouble or problems with ACC and you will find what i did with so many saying the same think that I experienced. Hopefully you get the warning before you have purchased and can't get your money back.
Carpet is so unpractical. Dont understood why trucks allow you to be without that ugly nasty unhygienic fabric that holds stains but trucks get the luxury of easy clean ability. I hate carpet. Worst invention ever
Currently making a center console to cover that shifter area!

Yup. Lessons learned. I think overall it went well though and thank you!

You can't always hop in the Delorean and try it again.
Makes it easier to pull the shifters out and bottom brackets on dash below the radio then it slides in
Thanks for the info and tips. It looks great. I’m considering taking the carpet out of my vehicle and going to vinyl.
I like the idea of vinyl because I go to the desert a lot, and dealing with all the dust and dirt in the carpet is so annoying.
Yep. It’s way easier to maintain.

100% agree
Mine was huge also and yes it was very hard to work with but it’s well worth it

Carpet for sure in the 4runner
I’m thinking the same. So much easier
Excellent Video All around !🎉

I totally agree! Hindsight is 20/20. Definitely something I’ll do next time.
But at least it gives me an excuse to make a custom shifter bezel now :D
Good video bro. Whatever you end up doing in the 4Runner it’s gonna look good.
Thank you! I hope so

Did you try leaving it in the sun so it warms up, gets soft and is more pliable. And would a heat gun help it mold to the floor of the truck
I definitely vote carpet in the 4Runner
Do you have the link to buy the vinyl?
Can't wait to borrow your tools... err I mean, watch you fix something I broke! Someday.... Someday!
you should use a carpet knife. it is much sharper!
Definitely will do in the future, thanks!

I think I checked it out but I forget if the price was different or not. It’s pretty cheap from rock auto.
I just ordered vinyl for my Astro van from them.
Did you get it? I'm looking at the same one from OC auto carpets, is it good?
i wonder if using a heat gun to soften the vinyl would allow it to mold better?
It’s pretty thick but yeah it would’ve helped. Over time it has settled very well and looks great!
Does it show dirt easily? Did you like it? or not so much? Thanks
Great Videa‼️‼️‼️….where did u get the Vinyl?
Rock auto!

Do you have a link for the product you used?? I have an 85 xtd cab that needs flooring and unfortunately a roof liner too…
How well does the sound deadening work? About to swap carpets in my 86 and really on the fence on whether or not to install deadener.
You should check out my other 2 sound deadening videos, I bang on a couple panels before and after and there’s a huge difference.
Nice work where can I get some of that vinyl flooring for my t4r 3rd gen can you send me the link
Rockauto is where I got mine.
Do you think this would make it easier if I put the old carpet on top of the vinyl and traced it out instead of having to figure out measurements?
Probably, but cut it about 10% bigger at first so you can trim to fit
Dang man, looking good! I'd go carpet in the runner. Did you replace your floor pans? They look new!
Nope, just cleaned them up and painted! No bad rust or reason to replace em
A heat gun wouldn’t of helped mold it better?
Where did you get the 2 replacement back plastic side panels
could have used a heat gun to soften some of the harder areas to help mold it.
I agree. It settled over time and fits great now!
Can this be glued?
Where we can find the flooring....?
Link for carpet? You out of clovis?
It’s from rock auto and I’m in the Central Valley yeah
Heat gun...wear gloves and warm up the area as you work it in. Makes it soft and malleable.
Yep. Softened up over time and looks really good now!
Vinyl
Where did you get the material?
he said rock auto, my husband bought his same place, ill look and see, but it said roll out making sure 80° or more temperature. not direct sun.
Лайк кто от Сашки здесь 😊
Awesome 🤘😑😑😎😎😎

Carpet. It is way easier to install
I’m leaning towards carpet for sure. Might do vinyl in the cargo area
@@RM_Garage there you go. I was going to mention that. That would definitely be a good idea
Carpet is so unpractical. Dont understood why trucks allow you to be without that ugly nasty unhygienic fabric that holds stains but trucks get the luxury of easy clean ability. I hate carpet. Worst invention ever
Who's idea was it to invent carpet?!! A fabric you step on and weve all excepted it fornway to long. Gross
Where we can find the flooring....?
