Awesome video as always! I really enjoyed it and am slowly getting all the tools, skulls and info needed to begin. Did my first carve on a sanded down block of 2x4 last night. It wasn’t a Hunter quality piece but it’ll do for a first attempt. One question for ya...what software do you use to edit your videos? I just started filming my hunts and other adventures and need a solid tool for editing. Any help would be much appreciated. Cheers!
That's great man! Yeah just practice, it will get better quicker than you might think :) I use Sony Vegas Pro 13 for editing. Still have a ton to learn about editing but I am able to get away with the basics for now :) Thanks for watching!
Hey man, love the videos!! :) Do you still recommend the listed cutting wheel from Amazon? All the reviews are saying not to buy it because they're fakes/faulty. I'm a newb, and can't seem to find a good similar option on Amazon .com or .ca for any of them! Can you make a recent recomendation? I'm also in Canada too, thanks!
Thanks for all your inspiring videos. I found them a short while ago and am in awe : ) It is really wonderful that you share so much of your process with the world. I am a fan.
I have a small sand-blasting cabinet that I never use because I don't have an air compressor (or enough things to blast to make it worthwhile to buy one, haha!). I've been thinking about converting it into a bone carving cabinet to take advantage of the vacuum hose to suck up the bone dust before it can float all over my craft room. Right now it has the built in gloves and tiny little window and a single lightbulb. I'll definitely upgrade to better lighting, probably LED and I'll probably remove the gloves since they are cumbersome and awkward for doing detail work. What other modifications would you recommend? Or do you know of any reasons why it's a bad idea and a waste of time? Thanks! I enjoy your videos and learn a TON!
Hey Sallie! I think that is a great idea. I have seen others do a similar thing with just a cardboard box so yours would probably work better. Probably the only thing I foresee would be with larger skulls or skulls with large antlers it might be hard to move them around while working on them.
@@usskullhunter I’m sorry. My chemo brain has me beyond stupid right now. Where EXACTLY - do I find patterns? Type slowly so I fully understand where they are ‘cuz apparently I am an idiot and cannot find them. 🤦🏻♀️. Apparently you have to be VERY specific with this old broad because I can’t find them. If they are in one of your books, tell me which one.
Hi skull hunter I am looking to buy a dremel and is curently trying to decide between the dremel 4000 and the 9100 - which would you reckommend and why? The use is for bone carving and glass etching.
That's great to hear Rikke! Ok so I like the 4000 because it goes up to 35,000rpm/ The 9100 "only" goes up to 23,000rpm but does have more torque. So they are honestly both very similar in my view but I just preper the 4000 more. If you were planning to do a lot of heavy material removal then go with the 9100. Hope that helps some
U.S. Skull Hunter I’m just starting out in wood carving and Home Depot dose not have some of the smaller one have shown. Thank you again Hunter. Wish I had this video a couple of months ago, haha, but you live and learn from mistakes. Doing a great job, Hunter.
Haha you bet Jon. Yeah always learning eh :)
Awesome dude! The ending cracked me up!
Lol some people do scales but I do the dog shake hahaha

You bet!
Thanks for teaching me something new today!!
Haha good to hear!
I was wondering what works for under cutting. Great info and thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
Awesome! You bet :)
Great video, give us a better idea of what tools help make the art work come alive.
Thanks for watching Kirk!
Hello I enjoy your channel I just subscribed to it I love skulls since I was a kid and just look for them
Hey Tina that's great! Thanks for the support and watching :)
great info. many thanks.
Thanks for all your videos. I was wondering how to get some of the small dental wheel burrs you used in this video.
Hey Jim! SO if you just ask around to dentist for used burrs or ones they get that they don't use you can get 100s for free!
Hey man,
You straight. Do you always cut freehand or are there any cutting guides you sometimes use?
Hey! I do freehand and I use templates sometimes. What kind of skulls are you carving or thinking about carving?
Great work
Thanks Dale!
Great Job! Thank you!
Thanks Jacek!

Love your tutorials!!! For us that are sketching challenged - is there a place to find patterns?
Hey Ann! Thanks for watching :) I have a bunch available here if you want to take a look www.usskullhunter.com/learn-skull-carving
@@usskullhunter are the patterns in your book?
@@annlow2172 They are not, I have several different sets of templates with different themes (Celtic, etc.)

Hello Hunter,
I picked up some dentist bits and the shank is 1.57mm. Will the adjustable chuck handle that small of shaft?
Thanks, Len.
Found out it will as I didn't see your video on that. Love the videos Hunter. Thanks to you I'm going to carve some skulls.

Did you make yourself? Can you show me?
