- This is the final test of several carried out to compare performance and visual fidelity between In game Pixel Density settings, Pimax Play Resolution Settings and Open XR Toolkit Resolution override option. I can't fully explain why, but I do get much more stable performance from managing resolution of my Pimax Vision 8KX in Normal FOV mode, via Open XR Toolkit.
The reason why you'll note me nodding in the HMD and orbiting a small group of trees, is because I've long held the opinion that the LOD of trees in game is excessive, those you see in the clip are those optimised by TAZ, and they can still negatively impact frame times, that's important for me as I fly helicopters and in fairly close proximity to trees. The final resolution combined across both eyes in this test was 6750x7715 with the in game sharpening slider set at 0.5, frame times were stable, where as, in previous tests, when looking at the trees seen in this test, frame-times spiked considerably and frame rates became inconsistent. Please obviously bear in mind that video capture also results in some visual differences to what I see within the HMD.
I've reverted back to using Pimax Play version 1.30.1.0 and the Pimax XR Injector. I don't use quadviews or eye tracking for my HMD.
The low alt autorotation was just for shitz&giggles.
