Sadly some of the congressmen and senators who are in congress and the senate now when the original I'm Just a Bill was aired in 1975 are still in congress and the senate lol.
There are countless senators and members of congress that need to watch these 3 minute educational segments because it looks a lot like they have no idea how things are supposed to work. 🙄

Once upon a time you actually had to talk to filibuster. How did it reach a point where all you have to do is say filibuster and a bill is dead?
idk, but i kinda wanted to see the republicans take the majority back in the Senate, if only to watch the democrats backpedal about the "racist" filibuster.
@@BerzerkaDurk I am not following. Did I miss something about the Democrats calling it racist? The Republicans have a good chance of getting a majority in 2024, so long as the have fixed their bad candidate problem. Just like in 2018 the Senate map favors the Republicans.
The filibuster is another Democrat scheme that blew up in their face.

More laws is worse then less laws. A bill may look cute when its singing, but way less cute when it becomes a law and makes for more government employees and problems for regular people.

Except that doing nothing is still an active choice, the status quo is policy choice. Often times doing something now is less expensive then doing nothing now and being forced to deal with it later.
Most bills are written by special interest lobbyists and voted on by Senators and Representatives who never read them. Hard to put to music.
Surprised they didn't draw in the Constitution as the Biggest Obstacle of all.
Or the supreme court or santurary city tactics which is spreading, or federal judges blocking unlawfully passed laws until circuit court, or the supreme court xan review it......or any laundry other tactics.

That's the dark truth about the filibuster. A referendum is the true and only way for the bill to be passed without being blocked by the filibuster. Look at Switzerland for example, instead of MPs, Senators or representatives vote on the bill, citizens vote either for or against it. I've voted for Same Sex Marriage
But referendums are nearly impossible in the United States because we have 330 million people and over 100 million who might vote. It’s just impossible logistically

Should the lower house switch to either proportional representation or hybrid? To make it easier for third parties or "alternative voices" to get in...and break the duopoly there (I read some states have laws that set really high hurdles for most parties, but the Dems and the Republicans are "grandfathered")

Yes, the process of changing the law that affects literally every single person in the nation should be long, painful, and arduous to ensure that the effects of that bill are in fact what we want to be enacted on our society on a large scale for a long period of time. As much as this video tries to convince you that this process is a bad thing this is in fact NOT a bad thing.

How many members of Congress have read the full Budget Reconciliation Bill ? How many have read the Infrastructure Bill ? The Chips for America Act bill ?

The infrastructure bill just passes both houses of Congress. It'll be sent to President Biden's desk to be signed into a law.

The infrastructure bill was completely separate from Build Back Better, from the Omnibus, and from the billions we handed them to lower inflation( food prices are still going up by 11% and rent prices going up by 20%). We handed Obama trillions to fix the rods and bridges in 2011. If Democrats had any intention of spending infrastructure money on actual infrastructure, all of that would already have been done. I live in Minnesota, we dont have a single bridge in our state that is safe. One and only bridge that was repaired was one that collapsed a few years back killing over 30 people. No one is fixing the others. I travel to Colorado. No one is fixing anything over there either. Anything that is being done is being done with state money, which we pay insane taxes for already.
@@pedigreeann less than 10% of the 3000-page, $1.2 trillion bill went towards actually maintaining roads and bridges. "roads and bridges" is the selling point to the public. the other $1.09 trillion is being spent on pet projects, creating bureaucracies, and such.
as an example, in this bill, just as much as what was spent for highway repair is also being spent on "making school lunches greener" whatever the hell that means.

it's a steady decline for the United States, can't effectively govern, spending astronomical amounts on an overstretched military machine, shrinking middle class, a genuine movement for fascism, environmental decline, health decline, quality of life decline, happiness decline, rise in anti social behaviour, opioid epidemic, economic crisis on the horizon. Not sure what the American dream is supposed to be, but it's sad people still believe in the system when they only need to see what's right in front of them.
