It’s not the cost of third part add-ons I object to, it’s the hassle of figuring out which add-ons I actually need, and then trying to make them all work. If Microsoft just works well out of the box they will wipe the floor with everyone else.
yep.... i am returning to flight sims and 2020 will be my go to sim for the simple reason... map is well... earth..... it already looks gorgeous from the start etc.. i have already heavy modded games on my library and would love to avoid huge amount of add on related puzzle work for a while.. 2020 will allow that.
Ian Howlett that’s what I’m saying. Plus you get aircraft that are payware in X plane 11 that are pretty much free out of the box. I can’t wait for MFS2020 to come out.
Looks like FS2020 will be a better overall product in terms of value and user friendliness (for those that aren't into modding). I do wonder how the payment model for FS2020 will be considering it uses Azure and webservices. I've just recently purchased xplane 11 too after purchasing some HW upgrades for my PC.
Anakin Skywalker it won’t be anywhere near mfs 2020. Microsoft is a huge competitor with lots of power and knowledge you think xplane will beat them? Lmaoo
@@cancelanime1507 X Plane 12 won't get anywhere near the standard of MSFS2020. It took a huge team of people years to make that sim and you also need a huge AI server farm like Microsoft Azure, which Laminar Research don't have. You also need all of Bing Earth's satellite images which takes up 2 petabytes of data (2,000 TB). If it could have been done to that standard, I'm sure Laminar would already have done it. What Microsoft and Asobo Studios are doing right now with MSFS2020 has never been done before, not just in a flight sim but in any game. This is literally next gen stuff.
@@cancelanime1507 X plane will never have the resources or partnerships Microsoft has. In order to create this new MFS world, they have all google world information. X plane is never and can never create a world sized game, and anything they make is going to have to be downloaded to YOUR PC, so that's going to limit everything.
I just started learning to fly with X-Plane 11 to show and enjoy my skills in FS2020. The movie of my Cessna flight I dropped today is my very beginning. I'm waiting very excited for the FS2020 release day.
You forgot one thing: Microsoft Flight Simulator has a complete offline mode as well. So even if you can't download any region of the world you can still play it.
Here's the problem I have ALWAYS had with MS people. YOU DON'T PLAY A SIMULATOR!!!! IT'S NOT A GAME!!!! IT'S A SIMULATOR! You fly it. Too many of you are looking for a game, not a sim.
It's been 5 years since i left the sim world for different reasons, i played only in FSX and loved to fly the PMDG 737, now with FS2020 man the hype is on, i dont care if i have to sell a kidney for a new PC....
THere will be no huge PC requirements guess that midrange PC, which currently mean 6c/12t CPU (Intel or AMD) with 16/32GB RAM and midrange GPU like RX5700XT or RTX2070S will be enough to run it smoothly at FHD. X-Plane, P3D and FSX uses old engines which cant utilize you HW properly.
@Todd m "This is the worst time to build a pc" You are wrong. You can buy very good CPU for really low price (Ryzen 5 1600, new ones on 12nm process, Ryzen 5 2600, Ryzne 5 2700), same for GPUs, midrange CPUs like RX5700XT or RTX2070 Super are strong GPUs with enough perfromance. Memory hits historical minimums, SSDs are so cheap too. Now we have great time to build PC. And no NVIDIA will no lower prices, they are at good position, Just look at new AMD GPUs, latest 5500XT have worse price/perfromance ratio than similar NVIDIA GPUs. Today they will release 5600XT, they did some clock adjustsment few days ago to be more competitive as NVIDIA adjusted price of 2060 non Super.
@@davidperez7755 You will be able to run it, but I cant tell you how it will perfrom. It is laptop or some all in one. For me it is not enough setup for just play video games at FHD resulution. With laptop you have enve take in account TDP configuration of that model and how good cooling solution it have. Look at heatsinks for desktop CPUs, look at heatsinks of GPUs, look at fans used on desktop, now look at your laptop... For example I have 2070S Gaming X Trio, triple fan beast, same as Scythe Ninja 5... Just heatsinks of those coolers are similar weight as many laptops.
I have used X-Plane 10 and X-Plane 11 in the past, along with P3D and FSX, even Flight Sim World. I was using X-Plane 11 when the first MSFS 2020 trailer dropped, then I uninstalled it lol. I even bought a whole new PC just to play MSFS 2020 when it drops sometime this year, it will literally change flight simming forever, absolutely cutting edge technology.
As far as I’m aware, Microsoft has a massive team working on this. X-Plane does not. Also, Microsoft does not necessarily have to make a profit from this product. It’s not even a fair fight.
yeah xplane will be around but i fear it will fail, but let be fair laminar research havent really done MUCH with xplane thats worthy of buying, that and banning perople from the forum that they dont agree with, RIP xplane
The Simple answer is why choose, why not just fly both. I've been flight simming since 2012 and used FSX, P3D versions 3 and 4 and also X-Plane 10 and more recently 11. X-Plane 11 has become my default simulator but still enjoy jumping back to P3D and taking the Majestic Dash 8 our for a spin. I will no doubt be picking up this sim once it's released. You don't need to pick just one you can fly both.
@@Kron1K_ You are wrong. You probably comapring it to X-Plane, P3D or FSX, try AFS2 for example, sim which does not use 10yrs old graphic engine can push 200+ FPS with maxed out settings and same visual quality. Everything what you can see is ingame footage, no renders. Some people was able to touch it in real live and perfromance was great, at least in comparsion to current old shool sims. If you will get 10th generation i5 or Ryzen 5 with 16GB of RAM and RX5700XT/2070 Super, which is midrange gaming PC, you will be at sweet spot for Full HD resolution
The main thing that I’m curious about with Microsoft 2020 is how they will manage multiplayer and specifically ATC. I’m extremely curious to see how people will access ATC, specifically what qualifications someone will need to be an ATC, and if there will be the ability to have multiple people playing as ATC at different airports within one server.
From www.flightsimulator.com/ Note - due to the increasing demand for multiplayer information, we have swapped release dates for Episode 7 (IFR) and Episode 8 (MP). Episode 8 will now be released on March 12th Episode 7 will now be released the end of March. There you go, you'll find your answer very soon, MS will publish video with MP information.
X plane 11 is a very good flight sim! I have been playing it for over 2 years now. But I will definitely switch to Microsoft 2020 because of the weather/ aerodynamics and detailed scenery! I am a glider pilot in real life and those upwind in X plane are not realistic, they are simply auto-generated and linear. You often fly slowly in the thermal. In X plane 11 you can hold the stick completely backward and the plane won't stall. On the one hand, there is only a small chance to stall, on the other hand, when you are in a spin you cannot end it. That is annoying! The animation with the Cessna gave me prove! The detailed scenery makes it even better! Hangs and mountains with actual altitudes at the right location. Towns, Streets, Roads, Lakes, etc. We glider pilots use them for orientation. VFR is now possible! This precise data can also be used to practice outlandings on different terrain or simply difficult approaches! ( Courchevel )Of course, you cannot compare a sim with reality. I especially play them in the Winter season to keep my training and knowledge up to date! I hope this sim will give us what is promised and shown in those videos! Greetings from Germany!
I'm not sure what you've been flying, but I can stall all kinds of things in X-plane. Granted I'm not a glider pilot, so I can't comment on how good or bad the modelling of thermals is. On the other hand, I have a model of the exact same aircraft I fly in real life, so I can do a like for like comparison in flight behaviour. Stall characteristics of the virtual aircraft, landing approach speeds, engine RPM, turning behaviour, is all very close to the real thing. The one major and consistent issue in terms of flight characteristics is that X-plane has some kind of bug or engine limitation that causes it to overdo engine torque effects. On the simulated aircraft, if you let go of the stick the aircraft will roll to the left over about 10 seconds... If you let go of the stick on the real aircraft, it will remain level. (though might pitch up or down depending on your trim settings.) Aerodynamic accuracy is one of the few things X-plane does well compared to what else exists so far... Fingers crossed FS2020 can do better, but... It's still a sim, at the end of the day...
@@KuraIthys The stalling is not really the problem. The spinning after stall is in my opinion total unrealistic if you compare it to reallife. But I can only give impressions of spinning in a motor glider / glider! Which plane are you flying in reallife? ( I am interested )
Probably less than you would think. From a distance it's very likely just Bing maps at moderate to low resolution, then up close it's just Bing maps with 3D elements, water, and so on... mostly pre-calculated and loaded in chunks in advance... In some ways, this could be easier to run than most AAA games... but it will be more data heavy, so VRAM and bandwidth will likely be important more so than ever.

@@looncraz " but it will be more data heavy, so VRAM and bandwidth will likely be important more so than ever." I'd say less since its streamed from an AZURE server..AZURE has the power you have the display.
X-plane is pretty good, but I do hope the added pressure of having a real competitor again (And one that looks like it's going to be quite impressive) will provide them with incentive to try and improve on things... X-plane has some major structural limitations that have been with us for a very long time though. I mean, I've been trying to do the groundwork on building a high detail Concorde model and along the way I discovered that much like even X-plane 8, we are still stuck with aircraft models being limited to 8 fuel tanks (Concorde has 11, and several of them are critical to it's flight transition from subsonic to supersonic). It has VR support but it's core rendering assumptions don't line up well with the requirements for VR... It cannot do dynamic seasons, since there is only a single set of world texture data that cannot be changed in-engine. This means everything looks identical whether you're flying in summer or winter, and if you do a long-distance flight across the globe, you won't see any seasonal changes reflected in the terrain... There's just a bunch of things that are kinda... Limiting things at such a fundamental level that it'd be hard to ever improve on them... Plus, they don't have the kind of resources or connections required to get access to large amounts of satellite data. (unless something similar to OSM pops up.)
... well, as a long time XP user I will stay for now. Competition between the two is a good thing for us, it force both XP and FS to get better and better. I think it is safe to say that XP will have to come up with something very soon. That means before I start investing in another sim, where there are not a lot addons yet, I like to sit back and see what XP's answer will be. For newbies it is I think a no brainer, FS2020 looks indeed very very nice. Lets go Xplane, show me what you got! :)
for me my flight time with x plane only lasted a few hours when i flew over the golden gate bridge and all i saw was a concrete bridge, I figured whats the point
Well, that seems to be some time ago, because the actual version of X-Plane has the real red version of the bridge as many of the known Skyskrapers. In fact they release updates for several cities around the globe every few months.
@ Heaven forefend a game be released with actually accurate scenery. You buy a game to get the game, not to get some code where you have to spend weeks scouring the internet for extra payware, just to make the game playable. That's not lazy, it's called expecting a service that you paid for.
For a change life is treating me well, this year i will get an inheritance that will allow me to upgrade my pc to any standard, just need to find out what min and max spec it will require to get the best from Microsoft's new sim
I think XPlane should be very worried. XPlane’s 1990’s scenery & crap 💩 frame rate(out of the box) will need to improve a lot to keep up. DCS & IL2 knocks it out of the park in that respect.
Hey Matt I'm just curious what makes you think that even though the scenery is going to be streamed to your computer via the Internet that you were going to get great frame rates? The computer still has to render all those images trees Lakes airports Etc... I think we should just wait and see what the new simulator has to offer I'm sure it's going to be incredible since Microsoft is extremely wealthy and has the ability to have the best programmers on staff. Let's not forget the very beginning of laminar was just a small company.
Gemster18 Well it couldn’t have any worse frame rate than XPlane. I’m not expecting huge FPS numbers. I’ve got a pretty decent rig. i7 8700k RTX2060 16Gb ram SSD ect Not the fastest but decent. I’m lucky if I get 30fps in XPlane. Introduce weather AI or a big city & that plummets to unplayable levels. With the crap scenery. I just think XPlane have something to worry about & should of fixed the FPS issue by now.
@@matk4731 im gonna be super honest with you here man...our rigs were similar because i too had a 2060...but if you're wanting ultra graphics and fpa above 30 fps youre going to need to upgrade that 2060. I am usining a 2080 now and my fps is above 40-50 anywhere i go in any weather and tbh my guy...the graphics at least now on xplane are very very very convincing. Besides the default weather that is.but i use x enviro which can be seen here th-cam.com/video/pl13aPyAUb0/w-d-xo.html. Im excited for this sim but x-plane is simply one of the best. If you're having fps issues try turning your settings down a bit. You have a good rig but for these flight Sims you really need super rigs lol. If realism if what your going for that is. No disrespect just some insight. I loved my 2060 but i had the same issue on x plane given the quality i was looking for. Upgrade the GPU and x plane will run amazing on high/ ultra presets with mods.
XChanlowX Thanks for the tip on the GPU. I am only running mid to low settings in XPlane. All of my other sims DCS IL2 & Arma 3 all run at 80 to 100 fps with everything turned up & they have a lot more going on with AI, bombs exploding ground units ect. XPlane should run way better than it does with not much going on & I run it out of the box with just a few free plugins & some of the free aircraft. My rig cost me 3k a few months back if I had put a 2080 in it would of been 4.5-5k most people can’t afford nor justify spending that sort of coin on a PC. I may upgrade in the future. This is where XPlane falls on its face you shouldn’t have to have a top of the line PC too run it.
I'm just starting out with at home flight sims. This video is great, except what is "VR"? After watching this video I still don't know which one to start out with. I'm a retired airline pilot and need some advice on which program to use.
I started with FSX way back and then switched to X-Plane. I'm excited about MSFS but that doesn't mean that X-Plane will be dead to me. More competition means better products that in the end is an advantage to us, users. You have to consider that many people still enjoy FSX or P3D even though they're based on ancient platforms, because they care more about the planes and the simulation rather than cool graphics.
Fs2020 Will not only be about cool graphics! Far from it! Yes the graphics is also way better than any of the current sims. But fs2020 will also bring about advanced flight dynamics. Very advanced Weather and wind patterns, that flows realistic around and over mountains. Also under, inside, and over cloudformations. Microsoft has plenty of competent people, and resources to pull this of, compared to both Locheed Martin P3D or Laminars Xplane.
Few cons for now: 1. We don't even know how it will look in real life 2. What sort of rig you will need to run new sim? 3. Flight model realism? Stall, spin, helicopter models were all off in FSX, and a lot better in Xplane. No simulator is like real life flying, but MS sims laged behind Xplane for a long time. Best to wait and see before deciding.
I have both sims, so i am not fan biased. Historically, x plane uses blade element theory, while ms simulators used lookup tables. You might disagree, but imo, x plane is better at flight modeling. In other words, you can put a whale in fsx, say it's a cessna 172 and sim will fly it as cessna. In x plane, even if you put wings on that whale, it will compute flight model of whale with wings, and fly it as such. I am not saying this will be the case in new sim, i was just answering based on my experience.
1: all coverage is ingame footage, so wi will get same what we see on videos 2: midrange PC will be enough, so if you run XP or P3D well, you will run it well too. XP and P3D cant utilize your HW as they used old singlethreaded rendering engines. 3: flight model is primarily based on plane author. XP have great flight model, but only if airplane developer do it correctly. I know many XP aiprlanes which are really bad, same as I know many P3D/FSX planes which are really good
Yeah, coverage was from in game, but what rig pushed that? Never in history of gaming was mid range rig able to push this level of details. I agree on model development, but historically, MS lagged behind in this area.
I gave the B7478i a quick spin and you cannot access the CHECKLISTS, and a few FMC functions just don’t work. Is this something you expect to be updated? Did previous versions have this ability? And news of a B777-300ER add on? I’m looking at this from a real world airline usability. Thanks
To everyone who's posting videos PLEASE stop adding that annoying music ! It contributes absolutely nothing and is always too loud in relation to speech. But thanks to all who post these videos on TH-cam. Keep them comming.
Sorry Eddy, no music and I don't make video's. And you can clearly hear my voice. I made sure of that. With saying that, thanks for stopping by and checking out this video. Cheers!!
I'd buy the one that has the best representation of regional Australia. Too many times have various sim games virtually ignored us down here, and thus I'll pick the has the best look for BTH, and allows me to fly over my little town nearby, and see my house...well the town at least.
I fly X-plane almost exclusively in Australia... And it does really well on road layouts nowadays. (like, scarily accurate). But, ground detail and accuracy of buildings is less impressive. Given that I've flown over a virtual version of the same town I've had flying lessons in, I've got a real point of comparison. The street layout was near flawless. The hills we officially use to denote airspace boundaries are present and accounted for, railways are present. The lakes we use as reference are there and correct (but they don't look the same as they do in reality - a major lake has vast islands of weeds, which the sim doesn't show) However, while the roads are perfect, the buildings are not. While it does give a general sense of where newer and smaller buildings are, and where older, larger ones are, almost nothing matches exactly with reality. I've flown over large parts of Victoria and into the NT with X-plane, and the scenery is good enough to use basic VFR techniques with, so on that level it's a win. But in terms of accuracy to what you'd actually see when flying over a city or town? Not so much. Though, you can at least count on the fact that there WILL be a town, with buildings and correct street layout. The streets come from OSM, so if you can find it there, you'll find it in X-plane... Can't complain. But it does look like FS2020 will be on a different level in terms of accuracy...
I am a commercial single engine land/sea pilot with instruments. After only ever using a Mac I bought a PC fast enough to run X-plane. After downloading the program I was disappointed to learn that I had to add on scenery. This was such a complicated process for me, because it required a strong working knowledge of windows and because it used terminology that I did not understand, that I finally gave up. And boy did I try to make it work. I even hired a young gamer but he could not install the scenery either. I am anxiously awaiting MFS 2020. I’m looking forward to getting back in the virtual air. The great failing was the assumption by X-plane and it’s third-party developers that anyone attempting to use the program is an expert in windows.
I am a Windows and Linux expert and I have X-Plane 11 installed on my Windows 10 Pro desktop computer and in some cases I've spent a lot more time trying to figure out the quirky behavior with XP than flying. Yes, you can find helpful tips on how to correct certain quirks and bugs on TH-cam and X-Plane forums, but when you download and install XP 11 updates, there is a chance that the corrections or customizations you made will break the simulator after you install the updates.
I have been flying Xplane 11 a couple years and still fly every weekend. I am still a bit bitter at Microsoft Flight Sim X because I bought it and spent over $100 on DLC and planes only to have them gone. I will probably end up getting 2020 though. Some of my first Flight Simming was with Microsoft Flight back in the early 90s. Very first was Sopwith on my cousin's computer, mine at the time didn't have the power to run it. We have come a long way since then.
After dumping thousands of dollars into Microsoft flight sim products and subsequent P3D versions, I gave it up around V3 of P3D. Just got tired of spending the money on P3D version updates and fiddling with the damn sim to make it work like I want it to. With MFS 2020, they have my full attention. We probably have the better part of a year to save up $$$ for a new PC, hardware etc., so that's what I'll be doing. I'm cautiously optimistic, but from what I've seen so far, Microsoft has me extremely excited to get back into the hobby.
Brissi I hope so!! Imaging x plane going partnership with Google so they can use Google Earth? Bingo!! We will get msfs 2020 and x plane competing in an whole new level again. That can only benefit us flight simmers!!
I guess the question I have that wasn't answered in the review, and to be fair I haven't looked at subsequent reviews yet to determine if the question was answer, would be, how is the integration with monitors and cockpit peripherals? Well X-Plane works with with a multitude of yokes, peddles, simulated instruments, radios, triple screens (albeit with a touch of programing skill and finding the right third party apps) will Microsoft Flight simulator do the same. Can I put together a sim station with triple monitors, a Honeycomb yoke, peddles, and logitech radios, nanu throttle quadrant and expect it to run, or will I have hours of set up? That would be good to know.
How can you even compare the two ? one has been around years now, and the other is only JUST coming out in 2020 as an alpha, not even in beta yet, and as alpha looks better than many aspects of X-Plane.... I'm jumping ship!
Can't wait for MSFS2020. Years ago I spent half my life with the MS versions building scenery and flying. I took a few years leave of absence (along with real flying) and now that I'm getting current again in the real world I've been using X-Plane 11 and have enjoyed it a lot. The pro aircraft models are very realistic. But - I am expecting a LOT from this new 2020 sim, and I highly preferred the radio communication in FSX as compared to X-Plane 11 for real world realism, so I'm hopeful that MS 2020 will have even improved on the radio/ATC realism from FSX. I am going to plunge into high end PC gear too $$$$$.
All I can say is that after my hands on with the new sim and being able to test out a bunch of situation you guys are in for a MEGA surprise!!! MSFS 2020 really is on a different level. If NDA's werent in place you'd be mind blown with what's coming! Prepare to not just have your jaws dropped but more like fking ripped off! XP11 and P3D look awful against this in all aspects
@@Rotor-Sims Too right buddy! Even in it's current state it's so so awesome one just cant look at the others. @@AusFlightSimmer Theres an interview with Jorg Neumann, head of Microsoft Flightsimulater dev. Team. There he says: With 3 or 4 megabits per second (Mbps) you will already be able to have a good representation of the world. Among other techniques, we cache the data, so if you fly over an airport and then move back to that place, that data does not need to be reloaded. For the same reason the realism of the terrain will improve as you fly several times over the same place. But you don't need super fast connections anyway. With approximately 10 Mbps you can already have all the level of realism that the simulator offers. I love XP11, I've put a lot of hours into it but the hassle of fiddling with add ons gets exhausting. I'm very excited about MFS2020 as many of the add ons we pay for in XP come right out of the box and they look superb. But Aerodynamics is no.1 for me! If FSM2020 doesn't beat XP11 with that then I'll be sticking with XP11.
I'll probably slowly transition to MSFS 2020 from xplane. Definitely will move my Fseconomy over to the new one, and transition more as larger aircraft like PMDG come out
Hey I know I'm late but does anyone know if which allows you to be an ATC? Or is there an simulator for ATC? I'm currently undergoing training to become an ATC and I would love to have a sim that would allow me to practice. I would really appreciate your help!
We are looking forward to MSFS20 and hoping it's more stable in VR than VR X-Plane. In our test flights X-Plane VR is not consistent and not ready for commercial use.
We've got to wait for MSFS2020 to drop first, and then see what Laminar drops for Xplane 12. That will be a fair comparison. Right now we are looking at a 3 year old X-plane against marketing material of a sim that isn't released yet (and won't be for at 6-12+ months). Shipping product vs shipping product. Only way to do it fair. I will say leveraging Bing ortho is brilliant and should make simming more affordable and more beautiful. Maybe we'll see Laminar go with a Amazon or Google partnership for streaming ortho? We will also have to see Laminar to either offer a lot more weather, ground, season, ATC fidelity out of the box. Again they will have to come up with a solution themselves, or partner with a one of the preferred software developers and make them first party.
@@jirikocman I suspect that a PC in the USD 1,000 - USD 1,250 range will be enough to run a very basic version of this new simulator. If the software really is as good as it seems, I want to run it absolutely maxed out to get the full effect. My Mac is 7 years old, so I tell myself I'm ready for an upgrade! Is the Yoke bearing less or even better does it use a Linear bearing? Looking for the full experience. Would love to learn to actually fly one day in the future.
Nice comparison. Still, I was hoping to hear about computing and internet requirement differences. For example, X plane needs more or less hardware? How much internet bandwidth for FS2020? Can I use a junky old computer with either?
What about g1000 on fs2020? It Is fidelity? SID and STAR are simulated? I'm a little disappointed with how it is simulated on xplane .... can we expect a better simulation?
Its been awhile since I've done the flight simulator, but I'll be honest, Microsoft flight simulator may just get me back into the game. It really looks like they have stepped up their game.
You talk about X Planes upcoming Vulkan update. Do you mean the one they've been promising for over 2 years? As it happens I have XP 11 with all of the ORBX GB scenery and 5 ish GA aircraft (airliners do nothing for me) and I like it a lot. I do get frustrated with the poor optimisation though and I'm using a Ryzen 5 3600 and a 2080ti, and then to be told I need an intel processor, by a lot of XP users! I really hope MS Flight Sim 2020 delivers, if it does a fair number of players will leave XP. Stunning scenery, without the need for expensive add ons, plenty of default aircraft and vfr flying out of the box. It seems too good to be true though so I suppose it's best to wait and see how it turns out :))

I'm looking getting back into flight simulation, originally I started with Microsoft Flight Sim back in the day and thoroughly enjoyed it after spending hundreds of hours flying the sim. I'm really excited after seeing this video in purchasing Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 but as I've been out of the scene as to speak I have a couple of questions without sounding like a drop kick, question one is what type of system would I require to run 2020 as I wish to purchase a new gaming computer and I'm open to suggestions please, questions two is as to where can I purchase Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 from, would greatly appreciate any form of feedback, happy flying guys.
It’s going to be all over for every other sim when FS2020 launches. Harsh, but true. To be fair, though, we’ve waited for so long for a true next gen flight simulator. I just hate to think of the money I’ve spent trying to make a silk’s purse out of a sow’s ear. Add on developers have done very well for a long time, thanks to the relative platform stability. There was no way that would last forever. Hopefully FS2020 makes the need for constant tweaking a lot less necessary. It looks to be a very self sufficient sim out of the box, quite possibly greatly reducing the need to buy scenery add ons, especially regions. No VR at first isn’t a big deal in the wider scheme of things, but will at least give other sims a little breathing room in a niche market.
Haha, no worries@@AusFlightSimmer , i like your videos and have been a subscriber recently :) keep them coming. I know it ain't easy having to produce content, i also recently embarked into creating gaming tutorials for black desert online for the past 3 months, its not easy but when you get the support from viewers, it really helps fuel that motivation. So keep your contents coming :)
Already budgeting for a 2 terabyte nvme m.2 drive for this... I have a $6000 rig built for P3D because for me, that was the killer app. An interesting thing was that when I went to one of Melbourne's best PC stores, the salespeople were able to make suggestions straight away for the best P3D build. That might mean that if MSFS2020 works with Australia's NBN, it could be a big bonus for hardware retailers too. I was surprised by how many customers were like me. Middle aged and buying high end rigs for flight simulations. BTW, just received my Honeycomb yoke - wow!
Well I'm still flying in FSX at the moment with old computer, that's about to change with a new gaming rig on the horizon some time after Christmas. So I will go from Microsoft to Microsoft. For once it's payed off to be years out of date!
I've both and finally I prefer from far X-plane. A more modern simulation. Not only for visuals but for the simulation itself. Even if I know that default ATC sucks. But I found correct plugins who do the difference. But, because weather and simulation seems to be better than ever in FS2020. I will take it, as my third simulator. The advantage after meteo, is no needs of satellite images. So I will passed my time to fly than build ortho4xp ^^ And don't forget than behind this new simulator, it's the Asobo's French team who works for Microsoft ;)
Me too but I don't intend to break the bank. $100 Intel B550 chipset boards will be available from June as will AMD's 4.3Ghz X3300 cpu ($120). I'll make do for now but plan to get PCIe 4.0 graphics once prices have settled. If nothing else FSX will run like a dream.
I have answered this in many comments all ready. This was more an education piece, to help new simmers either decided to pick something up now, wait or both. Cheers, thanks for the comment.
AWSOME video!!!!! Towards the end of this video you said that both sims have there pros and cons..I heard that cons for X-Plane.... What are the cons for Microsoft 2020?
Well at this stage we are only seeing what we have been showed. So it would have to be all the default features that are included out of the box. It seems like it will be a more complete sim, than other in the past. Time will tell. Kendal thanks for stopping by :)
@kendalStewart. You are going to need a super fast Internet connection to stream all that Scenery. Would be my guess... and I'm sure, it won't be backwards Compatible... so all those cool programs that we have right now for FSX, for example the little navmap, or flight Sim Commander, Pro ATC X, FS PASSENGERS....ETC.. none of that stuff will work
No VR support for 1. FSX cockpit camera for 2. Inferior flight dynamics for 3. Much smaller terrain tesselation for 4. Mountains scale, hills, all scaleform etc look much more larger in real life. The list could go on for both platforms pros and cons to be honest.
@@maydaygoingdown5602 1. Headsets will most likely be supported by launch. 2. They're doing completely new cameras, including a bunch of realism stuff for the cockpit camera that's supposed to accurately model tons of forces on the pilot's head. 3. Not sure where you're getting that from. 4. The world scaling will be about the most accurate thing ever produced for PC rendering. If it looks too small in the game it's because you don't have your screens set up right. The cheap way to do VR is with a headset, but they're also supposed to be supporting multi-monitor setups so you can get the angle and FoV right if you want to do proper VR with a home cockpit and surround monitors.
The biggest con will be the need for either very fast internet or a very beastly computer if you want all those gorgeous pixels, but it's hard to call "better graphics" a con. From the sounds of things, minimum requirements may be heavier than XP11, which would be an actual con. An obvious con is that MSFS doesn't currently exist, while XP11 is ready to play right meow. Depending on what features MSFS ships with, XP11 might have better support for certain features. For example, I know people currently have live humans running ATC on some XP11 servers (with varying quality levels); if MSFS didn't have that on launch, it could be a problem for people who enjoy that. For people who already have an XP11 setup, the next con is the simple fact that any existing addons you have won't be supported by the new sim. There's also the problem that you'll have to spend a ton of time getting the new sim setup for your hardware and learn the new interfaces. You may also have to develop a new group of people to sim with if you're a multiplayer type, depending on whether all your copilots hop over to the new sim or not. (Of course, these aren't really cons of MSFS so much as cons of moving to any new sim, but they're very real issues for some people.)
MSFS is coming. not a ghost sim. all the guys that went to the session with asobo in september raves about the new sim as a game changer. the environment is about to change. maybe all the sim bashing will stop now
I will defernetley be moving to ms 2020 performance Is not optimised on xplane 11 as I have high end computer struggle keep 25 /30 fps specs are i7 7800x 32gb ram rtx 2080
Hold on... When talking about aerodynamics at 9:00, the aircraft appears to pivot about the horizontal stabilizer. I realize the camera is fixed to the plane, but the physics appear way off.
Underrated TH-camr! I've been reading the comments and you reply to ALL of them. That's dedication! Also, an amazing video! Thank you for your hard work!!
2020 will allow that.
all that and everything in xp looks like dog shit 10yo gfx.. except the aircraft, those looked ok
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!! If worms had machine guns, birds wouldn't fuck with them...

Let's cross fingers it's amazing. Thanks for the comment.
@@jirikocman you think i can run it with Intel i7-9750H, GTX 1660 Ti, 16GB RAM??

I do the same thing. Thanks for checking out the video.
Is there any issue installing both XPlane and MSFS?
Whom are you kidding FS2020 win all fronts even before it is released
Time will tell I guess :)
only if you own a NASA supercomputer :')

Non-sense. Gamers will love FS2020 but not the general aviation pilots.
Great comment Michael, thanks for stopping by.
I'm ready for MFS 2020 and I have the same question as I hate when we're trying to play serious and get a shitty ATC

Thanks for the comment Leon. Cheers mate!!!
(though might pitch up or down depending on your trim settings.)
Aerodynamic accuracy is one of the few things X-plane does well compared to what else exists so far...
13:05 Update: Microsoft has officially announced that VR will be supported in the new FS2020.
Yes, but not for launch, thanks for checking out the video.
Think the question is what kind of hardware is going to be needed for this level of realism?
Time will tell, but it’s a question that a lot of people are asking. Cheers
@@looncraz " but it will be more data heavy, so VRAM and bandwidth will likely be important more so than ever."
I'd say less since its streamed from an AZURE server..AZURE has the power you have the display.
Thanks for checking out the video and your comment.
THIS ENTIRE STATEMENT IS MORONIC!!!! HOW MANY PLANES NEED MORE THAN EIGHT FUEL TANKS??????

Comments have been pretty good, this was more of an education piece. Thanks for the comment.
... well, as a long time XP user I will stay for now. :)
100% agree with you on that Jonas. Cheers mate.
X Plane 11 is now Upgrading to Next Gen
for me my flight time with x plane only lasted a few hours when i flew over the golden gate bridge and all i saw was a concrete bridge, I figured whats the point
Maybe 2020 might be more suited to you? Thanks for stopping by.
Well, that seems to be some time ago, because the actual version of X-Plane has the real red version of the bridge as many of the known Skyskrapers. In fact they release updates for several cities around the globe every few months.
lol
@ Heaven forefend a game be released with actually accurate scenery. You buy a game to get the game, not to get some code where you have to spend weeks scouring the internet for extra payware, just to make the game playable. That's not lazy, it's called expecting a service that you paid for.
I was disappointed by the graphics lol
For a change life is treating me well, this year i will get an inheritance that will allow me to upgrade my pc to any standard, just need to find out what min and max spec it will require to get the best from Microsoft's new sim
Time will tell Andy. Thanks for checking out the video mate. :)
Wonder if the sound engine will be as good as the graphics
John, for sure. Check out this video. th-cam.com/video/r1zlqGEUnbs/w-d-xo.html
I think XPlane should be very worried. XPlane’s 1990’s scenery & crap 💩 frame rate(out of the box) will need to improve a lot to keep up. DCS & IL2 knocks it out of the park in that respect.
Time will tell Mat, thanks for stopping by. Cheers mate.
Gemster18
Well it couldn’t have any worse frame rate than XPlane.
XChanlowX
Thanks for the tip on the GPU.
I have a bunch of VR videos on the channel. Recommend checking them out first. Cheers
Very true, thanks for the comment :)
I’m switching to MFS2020
Thanks for the comment and stopping by....

Say yes To bank fraud Same
@CORN_ZEUS21 hope you get one the one x is recommended I got it for Christmas
@CORN_ZEUS21 it wont be on that due to exclusive reasons
Few cons for now:
1. We don't even know how it will look in real life
2. What sort of rig you will need to run new sim?
3. Flight model realism? Stall, spin, helicopter models were all off in FSX, and a lot better in Xplane. No simulator is like real life flying, but MS sims laged behind Xplane for a long time.
Best to wait and see before deciding.
Totally agree, time will tell.
number 3 is a moot point, xplane 11 came out AFTER FSX so how can this even come out of your mouth are you seriouly smoking weed!
1: all coverage is ingame footage, so wi will get same what we see on videos
2: midrange PC will be enough, so if you run XP or P3D well, you will run it well too.
Thanks

Can you use the nav systems in 2020? Like program g1000? all the switches like generators, fuel management switches like aux tanks etc?
I'd buy the one that has the best representation of regional Australia. Too many times have various sim games virtually ignored us down here, and thus I'll pick the has the best look for BTH, and allows me to fly over my little town nearby, and see my house...well the town at least.
Thanks for the comment and checking out the video.
The lakes we use as reference are there and correct (but they don't look the same as they do in reality - a major lake has vast islands of weeds, which the sim doesn't show)
However, while the roads are perfect, the buildings are not.
We certainly have Rolf :)
Totally agree with you on that.
So will x-plane 12 follow the same route scenery wise?
Who know. But the XP team said they have some great things planed for us in the future. Wait and see I guess.
After failure of Stadia I am concern about downloading all that maps in real time without significant input lag.
Time will tell, thanks for stopping by :)
MSFS 2020 does all rendering locally. Download maps will not effect input lag.
@@yaosio That is cool. Cheers.
How can you even compare the two ? one has been around years now, and the other is only JUST coming out in 2020 as an alpha, not even in beta yet, and as alpha looks better than many aspects of X-Plane.... I'm jumping ship!
This video is merely to help people new to simming, which sim to get for them. Do they pick up something now or wait :) Thanks for the comment..
It's 2020 now give me Microsoft Flight Simulator
Hopefully soon.
@CORN_ZEUS21 unfortunately they said September :(
That's the "teaser" date. It will be delayed until 2026. So hand here there! :)
@ZeusARXE its june where is it niot even a mention of release date.... poor
How about simulating side or forward slipping. As far as I know, xp isn't capable of do'in that?
Yep, it can. Thanks for checking out the video.
@@AusFlightSimmer good news, but when?
Gary, thanks for sharing mate. Great to hear your getting back into real world flying too :)
Why would you dump money into a product that doesn't exist in the real world?
@@ftd1949 If you have to ask you will never understand.
Where the heck is the sim. I thought that is was supposed to be released this year and it is almost June

We don't know at this stage.. Thanks for stopping by.
@@AusFlightSimmer I have to thank u for that video
@@AusFlightSimmer Theres an interview with Jorg Neumann, head of Microsoft Flightsimulater dev. Team.
There he says:
With 3 or 4 megabits per second (Mbps) you will already be able to have a good representation of the world.

I need some tips on how to start with the sim and where should invest the money.
I don't see how anybody will be able to compete with the amount of resources and technology Microsoft is throwing at this.

Creativity, but then it'd just be a game. Honestly, It's just Microsoft and maybe Google that can do something at this scale.
What is the scene at beginning? Laminar research?
I mean the live scene
I'll probably slowly transition to MSFS 2020 from xplane. Definitely will move my Fseconomy over to the new one, and transition more as larger aircraft like PMDG come out
Yeah I think there is a few out in the community that will do the same. Thanks for stopping by...
That's a shame, I found it to be pretty good in my experience.... All ways room for improvement I guess. Thanks for taking a look at the video :)
Yeah I agree, I think we will see some features in XP development that we have been waiting to see for awhile.
This will be like the glory days of 20 years ago, when there was a sudden massive compelling reason to buy a new mega PC!
Yep, I totally agree 😁
PC for 1000-1250 USD will be enough
@@jirikocman I suspect that a PC in the USD 1,000 - USD 1,250 range will be enough to run a very basic version of this new simulator. But it feels like that would be buying a Ferrari and then only ever driving it over speed humps at 5 mph. If the software really is as good as it seems, I want to run it absolutely maxed out to get the full effect. My Mac is 7 years old, so I tell myself I'm ready for an upgrade! Assuming that buying a PC is an upgrade, not a downgrade, of course! :)

Thanks for checking out the video :)
And Orbx was the silkiest part of the ear. It will be interesting to see where they go now.

Yes, I will build a new PC once 2020 is out :) Yeah its not bad!!! Just finished recording a video for the honeycomb :)

Well I'm still flying in FSX at the moment with old computer, that's about to change with a new gaming rig on the horizon some time after Christmas. So I will go from Microsoft to Microsoft. For once it's payed off to be years out of date!
Very true. Doing the exact same thing :) Cheers
So I will passed my time to fly than build ortho4xp ^^
And don't forget than behind this new simulator, it's the Asobo's French team who works for Microsoft ;)

Quick question when is the official release date for MFS ?
No ETA at this stage!!
