This case from what I've heard is part of an overall review of older cases in California which have judgement which are no longer given or where the laws have changed. So they are not getting the review just because they got a Netflix special but because older cases with the life without parole judgement are under review overall.

@@SocialClout Almost all are affected in some form or another, but yes not all become criminals. With that said statistically majority of people serving time has experienced some kind of abuse, neglect or SA. So clearly it does have a huge impact on people, and people both react and handle things differently. For the most part unless it’s clear self defence, I believe one is responsible - but these are certainly mittigating circumstances that should have say in regards to sentencing. I think these two have served enough time.

The problem with the Menendez case and the accusations of abuse is that the boys were out of the house. The youngest one was leaving for college. The older one was already gone. They didn’t never have to see their parents again. So why did they plan this murder because it was planned And that much is proven. For the money. That the problem with the abuse case.

Unless you were abused as a kid and had the constant stress of that, you have no idea how to judge them and certainly shouldn't be keeping them in prison. It's not just their parents that made them but society. In those days, there were no school psychologists or officials at the school who would help. In fact, if you told someone, you were going to get punished for it so what did we expect to happen? Why do we see abused dogs at the shelter and understand they are biting and so give them love and support to help them but we see abused people and think they deserve more abuse?

A judge will decide Monday whether new evidence warrants a re-examination of the convictions of Erik and Lyle Menendez in the shotgun murders of their parents in their Beverly Hills home more than 30 years ago.
The brothers were found guilty of murdering Jose and Kitty Menendez in 1989 and sentenced to life in prison without parole. While their defense attorneys argued at trial that they had been sexually abused by their father, prosecutors denied that and accused them of killing their parents for money. In the years that followed, they repeatedly appealed their convictions without success.

The brothers need to remain behind bars. They were given mercy and grace by being allowed to live behind bars instead of facing the death penalty for murdering two people. Being an alleged victim of sexual assault does not give you the right to murder anyone. They were grown enough to know that they needed to cover up their crime. That means they had sense enough to go down to the police station and file a report against their parents and let the justice system handle it. I'm sure they'll probably end up getting out though because it seems as though they have a lot of sympathizers including the View panel, which is no surprise. It's the trend in our country. Compare the circumstances. Compare the verified facts. Gypsy Rose's abuse by her mother was fully documented.
There is room for some comparison: while the cases are apples and oranges, both are fruit.
      Similar but different.

Would be very sad for the dead parents to not only have been killed but to then have their reputations destroyed afterwards (assuming what the brothers are dating isn't true)

A lot of stuff NEEDS to be cleared and explored! Let them out, marijuana convictions need to be overturned 10yrs ago, finished with that grape kit bag log yet? Shall I continue? There are ppl who’ve gone to jail for contract killings and done less time. After a deadlocked jury they fought to have the information that deadlocked the jury disqualified from the second trial, otherwise they probably would’ve lost that one as well and then this wouldn’t even be a conversation.

According to the cops they have the best c files they have ever seen for someone with life without parole. They did 35 years. Remember the spending spree they went on? $50,000 for a tennis coach, $40,000 worth of clothes in the first month, rock concerts all over America, A Jeep and a Porsche, Buying a$550,000 cafe in Princeton and spending over $100,000 on restaurants ect ect
There was also no evidence of abuse at all until one month prior when they started to talk about it. And to murder the mother also. These 2 creeps are pulling the wool over some people's eye's. By all accounts they had been greedy and insidious since they were children.
