The dark humor is also prevalent in our Army barracks, our ship cabins and our flight decks. And in our police squad cars. Dark humor doesn't make a dark character, it just shows a comfort with the uncomfortable which is unfortunately necessary with some jobs. It's a way of sharing the burden, showing that you aren't alone. Sometimes children are exposed to dark things well before their time. And doctors can be wrong. I've had a doctor tell me that the bump in my chest must have always been there and I hadn't noticed. Turned out to get an infection that required surgery. Doctors can be wrong.
I remember playing this game in the arcade when I was just a little boy! 👶🏻 And somehow I didn't manage to grow up into someone who goes around running people over with his car 😮 😅
Oh, but I did. First playing as a little kid I would feel nauseous and throwup because of the gory graphic violence. Then I became numb to it. A decade later I failed my first driving test getting two dings for hitting two people. I passed the second one only because I missed the person I was going for. Today, I am a full on sociopath because of that game. Just kidding, I wasn't even born yet. It was the GTA games that turned me into a violent sociopath,
The only place I've ever seen this game was at Neal's in Concan, Texas. Supposedly most of the cabinets were destroyed and there were only around 5 left in the United States by the end of the 80s.
It’s a black comedy/social satire, but it’s also super cheesy and fun! My favorite scene is when the old folks home staff parks their patients on the road.
@@Sashazur yes and the consequences 😅 the "bullfighting" scene was interesting as well. I did like that some of the drivers and navigators had a code of honour
I read about this in a book about coin-op games. Part of the controversy had to do with a report than an early prototype of this game was found and that it was to be named "Pedestrian." This may or may not have been a lie. Also, someone took the sound clip of the "gremlins" being killed and slowed it down to where it sounded very human. They claimed this was the original clip intended for the game "Pedestrian," although it is just as likely that they sped up a stock clip of a human scream to make it sound like a gremlin for use in Death Race. Who knows what the real story is, but if they wanted controversy, they got it.
The game I often think of as like the Next Generation Death Race is Twisted Metal series for the PlayStation Do you ever remember that awful first person taxi game that was kind of like Death Race in a taxi cab called quarantine?
Video game violence moral panics.

That's funny people made such a big deal about it back then, by today's standards that's really tame
Three videos back to back. Paradise!!!
The grandfather of Carmageddon
I love that game! But they don’t let me play it on death row.

I remember the cabinet more than I remember the actual game. Coolest looking cabinet in the arcade.
I never saw the arcade game but I remember renting the NES game. It was my all time favorite unlicensed NES game.
Nice presentation mate!
Won't someone please think of the children?!!!
I NEED THE GIF NOW!
Would like to see an expanded look at the ColecoVision and the ADAM 🙏
Death Race 2000 with David Carradine and Sylvester Stallone is a pretty good banger. Definitely give it a watch if you can.

You are really on a roll right now, I'm loving it.
I played the hell out of this video game at the bowling ally. Seems nobody else remembers it though.
Once a year, I play this game at FUNSPOT in North Laconia, NH. It's one helluva cool game.

I've never heard of it, and I've been doing games since Coleco.

LaGuardia sucks & so does the airport named for him 😂
That game doesn't even seem violent at all compared to the stuff nowadays
