Palpatine, and by extension Anakin/Vader, have really become some of the most hateable villains in cinema history. Not because their personalities or motivations are unprecedentedly evil, or because no other villain has caused as much destruction. But because we get to SEE that destruction. Through The Clone Wars, Jedi: Fallen Order, and Rebels, we don't just get told that they tore the galaxy apart. We actually SEE it. We get to see how characters we cared about had their lives destroyed all over the galaxy by Palpatine's machinations and Anakin's treachery. Makes me wonder if Luke would still have seen good in his father if he'd known the whole truth of what Anakin had done, how he threw the lives of every single person who cared about him away because he didn't get a promotion, had a bad dream, and because a sith lord told him to. Watching Ahsoka idolize Anakin in TCW season 7 knowing what kind of person he really is is one of the most painful parts of that season.

Only because he killed Palpatine and still had “good in him.” Forgetting he still helped create a fascist nightmare, and supported the head of it for decades. Even after their deaths, the galaxy was fucked and continued to stay in that state for a looong time-doesn’t matter which continuity you follow Legends or Canon the galaxy took a long time to recover-so idk it irks me when people act like Anakin was totally innocent or that the galaxy was completely fine after everything
@@hannahdunlap5171 Personally I find Anakin's fall really poorly handled, in part because his behavior in the prequels doesn't seem like that of a very good person often ("I killed them, all of them!"), and also because his reasons were just.... dumb. He had a dream that told him that Padme might die in childbirth, and instead of addressing that in a sane manner, such as by making sure she has proper medical care or checking for preexisting conditions that could complicate a pregnancy, he goes IMMEDIATELY to look for some crazy dark side solution. He acts like the Jedi were keeping him and Padme apart, even though Obi-Wan and probably lots of other Jedi were aware of or at least suspected their relationship and looked the other way regardless, and of course, if he'd wanted to, he could have left the order at any time. And he's incredibly whiny and entitled when it comes to the whole "rank of master" thing. He acts like he has some right to that rank just because he's the chosen one, even though he should know damm well by now that being a jedi master takes wisdom and experience, not just midichlorians. And finally, I hate when people say his fall was because he cared too much about the people close to him, because if he'd cared so much he wouldn't have sold them all out. He would not have participated in a purge that would have killed all his Jedi friends and turned his clone friends against themselves, and he would also have recognized that Padme would infinitely prefer to risk a natural death rather than be resurrected by some dark side magic fueled by dead children. I choose to imagine an alternate story where Padme had a real life-threatening condition that couldn't be treated by conventional means, and where he didn't act so dammed self righteous on Mustafar. Still doesn't excuse his actions though.
Sayer Glasgow Yeah I agree that the prequels did mishandle his fall. Fans have to kinda cobble together Anakin’s fall as interpreted by the movies and supplementary media-The Clone Wars which I like but it’s issues with continuity and characterization is often downplayed. So adding all that together gets you a self-contradictory man who still pulls at people heartstrings cause they like the thought of his character than the actual character himself. I will say though that out of everyone Padmé is the one lacking characterization. Her portrayal is so contradictory throughout the trilogy it’s hard to get a pin on her character without it turning into a generic “girl-power” cliche.

She swings wildly from a strong, independent character who cares for Anakin but is also a hero in her own right with her own life, to a swooning caricature who does nothing but cry about Anakin and has no personality other than how much she loves Anakin. One minute she's a starry eyed damsel utterly blind in her devotion to Anakin, the next she's a capable leader who should have known better than to enter into a relationship with more red flags than the soviet union in the first place. Let's also not forget that she straight up told him that it was okay that he killed an entire village.

The true beauty of Emperor Palpatine's theme is that it doesn't need some epic moment where the music kicks into high gear or something. It is slow, somber, but most importantly, it is ominous and mysterious. A fitting theme for a brilliant madman
And fits perfectly with his scene in RoJ. Remember, there he was just an old man sitted on a chair, but you still could feel much more in it, an ominous and terrifying dark aura. We can see Luke, as our point of view, feeling the same, he was cautious and silent, because he felt the same aura. To us, the viewers, much of that implicit aura was in this song.

This song will be long remembered. In all honesty, I've been hoping you'd make a medieval Emporer theme. You did not disappoint. You did the opposite. This is better than I thought it would be.
Ironically palps is the one sith lord that broke so many rules that made his predecessors roll in their graves lol. Usually it's like there is master, there is student, student eventually beat master and become the master. But in palp's case he had at least 3 students in Maul, Dooku and Vader and also Snoke if you consider the sequel trilogy. Palps didn't really care, he only believed in unlimited power!

Perfectly captures the feel of the Emperor's presence, he might not have much in the way of goals beyond power, but he makes up for that with sheer menace.
Lucas said that Vader was able to kill Palpatine so easily because Palpatine had become an epitome of darkness. He was so consumed by the dark side that all he could feel was anger, hate, fear, etc., and he had mastered these emotions. Lucas said if Vader had attempted to kill Palpatine out of anger, greed or lust for power, Palpatine would have known it instantly. However Vader's actions weren't motivated by any of those; it was motivated by love for his son, and love was an emotion Palpatine had no understanding of. Therefore, because he acted out of love, he was able to take Palpatine by surprise and kill him before he knew what was going on. Amazing writing!

This new and planty image of Palpatine looks pretty amazing. I love his noble robes and how they turn from precious and wealthy to dark and creepy. It`s a pitty we have never got to see him in those robes!

I'm literally having goosebumps. That's one thing about Palpatine's theme, there's something ancient and evil underneath it. Like there's no glory or happiness in it, only a sickening, evil triumphing over good. William did an amazing job with this.

He would not have participated in a purge that would have killed all his Jedi friends and turned his clone friends against themselves, and he would also have recognized that Padme would infinitely prefer to risk a natural death rather than be resurrected by some dark side magic fueled by dead children.
I choose to imagine an alternate story where Padme had a real life-threatening condition that couldn't be treated by conventional means, and where he didn't act so dammed self righteous on Mustafar. Still doesn't excuse his actions though.
Sayer Glasgow Yeah I agree that the prequels did mishandle his fall. Fans have to kinda cobble together Anakin’s fall as interpreted by the movies and supplementary media-The Clone Wars which I like but it’s issues with continuity and characterization is often downplayed. So adding all that together gets you a self-contradictory man who still pulls at people heartstrings cause they like the thought of his character than the actual character himself.
I will say though that out of everyone Padmé is the one lacking characterization. Her portrayal is so contradictory throughout the trilogy it’s hard to get a pin on her character without it turning into a generic “girl-power” cliche.

She swings wildly from a strong, independent character who cares for Anakin but is also a hero in her own right with her own life, to a swooning caricature who does nothing but cry about Anakin and has no personality other than how much she loves Anakin. One minute she's a starry eyed damsel utterly blind in her devotion to Anakin, the next she's a capable leader who should have known better than to enter into a relationship with more red flags than the soviet union in the first place.
Let's also not forget that she straight up told him that it was okay that he killed an entire village.

The true beauty of Emperor Palpatine's theme is that it doesn't need some epic moment where the music kicks into high gear or something. It is slow, somber, but most importantly, it is ominous and mysterious. A fitting theme for a brilliant madman
And fits perfectly with his scene in RoJ. Remember, there he was just an old man sitted on a chair, but you still could feel much more in it, an ominous and terrifying dark aura. We can see Luke, as our point of view, feeling the same, he was cautious and silent, because he felt the same aura. To us, the viewers, much of that implicit aura was in this song.
It would be so cool if palpatine had a mongol theme. imagine the throat singing during the vocal orchestra...imagine.

Ironically palps is the one sith lord that broke so many rules that made his predecessors roll in their graves lol. Usually it's like there is master, there is student, student eventually beat master and become the master. But in palp's case he had at least 3 students in Maul, Dooku and Vader and also Snoke if you consider the sequel trilogy. Palps didn't really care, he only believed in unlimited power!

This is from all the medieval type music you made my favourite! It is so powerful, and evily, and cool. And I like how Palpatine changes his form in the video.
Perfectly captures the feel of the Emperor's presence, he might not have much in the way of goals beyond power, but he makes up for that with sheer menace.
Lucas said that Vader was able to kill Palpatine so easily because Palpatine had become an epitome of darkness. He was so consumed by the dark side that all he could feel was anger, hate, fear, etc., and he had mastered these emotions. Lucas said if Vader had attempted to kill Palpatine out of anger, greed or lust for power, Palpatine would have known it instantly. However Vader's actions weren't motivated by any of those; it was motivated by love for his son, and love was an emotion Palpatine had no understanding of. Therefore, because he acted out of love, he was able to take Palpatine by surprise and kill him before he knew what was going on.

This new and planty image of Palpatine looks pretty amazing. I love his noble robes and how they turn from precious and wealthy to dark and creepy. It`s a pitty we have never got to see him in those robes!

I'm literally having goosebumps. That's one thing about Palpatine's theme, there's something ancient and evil underneath it. Like there's no glory or happiness in it, only a sickening, evil triumphing over good. William did an amazing job with this.
