I'd say that rather than "redefined" it, it refined it. It merely looked at what we already knew about from another angle, and with a more powerful lens. “Freedom, Independence, Justice” being juxtaposed with “surveillance and prosecution, without limit” just hits so hard especially when you look at the state of the US
Andor had the balls to show the side of war that wasnt dressed up in heroism. the real nasty parts. It was always interesting that the first thing Andor does as a character on screen is to waste an informant to keep the rebellion safe.
@NeverBetter1 Star wars was always too simple and black and white. At the time of its release, it made sense. These days people expect, and rightfully so in my opinion, a more grey portrayal of things, which is much more realistic. And i think it suits Star wars very well. Like they say, it either grows or it dies.
@Radiant.Radium I think its okay to call Andor a significant departure from the original trilogies and there is nothing bad about venturing into something else. We are all growing older and recycling the same old simplistic heroic arc don't quite hit the same at my age. If i wanted light heart adventure, I can always go back to the original trilogies. But what Andor did was increased the depth and gravitas for this universe. As an older audience, the commentary on the seduction of authoritarianism order, the horrific repression arising from banal bureaucrats and the burning ember of rebellion that can fan into flame at any moment has a lot more resonance.
1:10 hits differently with Mon Mothma and Director Krenic. The Empire was full of ambitious evil individuals, Krenic being one of them. But it was also full of people who saw and felt the tragedy of the Clone Wars and vowed to make sure something like it never happened again. “You have to start somewhere”
That's the crux of the whole thing, isn't it? The Empire holds the monopoly on violence, like any powerful government does. What sets them apart, what makes them so dangerous, is the fact that they will _use_ that violence wantonly just to make a point, or even just to keep themselves amused. Even the ability to destroy an entire planet and billions of people in an instant is used _just because they can._ The Empire fully subscribes to the philosophy that weapons are made to be used. Merely being ready for war isn't enough for them, they _demand_ war to justify their own existence. And when you rule the entire galaxy, the only people you can make war with... are your own. But at the same time, they are fucking _terrified_ of fighting a real war, one that pits them against a force that won't simply be swept away with a single act. They crave violence, but they cannot handle being hit back. They can destroy an entire species just to cover up some obscure piece of information, but a mere act of robbery that would barely even be registered in the treasury causes the entire Empire to piss itself and reflexively grip its metaphorical sword, jumping at shadows and wondering feverishly where the next attack will come from. The Rebellion was a relatively small scale conflict, certainly nothing compared to the heights of the Clone Wars, but it won out because it was like a knife in the dark, darting under the Empire's clumsy claymore and sticking it right in the lungs. That was what the Empire was so afraid of. It was geared to fight a war with the entire galaxy, but it _was_ the entire galaxy itself. How can something fight itself and win?
This was amazing! I think it's telling how little we saw Jedi/Sith and how much Andor was used for this edit. The story of the empire isn't about space wizards, it's about normal people and oppression, which is what Andor did so well. This is why I think that Andor is some of the best star wars content as well as some of the most important content for flushing out the universe.
Andor was Brave New World and 1984 for Star Wars. But also an important message for us today. Especially since a lot in our governments act too similarly.
Can we just take a moment and recognize how much the themes of tyranny, power, oppression, freedom, human desperation, and the will to fight resonate in all of us? This was very well done, and very powerful.
Honestly, this is so expertly curated and superbly edited that I watch it and find myself thinking, "This makes Star Wars, as a whole, look better than it actually is"! Hats off - I salute you! (And thank you, Tony Gilroy, for your serious take on Star Wars.)
*"Fan the flame that freedom ignites."* *"To be free, you must have the courage to fight for it."* *"There is a beautiful freedom found in standing up for what is right."* *"To have freedom, someone must always pay the price."* *"When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he has no choice but to become an outlaw." - Nelson Mandela* *"Better to die fighting for freedom than be a prisoner all the days of your life." - Bob Marley* *"Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves." - Abraham Lincoln*
My favorite edit of yours perfectly encapsulates the Empire and what was going on at that time. Plus, I'm an imperial fan, so yeah, granted, I think Star Wars can teach people about the dangers of our own world, and I've got to thank Andor for that, and then you for summing it up in a comprehensive way for people to understand. And yes there is a reason why I'm posting this on the US election day. Edit: I mean day after.
"the empire has been choking us so slowly we're starting not to notice" looking at the world and asking questions. you will start to see patterns of that
The best part about Andor is that, most of us watch Star Wars from the heroes/villians POV, imagining ourselves in their shoes... while quietly knowing we'd all probably just be regular Joes and Mary-Sues without force powers or armies behind us. Dealing with the pain of living under oppressive rule & seeing what 'normal' people like Cas and Nemik could do gives far more meaning to why a rebellion started & gave us all something to relate to
I've been holding back on watching ANDOR because I don't want to get my hopes up again in future Star Wars developments. But, after watching this tribute, I'm going to watch it. Good job making another fantastic tribute. I love watching and listening to each one you make.

Its about bringing order to the galaxy and peace. people say the empire said peace so often but does violence so much. People have to understand that if you truly want peace, you have to prepare for war. because there are people out there who dont care about youre opinion and about peace so they dont give up theire rule of power so that the violence continues. Do you understand it all now? Its about keeping order to keep peace. The Empire needs no war and violence if there are no people out there who like war. Oh, and btw, Long live the Empire!
Well your by far the best Star Wars editor out there, you made all these movies, shows, and eras feel so intertwined. Great job and keep up the good work
The Andor show has reminded everyone that empire isn’t a space wizard with lightings hand controlling the galaxy with his planet shooter. Reminding that empire is fear creators, that stormtroopers can aim and are elite trooper. That there’s who care about their career, about their works. Show how no-mercy and brutal the empire is, they don’t care about planet culture, they don’t care about civil morality, they care about if the planet is under control or not.
Andor turned out to be so bloody good. When I first saw it announced I had zero excitement for it. It totally blew me out of the water. The best depicture of the empire; pure dread.
This might have been your best work yet. You very clearly laid out best of Star War and told the story of the galaxy without having to mention the Skywalker family. VERY impressive
i love what andor did so much. We always had that yoda quote "do or do not, there is no try." But now we have something better, more powerful, more hopeful: "Try. Just try." Because that's all one can do in the face of oppression and fascism. The rebels are not the jedi order. The rebels are people who fight for their basic rights, for their personal freedom, for the ability to live. They have no guarantee of victory. Onky hope. But rebellions are built on hope. And if you keep hoping and trying, eventually there can be victory. "Know this, the day will come when all these skirmishes and battles, these moments of defiance will have flooded the banks of the Empire's authority and then there will be one too many. One single thing will break the siege. Remember this. Try."
Its fucking awesome how Andor went from something I wasnt excited for at all to being my favourite Star wars thing since original trilogy. Really gave me hope for the Star wars franchise.

It's so unappreciated just how hard an editor works - from locating the assets to trimming the clips and plotting them in a sequence that best represents the projects goal AND lands the emotional beats, to sourcing the audio and mixing it in a compelling and provocative way, syncing it with the visuals ... ... the sheer mind-numbing hours and endless cycles of rewatching over-and-over again to ensure your vision is accurately represented ... Andor is superb writing plain and simple. Tony Gilroy is one of the best at writing flawed and compelling characters and still manages to keep the fun, excitement and spirit of Star Wars.
The beginning sequence is so brilliantly stitched together, with characters from different times all speaking to each other representing the problems that have always been to blame, and nice touch with “This World” by Ramin Djawadi, the song really ties it together

Andor had the balls to show the side of war that wasnt dressed up in heroism. the real nasty parts. It was always interesting that the first thing Andor does as a character on screen is to waste an informant to keep the rebellion safe.
“The only question we need to answer is how tight to close our fist.” fucking chills.
That is the question of every fascist group there ever was. ☠💀
the way people would argue that andor doesn't feel like star wars yet videos like this remark how much andor IS star wars i love that show
@NeverBetter1 Star wars was always too simple and black and white.
2:08 THIS section makes the empire feel like an actual threat. This is what we need.
"You have to start somewhere."
That's a very dangerous quote.
WE MAKIN' IT OUT OF THE BACTA TANK WITH THIS ONE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
3:46 The line “use it” sent chills down my spine. The parallels between these scenes is amazing. This edit is perfect…just perfect
That "the clones" edit was fckn awesome im not expecting anything less from this one
This was very well done, and very powerful.
you have no idea how happy i was to hear "the power that we are dealing with here is immeasurable" still upset we were robbed of that line in the film
Honestly, this is so expertly curated and superbly edited that I watch it and find myself thinking, "This makes Star Wars, as a whole, look better than it actually is"! Hats off - I salute you! (And thank you, Tony Gilroy, for your serious take on Star Wars.)

Okay👍
"the empire has been choking us so slowly we're starting not to notice"
looking at the world and asking questions. you will start to see patterns of that
The best part about Andor is that, most of us watch Star Wars from the heroes/villians POV, imagining ourselves in their shoes... while quietly knowing we'd all probably just be regular Joes and Mary-Sues without force powers or armies behind us.
You better do! ... Andor is fantastic - I've watched the entire series twice through (and I've never done that for any other TV show ever)
It's the best live action show Disney has produced.
Andor IS star wars. Fk mandalorian, boba fett, obi wan.
Easily the best written SW realted production EVER. Not only Disney, I mean the whole thing. And to be honest is right up there with one of the best written sci fi shows of all time.
@@MasterSteve_117Fk you, mandalorian seasons 1-2 were great
the little detail where it says how tight we close our fist and Vader using his fist was a really cool detail I just noticed
I love how so much of the Video about how terrifying the Empire is from Andor, the show that the people who watch it Love it, but has extremely low popularity between the casual fans. Andor was the best depiction of the Empire as well.
Andor, Andor, and again, Andor! The most powerful chapter in the story.
My god, this is...
this is Immaculate
The one moment in Star Wars above all others that gives me goose bumps is in andor when they are finally rioting in the prison and screaming one way out. It still gives me chills.
3:47 This part is phenomenal. Sick edit man!

I find it funny how more and more poignant Hobbes becomes as time wears on.
Funny, sad, and frightening.@@jaykilbourne1110
A strong, competent empire makes star wars so much more awesome to watch
A video that is 7:56 minutes long told a fantastic story Star Wars story summarizing the what the Empire is, and I was engrossed from start to finish. My friend, you have some definite talent and I hope you make your mark. Well done!
Something that becomes incredibly apparent through this piece is that Andor is the truest thing to the Original Trilogy since the OT itself.
Andor as a show got me to love content in the Star Wars universe again but THIS video is what made me love Star Wars the franchise again. This is phenomenal beyond words, completely masterful
The amount of Andor shots and voices is revealing, just the best show disney put out there !
Absolutely stunning, capturing the epic proportions of this story is difficult, but you've done it masterfully.
Well your by far the best Star Wars editor out there, you made all these movies, shows, and eras feel so intertwined. Great job and keep up the good work
That's really high praise, thank you🙏🏼
The Andor show has reminded everyone that empire isn’t a space wizard with lightings hand controlling the galaxy with his planet shooter.
Reminding that empire is fear creators, that stormtroopers can aim and are elite trooper. That there’s who care about their career, about their works.
Show how no-mercy and brutal the empire is, they don’t care about planet culture, they don’t care about civil morality, they care about if the planet is under control or not.
Karabast, this brought a tear to my eye... Amazing work
Andor turned out to be so bloody good. When I first saw it announced I had zero excitement for it. It totally blew me out of the water. The best depicture of the empire; pure dread.
The Empires power and story is so significant to the story, it’s amazing
This edit. its amazing! A masterpiece!
Just finished watching Andor , this video perfectly encapsulates the might and ruthlessness of the Empire
Wow this edit was better than the entire sequel trilogy. Rogue one and Andor were exceptional however. Thank you for your efforts, I found this after looking up the Dooku cut for a friend. Brilliant work, may the force be with you. Always.
Brooke, I must truly say how wonderful it is to see such an emotionally powerful edit.
You've accomplished something brilliant and your hard work has paid off. I'll be watching this video for the rest of my life. THANKYOU!
4:06 Bro, the last few seconds of this segment of the video, with the chanting and show of Imperial Military might was just... powerful
"Long Live the Empire"
FIGHT THE EMPIRE!!!
Holly craaaaap this is just incredible
Andor is superb writing plain and simple. Tony Gilroy is one of the best at writing flawed and compelling characters and still manages to keep the fun, excitement and spirit of Star Wars.
This is amazing. Showing Bix being tortured in between showing imperial might & having long live the Empire really is a great touch
I love this division into 3 parts, it's brilliant!
sounds like Star Wars: Andor! :)
[the best Star Wars ever! - as evidenced by both of his excellent videos]
This is so good. The editing, pacing, everything. 4:12 in particular is so good
Okay, with no exaggeration, with 100% honesty, I believe that these 8 minutes of content are better than the entire sequel trilogy.
I cant stop watching this. Every few months I rewatch this video, and it's so moving.
The cuts with the hammer strikes gave me chills. 10/10 Powerful stuff brother!
The beginning sequence is so brilliantly stitched together, with characters from different times all speaking to each other representing the problems that have always been to blame, and nice touch with “This World” by Ramin Djawadi, the song really ties it together
This is very one of the best Star Wars edits I’ve ever seen.
The music, dialouge, scene choices, descriptions all contribute to this yet again, amazing masterpiece. It’s really good; I have no words.
You did a very good job, mate. Keep it up.
Bloody hell. Amazing edit.
This is so emotional I actually almost cried. Easily the best edit on TH-cam.
I keep coming back to watch it because it gives me chills everytime
The best empire tribute i have seen!!! very well done my friend
Thanks. Now I have watch every stars movie and TV over again.
this is FREAKING AMAZING. This is why I love Star Wars.
Amazing edit, bro ! It’s like watching the next episode of Andor. When you think you found your favorite episode, but then the next one is even better🔥
I feel that about your channel,
There’s always a bigger fish to come!
Appreciate it brother!
Well said!
I dont see how more people dont see how a mirror is being shown to us of our own reality, and yet people still wont engage with the ideas calling them boring.
This is magnificent!!! Especially that chant 04:12 with the siren blaring, Long Live The Empire🥲🤯🤩
I like how everyone couldn't care less about Andor...until they watch it and it becomes one of the best Star Wars story. Edits like this take you for a ride. love it.
This is like the video u show to people that are new to Star Wars to get them interested
