It is very rare that there isn't a single failure of plumbing but far more rare for there to be a second one so sleep easy. I can't believe you had the presence of mind and thoughtfulness of spirit to film how you coped with it. Thank you for sharing it!
@@benjaqsonworkshop9974 fingers crossed that is the case for our installation 😀 Regarding filming … one of the reasons we make our videos is to share the reality behind renovation and this type of life. So when these kind of things happen we think it’s super important to share it. Because this is real life and it’s not all unicorns and rainbows like some people might make you think (similarly it’s not all crazy drama either)
I've had my share of challenging moments rehabbing properties, having someone to share the disappointment with and also the solution was a huge solace. I'm so glad you have each other....and a tip of the hat to you, that bathroom is beautiful.
A failure of a crimped connector is extremely common, even when pros do them. We had these exact hot water tubes leak at the joint in the HP heating system. The heat will soften the plastic collar, especially by alternating hot and cold flow, expansion and contraction. Most of the time the water is cold. After repairing 4 crimp joints soon after first use, out of over 100, there hasn't been any leaks. So that's good news in a way. Early failure is better.
Again, interesting to hear - and encouraging for long-term confidence, if less-so in the short term. It makes me think of those displays in IKEA where they show something being pummelled to death to show longevity. Does this happen across the board?! Perhaps the take from this for us amateurs is if possible, use the system for a couple of months before finishing tiling etc?
Oh no…been in this spot many times myself. I hate plumbing! But…even plumbers have failures, so rather fix it myself, much less expensive. You all handled this like pros! So proud of you. Don’t ever be hard on yourselves. You’re my hero’s!❤
There's no shame in making the odd mistake when you are learning. I often think you learn more from a mistake than when everything goes smoothly. Now you are going to be freakishly careful whenever you are crimping a joint and I don't expect it will ever happen again. Lesson learned, onwards and upwards!
Oh no... that's so frustrating. You certainly have a very calm way of dealing with it... but that might be because you are talking to us after the explosion of distress!
Hi you two… I know this is frustrating as we encountered a similar problem but ours were luckily in the cellar and the plumber was on hand. He said that if the joints aren’t pushed in firmly and the monstrous electric machine crimps, it will fail. He said if you do it yourself later, use the one time use ones that you don‘t crimp but use self crimping one time use ones. We had one leak also when we installed but only drips. The pipe wasn’t pushed completely in. After we have had no issues. I think you are correct that the one joint wasn’t crimped properly. You could make the one tile with strong magnets so you can access it and use silicon so it‘s easier to remove later. When you turn the water on, it does jolt the water pipes, maybe make the clips further back on the pipe so it can move. The Profis make mistakes too. Better now than later. You two are doing an amazing job.. merry Christmas 🎄🎁 and all the best 😊
So good you have the skills and knowledge to fix things - don't knock this investment in your own learning for the future. Getting the problem fixed so quickly was great - and though the initial reaction may have been frustration (and despair) you fixed it and life goes on. Well done. Enjoy the showers! Beautiful bathroom.
I am so sorry this happened as you are so diligent in doing your best to make everything perfect. I think I enjoyed your shower as much as you did. Luckily the panels came off without breakage and you repaired the fittings. Good luck with this.
Oh no! What a terrible shock. You both handled it wonderfully, however. Sending a virtual hug to each of you and I'm so glad you came through it all to live another day and with time to recover (mostly) before Christmas. I hope you both have a wonderful, happy holiday. Thank goodness hot showers and baths are still part of the celebrations! Take care and I hope this week is peaceful and delightful.
Christine here, sorry about the plumbing problem but you both have come so far with all your projects, learning as you go, be immensely proud in your achievements. Hope you both have a wonderful Christmas and an amazing hassle free New Year! Hugs xx
Oh, I can feel your disappointment and frustration. But, as always, you've troubleshooted like champs, solved the problem, and came up with a solution. Make, Do (re-do), Grow! Hugs from 🇨🇦

Thanks for the vids, there was a time when I thought I wouldn't get to see this project finished, (I'm old) but you're both moving along in leaps and bounds. Have a wonderful Christmas filled with love happiness and joy. See you soon.
Your last point and lesson are so good! It is much better to have the skills to handle a situation yourself rather than relying on someone else and this is true whenever you can. My father taught me how to maintain and do minor repairs on my car. When I had to go in for a major repair, I could speak with knowledge and the mechanics would listen and be honest. When you are unaware of the parameters of a situation, it makes it easier for others to take advantage. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and arming us with ability to keep ourselves safer. Saludos desde Asturias.
NOT a plumber myself, but the only plumbing related problems I've ever had (few thankfully) were all fitted by professionals originally. You have adopted the most professional approach to all the services, but sometimes shit happens. Chin up, Make, Do, Redo (on this occasion), Grow. Cheers.
This, my friends is part of renovating, especially when you are buying supplies in another country. Don't be disheartened, it's part & parcel of the building process.
Oh yuk. After all your hard work..If ever a couple deserves to have a lovely home it's both of you.Hope you can have a relaxing Christmas .Happy Christmas 🙏😀🎆
Bad luck guys. All part of the fun of renovations. It happens so easily especially if you are getting tired at the end of the day. Keep pushing forward, you're doing great
I really feel for you , terrible news, thank you for sharing what must feel very raw, but well done for getting on with it and great that you didn't break the tile.
I know it's so frustrating for you both, but you'll look back at this in years and say remember when we had that bathroom problem. You might laugh or you may groan, but you'll get it done. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
As with all of life's trial and errors it's how you handle it. Your grace and sensibilities have seen you through again and I applaud you. I hope the plumbing issues are finished and you can just enjoy your hard work. Well done my friends.
Oh nooo! I'm so sorry this happened to you, but also so impressed with how quickly you managed to find the issue and get it fixed! You're unstoppable. On the positive side, I suppose it's a good thing this happened before you installed your sink and toilet and bidet and so on. Imagine having to remove all those things first! I guess the best thing to do is try to use it for a couple of weeks and if anything happens, you know there's a bigger issue and if nothing happens, you're good to close it all up again and move on. I'm really looking forward to your work on the windows. Happy holidays to you!
Mistakes are the best way for you to learn. You will now check all your plumbing crimping and from this time on you will not make that mistake again. What I liked about this video, we didn't hear any blame game going on and I am impressed and pleased. Continue to work together, doing, checking, doing checking etc etc. Good luck to you both and look forward to your next video.

At least you don't have to remove a whole wall of tiling, nor the flooring. Access may be a pain in the butt, but at least not everything must be removed. Good ears Kylie! You caught it long before it was ruinous.
i think having a removable panel made from the tile is a great idea. Would you need to have special water proof fittings to go in the screwholes, if there is such a thing? Well done for sorting it out and for leaving it open meantime. When you go away and do something else for a while you will be bound to come up with an idea or improvement. Please don't worry that there are these crimped misaligns all around the bathroom. It looked to have had a little tension on the T when you opened it up and wasn't quite level but the new section may be just the teensiest bit longer and so less tension. Musings from a complete amateur plumber but seasoned home renovator. Well done
I had a flexi pipe under a bathroom basin give way a few years back. I was told that the warranty is only for about seven years. Make sure that you check the expected lifetime of whatever you do. Old plumbing was copper pipes for a reason.
For a moment I did consider pulling everything out and redoing in copper (we used copper in all our London refurbs), but it’s not really a thing here so getting parts would be quite difficult. Multilayer has a longer lifetime than 7 years, the pipe at least. Not so sure on the fittings though
You did great! Amateur plumbing is inevitably super stressful but you learn fast! You did the research, decided to use crimp, have faith in your decisions!

But by having back access or panels doors, that's a must 👏👏So well done to you two for assessing the situation, finding the problem and fixing it 🎊🎉👌👍👏👏👏 Now, you can enjoy Xmas, hot showers and bath and plenty of great wines and home brew 😂😂
Joyeux Noël from France
