How do you pronounce EU? So many words with that vowel. We have very few English words with EU and we actually say the u. But in Thai, you don't hear the u?
Today I finally got all of them!! Thank you kru New ☺️

sân short for length

sâo sad, depressed
sĭia jai sad, upset, sorry

At 3:39 you have the word สว่าง which has a low tone for both syllables. I'm wondering about the last syllable of that word. Normally, if there is a "mai eek" (low tone marker) with a syllable that starts with a low class consonant, that would result in a falling tone. But you are correct in marking the second syllable as a low tone. What is the explanation? I'm trying to understand why the 2nd syllable of สว่าง is low tone. Is due to the influence of the high class consonant ส that is before it not having a written vowel? (I notice that ว่างเปล่า has a falling tone for the first syllable ว่าง as one would expect it to have. So I guess with สว่าง the low tone for ว่าง is due to ส influencing it... but is there a rule for this?)
I found another example, which I think is the same type of thing. ฉลาด 13:47 has a high class consonant ฉ followed by a dead syllable that starts with low class consonant. Normally ลาด would have a falling tone, but I think it is due to the influence of the high class consonant ฉ that ลาด in ฉลาด has a low tone.
They are exceptions. Mostly high class follow low class consonants eg. สว่าง ส ว
ฉลาด ฉ ล
You will read as it high class consonants
สว่าง สะ หว่าง
ฉลาด ฉะ หลาด
😊
@@thailessonsbynew Thank you for explaining. I don't really understand yet, but I'll keep observing.
Yeah, there were a couple I didn't know for sure :p As I mentioned in one of your other "most common" words, some of the words you mentioned here you haven't mentioned in any other videos :p So I think as something to perhaps improve is to include the ones that are a bit left behind in your newest videos :) thanks!
Thank you for your suggestion 😊
low score for me. High score for you! Pai/ bpai tones still get me confused. "Lek" is/can be "tiny" and/or "small"? Is "cold" (naao) ever "yen?" ... only "cool" is yen?
You are all correct. As I noted at the end, one English word can be referred to more than one Thai words.
great job!! I don't want to be rude ..I think it's better not to have a baby voice(?) if possible. it's kind of annoying to sombody like a sensitive person. like me ;) agian great job!!
Thank you for your suggestion 😊
78% ..... I can listen, but my Thai reading and writing are very weak !!! This is just the opposite case for my learning of Japanese (I can write and read Japanese better than listen). Kun kruu New, even though I have learned Thai for 1 year (prop waa faen kon pom bpen kon Thai krab), I still cannot confidently WRITE or READ Thai....... I am very depressed !! (maa ja Hong Kong)
Don't be sad. At least you can listen very well then you can communicate in daily life and understand your partner 😊. On another hand, I don't know Japanese at all!!😔
I would love to see a video with these in a sentence!
Thank you for your suggestion 😊
60% for me..
Thanks for this one..
Soon I will get 100%
What about the word sweating.. it's hot out and I am sweaty..
14:17 This is another question. อร่อย has a low tone for the ร่อย instead of falling tone. I'm guessing that it is due to the influence of อ in the first syllable. But I don't understand the rule being applied. Normally if there is a "low tone marker" and the syllable begins with a low class consonant, then the tone is falling tone. But in this case, both syllables are low tone.
In this case pronounce ร as high/middle class
อร่อย อะ หร่อย
@@thailessonsbynew Thanks again. I think another one that is similar is ตลาด - by your explanation, it is read as if it were ตะ หลาด. So both syllables are read with low tone (even though one would expect ลาด to be a falling tone).
Correct 😊
