I bought a Fenix 6 Pro question, have you ever tried the marine maps ?? the garmin web site says that the VEU722L-Europe Atlantic Coast and VEU723L-Southern Europe work on the Fenix 6 Pro. but they are both g3 Vision and are around £350 and cover a large area, looks like you can get BlueChart g3 and g3 Vision, the g3 is cheeper (less stuff on the maps, but I can't see half the Vision stuff working on the watch anyway) also you can get 'smaller' area BlueChart g3 and g3 Vision maps for a lot less. Anyone know any thing about the marine maps, there must be loads of people that sail inland lakes and rivers, that have bought the Fenix 6 as a cheap chartplotter alternative

Lots of great advice here. I'm new to the Garmin and just bought my Fenix so the tips are very welcome! Didn't even know there was a middle menu button. Unfortunately, my only criticism is that for a complete newbie like myself you've not explained satisfactorily where the settings are, I've had to spend a few minutes to figure it out which isn't impossible but that assistance would have been welcome for somebody not familiar with Garmin watches. Other than that, this video is super helpful, thank you!

Great tips about the Data views and getting alternative maps. I'm just getting started with my new Fenix 6S and am a bit overwhelmed. (PS - you have wonderful eyes! :) )

I really like this device but wouldn't it be nice if you were able to go through all these settings via PC or Mac using the Garmin connect app then syncing the watch to the app. It seems a bit labor intensive using the device only to set up initially.
I had the emergency feature activated. One day I rode over a big pump and leaned down to check my chain hadn't come off. The watch thought I had fallen off and started to phone my contact. It does give you a chance to cancel it before it dials. Which I did. I was impressed it had worked.
Great video! One thing I would add, and you kind of mentioned it during the bit about customizing the first activity screen, is that the home screen is customizable! I'm sure most Garmin users know this, but it is a great feature!

It is an overall great guide video, however, I really wanted to know how the notifications work, what apps work with it, how you choose apps , and if it works with outlook. Although you showed how to turn them off because you don't like them, I really need this feature for my Job.
Good guide. As a new owner I would argue turning off software updates. Let those who like to live in the bleeding edge be your guinea pig. I'll keep my watch safe until I know for sure it's good. Reddit's your friend.

My rest heart rate has been 30 for 8-9 months now, every morning i have to go in and set the rest heart rate to use average. The useless software team at Garmin is aware of this, but seems unfortunately unable to correct the problem.
Nice summary guide John. Garmin battery estimates are a bit deceptive. For the Va4 it gives this: Battery life: up to 8 days in smartwatch mode; up to 6 hours in GPS and music mode. You are not going to get 8 days if you also use 6 hours GPS/music and have other things enabled (notifications, etc...). But, the way they phrase it, I read that as you can have both as they put it in the same sentence.
Just bought(6X Sapphire) this to get better and more convenient map data with less weight in my loadout-kit for bow hunting trips(I also now get to skimp on a PLB). Soo far.... Fuck this things amazing. 60+ hours of GLONAS/GPS(And Sunset warning!)... (I didn't get the solar version because my hunting trips never last more than 3 days and I pack a solar charger/battery bank anyway) Legit, saved money and now have this amazingly functional daily tool. I have been converted. Think I might just stick with the Garmin brand for life as my new goto watch maker.

Thanks for the review. Is the Fenix 6 capable of doing off-trail navigation from one waypoint to another? I am referring to the Garmin's Foretrex 601's ability to use "Turns." That is the GPS will tell you to turn either left or right by so many degrees to be on course and show you a compass face at the same time.

I don't know if anybody said it here, bu I think that if you struggle with a fact that you're getting millions of notifications, you can choose which apps you get notifications from, one by one in garmin connect (settings -> notifications -> app notifications)
Of course it uses more energy the more the screen changes because it's a type of screen called electronic-ink display which only uses energy when something changes, it doesn't use energy when the image is static.

WiFi is actually used to sync the music. I’m not aware of a way to do that without WiFi. Pretty solid review man! I enjoy your content.
