  • Marketing physical therapy and occupational therapy service to physicians is still the most effective strategy for most private practice owners. While it is true not every physician will be allowed to refer patients to outside providers there will always be some that do. You don't need every referral from every physician to be successful. Find the 3 out of 100 physicians who want to send patients to you and focus your time on building deep, long lasting relationships with the physicians.

Great advice! A few things to add based on my recent experiences from jumping into this. 1. The unwritten rule to getting a sit down meeting with a prescribing provider is that you need to buy the entire office lunch (kind of ridiculous but true IME). 2. Custom script pads are extremely important. This is the 1 thing every prescriber asks me for. They won’t go the extra steps to look up your info when prescribing but if they have a script pad handy they’ll send you patients. 3. Sometimes the physician isn’t the best person to talk to. In a lot of situations it’s the medical assistant or other staff member who makes the decision on where to send the script to so it can be beneficial to make time for these people too when at the office. Thanks for the video. Got some new tricks I’m going to try out from it

Great remarks. 100% agree. Therapists think referral pads are outdated, but even though every physician uses an EMR, having a paper referral pad to grab and tear off a page is super easy.

Thank you so much for your service! I am currently in the same process of getting referrals. What do you suggest about keeping a share basis on each patient referral? Does that work?
