Your time is your life energy, and once it's gone you cannot get it back. so if anything, your time should be the most costly."
    Anyone who is expecting professional advice and counselling should expect to pay for it.

    Hi Austin,
    Question: I had to removed an engine oil spill from a concrete driveway that was sitting for 3 days. I used F9 double eagle degreaser but with cold water. I got a whole bunch of the oil to come off but it still has a ligh mark where the oil spilled. Would the gold assassin and hot water take off more from the concrete? Or is that going to be expected due to the nature of concrete absorbing the oil?
    The client was very happy I got a lot of the oil off. I just wanted to know if i could have done more.
    Thanks

    • @TaylorTheCre8or
      @TaylorTheCre8or 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn’t use BARC (Battery Acid Restoration Cleaner). It’s meant for battery acid and rust staining on concrete. Use a degreaser like gold assassin and hot water. Concrete is porous so you’ll never be able to get it all up without removing material.
      It’s great that your customer is happy and that’s all that matters, but to answer your question, yes there’s a lot more you could have done. 1 Being correct chemical 2 being hot water. Again, if your customer is happy, you did fine. You’ll grow and learn. I would keep a cheat sheet in your truck that tells you what chemicals to use for what types of staining.

    • @michaelc7283
      @michaelc7283 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TaylorTheCre8or
      Hi Samuel,
      My mistake, I used the F9 double eagle degreaser to remove the oil. Not the F9 barc. Again, the only noticeable sign was a light shadow mark were the oil spilled. Yes concrete is porous so it will happen. I explained it to the customer and set the expectation. Again, she was happy that the heavy brown oil was gone. I have to try out that golden assassin and rent a hot water unit for oil spills.
      Well, this is how I cleaned it without a hot water unit. I filled up two 5 gallon bucket with very hot water from the clients house. I poured one hot bucket onto the oil spill with the F9 degreaser. I scrubbed and waited for 15 minutes. Turbo nozzle the first coat off. I apllied a second coat of hot water, f9 and scrubbed. Waited for another 15 minutes. Then I used my cold water surface cleaner to remove the second application. It looked great. I just wanted to make sure I did enough to get it off.
      Thanks for your input. Always learning something new in this business. A lot of great help from the TH-cam channel.
      Thank you 😊

    • @TaylorTheCre8or
      @TaylorTheCre8or 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@michaelc7283 ahhh see that changes some things. As far as I’m concerned the only thing you could have done would be just a different degreaser (I would try a few til you find one you like) and having an actual hot water unit.
      They do make sweeping compound which can help get up fresh oil but that probably wouldn’t have done much in THIS case (but can work, ZEP makes a decently cheap bag). You could also learn about the chemistry behind oil cleanups (if you haven’t already) and the cleanup techniques in OTHER industries (think industrial, janitorial etc). You can soak up oil, you can blow/rinse off oil (especially with degreaser), you can make the droplets smaller, you can remove host material, hell they even make microbes that eat oil.
      Sounds like you’re definitely on the right track, and given your setup it sounds like you did an amazing job for your client! (EDIT: you also will have a lot of situations where you won’t be able to get everything up!)
      I’m still new to this business as well, but I’m coming from a successful janitorial business and adding this on as a second company to fill up our days. I built a dual 11gpm trailer and have a couple employees working for me off the bat so I have time to figure stuff like this out. Keep doing what you’re doing brother and wash on!

    They’re both labeled diesel because they’re both diesel lol sounds like the rental company didn’t do any kind of walk around and that kabota diesel will out last any Honda and that’s a modern small diesel

    The customer is going to be very happy when their bill is deeply discounted to allow them to share in the savings created by your mistakes. ……You are planning to take care of your customer, right? It would be great to be able to bill them less regardless of the reason, but you admitted multiple times that the pro they called and trusted screwed up. They aren’t entitled to any savings, but now is when we find out whether you’re going to be a long term, successful business owner or not. If you billed them the full amount, enjoy your success now, because it’s not going to last.

      @@AustinDavis24 Okay. It’s your business and you can run it however you want. I’d never do cleaning business with you, but I love your videos and I’ve learned a lot from them (I’m not in the pressure washing business, but I’m in the trucking business and I wash trucks on the side). Thank you for the content. I look forward to watching more.

    Honda is good but can't compare to that set up. Just because it doesn't look fancy doesn't mean its cheap or not as good... actually its way better and will last a long long time. Both of those tanks are diesel because its a diesel engine and only a diesel engine.

    I get getting paid for your time and advise...but dude...$75 for 20 minutes? That's insane. Maybe $30 but not 75. At 30 you'd still be making 90 bucks an hour to talk on the phone.

      I came up with that number by actually doing the math on what my actual income is on an hourly basis when you divide it up monthly and yearly. And I came up with that number at the time. And actually it should be more. I’m giving you guys the hook up.
