Yeah there's something about these pitch reports, just so much more interesting. Probably because there was more to a pitch back then, not all 'manufactured roads' for the batters.

The 90s - Those were the days of heartbreaks for Indian fans. A victory on away was so rare that it was front page news. India were usually seen as a mediocre team then - lacking game plan, strategy and huge dependence on their stars to fire. They never carried a positive vibe, despite having super stars like Tendulkar, Kapil Dev. From those days of being tentative to now, where they are a formidable side is a sea change !

    • @LivingLegend0005

You have Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid,VS Laxman and Virat Kohli to thank for the current formidable form of the Indian team. The first four in that list laid the foundation from 1996 onwards and the fifth one really built on it and took it to the next level with his tremendous skill and aggression

I was a kid at that time and never watched this before. Thank u pixel tees for giving this videos available to us. According to my opinion dada I think indian batting line up is too strong but they play always in fear for that they start like 100 for 1 in 28 overs whereas New zeeland did 100 in 20 over. Azar blammed in last conversation about last 10 over we should get more runs instead he should think he should not play 99 balls for 55 runs and due to this only india could not reach 270. Someone did commented that azar played many good innings but i did not get this innings as heroistic but full villion type innings he played. Rather if kapil dev and S banerjee batted in no 3 and 4 then they could play innings like newzeeland opener what he did. It is the technical differences and the temperment difference.

as a result Sachin missed out on 3 sure shot century making opportunities in this tournament (against New Zealand,Zimbabwe and Pakistan in the league stage).

I remember my childhood. This was 1st world cup I saw. That time New Zealand was strongest. But they lost in Semi final.

They would not had lost if Martin Crowe would had been in the field. Even though he was not present in the field but still New Zealand lost the game with only one over lefy

Not once, but twice and knocked New Zealand out of the tournament eventually in the semi final ...

Kapil was a real saviour for India. He never played for records , unlike Sachin who was so concious of the no of 50 and 100 against his personal name. Personal record's was more important for Sachin. Kapil was least bothered about personal records. That's the mark of a true champion.
