  • Price the Milwaukee M18 FUEL High Torque 1/2" Impact Wrench with Friction Ring Kit on Amazon: amzn.to/2GPq8Z2
    Lug Nut Control - This is Milwaukee Tool's first High Torque Impact Wrench with One-Key and it will do much more than the normal customization, tracking, and management of the tool. Milwaukee disrupted the view of an impact wrench by working to make it a fairly accurate tool for delivering repeatable torque through an impact counter. While some were debating if being able to customize a tool was something the public needed, Milwaukee was in the lab perfecting their impact wrench to make contractors and mechanics work faster and more accurate.
    If you like One-Key, smartphones or technology, you can now create the perfect impact wrench settings on one of the most powerful 1/2" cordless impact wrenches on the market. Users do not need to pull out their phone for every car or bolt they want to fasten because Milwaukee set up the tool to be customizable in a few specific areas that allow each trade to set the tool up for themselves. No one wants to pull out a cell phone and connect to a tool to perform each specific job but to rather set up tool up once for how they use it.
    The new impact wrench has 4 custom profiles that can be changed just like many other Milwaukee Tools. With One-Key, once the custom settings are saved to the tool, the connection to the smartphone is no longer necessary. Your custom settings are saved in the tool until a user goes back into the app and changes them.
    2863-20 Features
    Most Repeatable Torque in Impact Wrenches
    1000ft-lbs of fastening torque and 1400ft-lbs of nut-busting torque
    Most compact cordless High Torque Impact Wrench at 8.39" in length
    ONE-KEY - Customize, Track and Manage tool’s performance and location
    Easily toggle four custom performance profiles that can be saved to the memory of the tool
    Features a friction ring design to ensure quick and easy socket changes
    Premium rubber overmold
    LED light to illuminate the work area
    Our Take On The Tool
    Milwaukee's new impact wrench deserves some respect when using it. It is a 1/2" model and delivers more torque than most fasteners in the 1/2" range can hold without damage. We found that the power was adequate to complete jobs a 3/4" impact wrench would do, even when we added the adapter to this gun. Adding the adapter does cause a loss of torque but it is not noticed with this impact wrench.
    With the power of this tool, many will want to take advantage of the adjustments that can be made through the One-Key app. Some users may have no interest in the Lug Nut Control or Concrete Fastener settings, but the general settings allow for a lot of user control, even if it is set up once and never changed. Beyond the changes, the ability to track and manage your tool collection is a big bonus to many professionals.
    Milwaukee changes the placement of the LED light. That small LED light is very bright and in some cases can interfere with mode changes. Many users will light that they can adjust this light in the One-Key settings.
    This tool is clearly a pneumatic replacement and the cordless jobsite will soon take over.

    This One Key Impact is Amazing!! This Wrench would be great to work with on the horse farm I work on. Mainly With the big tractors Being able to set the impact & get a repeatable torque is a huge game changer. There is also so many rusted up bolts on the property that this bad boy could just destroy with out any issue lol. Great Upload very informative!👍😊
    I Hope You all had a Great Christmas!🎅🛠 #WorkshopAddict

    Awesome video, thank you! What I gained is knowing it gets CLOSE but does NOT replace a torque wrench. It will also provide “repeatable torque” which is great. I think where the technology shines is tool tracking, especially for people with a lot of tools.

    I though One Key was a gimmick until I got my Milwaukee M18 Fuel Brushless 8-1/4" Table Saw with One Key and I like how I could lock it out and track it, then I decided to get a couple of ticks for some of my more expensive tools and toolbox and after carrying one around with me and seeing how well it worked I was hooked! I have the regular version of the Milwaukee 1/2" M18 Fuel Impact Gun and I am going to be taking it back and exchanging it for the One Key version, I know it's $60 more but in my mind it is going to be worth every penny! Keep the videos coming and keep up the good work guys, your my favorite tool channel on TH-cam!

    Fantastic....I've been looking all over the web for someone to get into the tool settings from the one-key app. Milwaukee web site doesn't explain it as well as you do. The levels from 1-10 are more understandable to me now when you actually measured their differences. Great job and thanks. Now I can go play :)

      (It’s already not an America company)Chinese Milwaukee
      Tool
      More than 96% Milwaukee tools are made in China. Milwaukee
      Tool has carried out tool-design job in China since 2015 year, the design job
      also is slowly sent /transferred from USA to China.
      Most plastic materials have been changed from America DuPont,
      GE to Chinese sources. The red plastic,Nylon,of Milwaukee tool handles/housings has been provided by a Chinese supplier
      since 2010,originally the Nylons
      were from DuPont,the Nylons-changeovers
      caused the handles/housings weak,like screws very
      likely strapped/slipped in screw holes. Also black hard plastic for battery
      pack cases/covers,changed from GE ABS/PC
      to a ABS/PC from a Chinese supplier,caused battery
      pack case more likely broken, brittle, the same story is happening on anti-flam
      Nylon material of battery frame,changing from DuPont
      to a Chinese supplier.
      Lots of bad tools always first are sold to USA because
      nobody inspects the outgoing, and because in USA Milwaukee Tool has the
      strongest warranty service ability than in other countries.
      During Milwaukee production process, more than 5% defects
      found out by workers, also more defects failed to be screened out. Bad tools
      include noise as gear,bearing aligned badly, sometimes press trigger no
      reactions at all, metal parts like shaft, gear, pinion, important screw broken
      as poor heat-treat, motor stator rubbing with rotator, fine wire laid inside
      tool broken as poor design and poor workmanship, big percentage of oil leakage
      for hydraulic tools, etc. 15% chance you will get a bad tool, bigger chance you
      will get bad tools for nailer, planer, hydraulic tools, cable/tube cutter, as
      they are first generation of tools for Milwaukee Tool, because comparing with
      sawzall, drill, Milwaukee Tool is suck at nailer, planer, hydraulic tools,
      cable/tube cutter,AC tools, drain cleaner, blower.
      Milwaukee Tool workers only get less than 300 dollars
      monthly salary,even plus OT to 276
      Hours a month(normal month-workhour is
      176 hours,plus 100 hours OT. Chinese
      law only allows no more than 36 hours OT per month), after OT 100 HOURS for every month,a worker can get 500 dollars monthly salary,this salary very
      low for living in a big city in China, plus bad working environment(the
      management has no such safety-first mindset that loud noise but no issuing ear
      plugs to workers, at dangerous stations very few goggles issued to workers. workers
      stand more than 10 hours every day during on-duty time), so Milwaukee Tool with
      huge employee turnover,400% yearly turnover,ie workers averagely work only 3 months for the factory, cause workers
      without enough experience,lack of training,then unable to ensure good quality. And worse worker- turnover with most
      Milwaukee Tool’s suppliers.
      After Milwaukee tools launched one year, Milwaukee Tool will do so-called VE, value engineering ,actually cost-down, change Germany trigger to Hong Kongese trigger even
      Chinese trigger/switch, change Japanese chuck to Chinese chuck, etc. Milwaukee
      Tool has a team, 50 persons to do this VE. The quality would obviously become
      worse after the VE.
      Milwaukee Tool has really bad quality system, lose much
      profit because of failing to keep quality constant. And always look for cheap
      materials, cheap suppliers, worker salary is always at minimum salary, only 30
      dollars higher than monthly minimum salary.
      Milwaukee Tool has less experience for making power tools
      comparing with Bosch,Dewalt, Makita.
      Milwaukee Tool only has grew fast from 2008 year. Milwaukee Tool copy and
      compare life test with Bosch, Dewalt tools during new product development
      stages, even when doing troubleshooting during R&D, would measure
      dimensions of these competitors’ components.
      This company is also an ugly company, in 2014, a Hong
      Kongese manager tried to rape a female employee during their business trip, the
      company fired him and less than half year, hired him again as a manager, then
      the female employee left this company and lost her job. In 2015, in its factory
      dormitory a more severe rape case really took place by a male senior manager to
      a girl.

    The absolute best part about One Key is that you can track things but also lock the tools out. So if you lock them out and someone grabs the tool on the jobsite, it isn't working, n matter how many times they insert or remove the battery.

      I really hope they continue that update over to the three-quarter inch model. Between a half inch and three-quarter inch drive impact, even if the guns are rated at the same foot pounds, And with the same sized Anvils. The three-quarter inch will win every time. It just makes more efficient use of the surface area, there’s much less loss to heat. I fix buses in Boston, and I’m always looking for that cordless solution to busting Lugnuts.
      As of 2016, I owned all of Milwaukee’s highest end cordless impact solutions. I’m excited to see what they will do in the future

    + or - 25% isn't even close to repeat-ability may as well just go by feel. set it at 800 and your torque range is 600-1000

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      You are right... Set to 100 and you are 75-125... The torque is set by the unit counting impacts. This is an example, but 100 ft lbs might be 35 impacts. Depending on the lubrication and material, that is as close as they can get. If you watched our testing on the ball and hitch, we were very, very close in torque, but each test was on the exact same nut and bolt, removing the variables. Anyway, you are correct in what you say and that is a huge torque range.

    Remember some suspension and other application nuts are “oval shaped” pinch lock nuts. look out for those: they often feel cross threaded and usually require some hammering to fasten and for lower torque situations, create a false reading. Something like a 35ft/lb nut that: because of it’s shape resists and stops at 20. And you have to keep working it to fasten. it’s so nerve racking lol.

    I have the 3/4 impact wrench. Love it, But,, on the box it advertisers that it has 2034nm. But in the app there's nowhere to change the newton metre settings, it's all in rpm and ipm. I'm certainly not any kind of tool man but I'm pretty sure the main measurement of tightening nuts is newton metres and foot pound. I rang Milwaukee to see if there was a conversion table so I could set my rpm settings to nm. But they didn't even know. They advertise nm but have rpm on the app,, that's pretty shit Milwaukee!!! Please tell me what Rpm and Ipm is used for as for me and many other people those settings are useless!!

    Just picked one up. I'm confused if it's supposed to be like this but when off if I rotate the drill forward and back I hear the anvil knock in and out. Shouldn't there be a spring that prevents this? I just want to know if it's normal or not and if I should return it. Older gen doesn't do this.

    DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT FT. LBS. THE TORQUE LEVELS (1-20 in the app) START/END AT? I contacted Milwaukee and got a lazy tech who stated there are no torque approximations for the levels, which is ridiculous because they got their "Max Torque" level somehow, so why can't they also give an approximation for each of the individual levels? We aren't stupid, we understand that a 1/4" bolt is going to get torqued more than a 1" bolt. But do I really have to click through each level and test it out with a torque wrench? I would appreciate the help if you've made a video or if there are specs out there on this. Thanks

    Could you expound on why a torque stick does not work with electric impact wrenches? I understand that the electronic control system of an electric impact wrench can monitor and respond to various loads perceived by the tool, and how it may respond to a torque stick, but do you have further information on exactly what the issue is?

    All amazing, just got one, but: Why the torques are NOT consistent? Should the internal computer apply the same torque at all times corresponding to the level chosen?

    • @WorkshopAddict
      @WorkshopAddict  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Impacts are not a precision tool, so for each value, the computer counts the amount of hammers. Well, the amount of hammers it takes for a well lubed nut or a rusted nut to reach a value is not the same. There are a million more variables that make this not a very accurate tool.

    • @philadv

      WorkshopAddict tks for the explanation!

  • @trevormorgan7138
    @trevormorgan7138 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Torque sticks will work if you lower speed. The reason they fail is because torque sticks require time to "flex". If the hammering force happens to quickly instead of flexing back to its initial state, it will get stuck in the flexed state and act as a solid rod.

    is torque for removing bolts on lvl 4 set to max by default or do u need to change it with app

  • @ryansmith6619
    @ryansmith6619 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think that if I were to use this tool I would set it about 30ft lbs less than what I need and then finish it off with a torque wrench. This will eliminate the strength needed to torque large bolts like a timing belt bolt but still make it accurate.

    • @akaredcrossbow

      Ryan Smith that’s what I want to do, but I can’t figure out the individual torque ratings for the 1-20 torque settings??

    • @MyFortressConstruction
      @MyFortressConstruction 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@akaredcrossbow I am trying to find that out too. They just give a generic answer, "It depends on the fastener". But that's silly because they tell you it has 1100 ft. Lbs of torque without throwing out the caveat of "It depends on the fastener". Someone with a fancy calibration tool needs to go through each level to give us an approximation for each level.

    • @akaredcrossbow
      @akaredcrossbow 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Fortress Construction So basically your correct! Someone needs to use a torque wrench and figure out what the 1-20 torque settings are. This is the reply I got from Milwaukee after I emailed them about the settings!!
      .....Currently we only list the max. torque on our impacts, the torque range on the other settings would be based on trial and error, you would need to check it with a torque wrench after tightening the bolt/nut. There are too many variables involved to determine the torque values on the other settings. If we can be of any further service please let me know.

    • @tomdickharryjane
      @tomdickharryjane 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@akaredcrossbow OK. Is that bad or good, in your opinion? If you say bad, why? Milwaukee says too many variables to able to say x impacts will give you y torque. There is not a torque transducer or strain gauge on the tool. Can you imagine how expensive and unreliable THAT would be?

    That's not how you test to see how tight a bolt has been torqued up. It takes less force to undo a bolt than to torque it up. due to not having to stretch the bolt also the ramp effect of the threads works in your favour when losing a bolt.

    I like that it has some consistency and that you can make changes via the app. I personally would still feel more comfortable hand torquing lugs on vehicles. I don't see why not. I ordered the 3/4" friction ring one touch. We work on Megayacht's where it usually involves a Torque multiplier and a 6' torque wrench. It's a pain cross referencing charts for anti-sieze and manufacturer specifications. The floor grid above whatever you are working on has to be dissasembled for working room. At 1000 ft lbs for example , I imagine the tool becomes way more accurate than at a smaller number with less impact event counts. In my application this tool could save hours or days of work. These slammed around torque wrenches are always out of calibration anyways. Now I can reach down with one hand and do a two man job with little to no dissasembly. A game changer. And close enough. This thing makes a I/R impact look like a toy and that's saying alot.
