Mariska Veres (Veres was born in The Hague. Her father was the Hungarian Romani violinist Lajos Veres (1912-1981), and her mother, Maria Ender (1912-1986), was born in Germany of French and Russian parents.She often accompanied her father on the piano along with her elder sister Ilonka, but her youngest sister, Irene, never had a career in music.
Thats why her English, with such a family background, was so good... considering the Dutch/English of some at the time..

As someone who lives in the state of Pennsylvania, USA. The only song of Hers I ever knew was Venus, as a kid. Never knew anything else about her. So I looked her up on TH-cam about 3 years ago when I purchased a smartphone. Anyway, I did see a video where she sang in I guess it's the Dutch language. I was amazed that she was even from another country.
Love hearing her sing in Dutch. Her English is as good as anybody's I know.

She was so beautiful, wasn't she. I did see a short documentary on here about them, which was filmed in 1988, when Mariska was 41. She had aged quite a bit considering this song is 1970. I wonder if she had some health issues at time. She wasn't known to be much of a partier, and was humble about her fame. What a talent. Such joy in that voice.
