If one plans to do this on a yearly basis, may I suggest that you use large colored magic markers to mark and number the bolts on the drain plugs. It wouldn't hurt to also have a list, 1through 8, stating what size or type of tool is needed for each drain plug. As you drain the different locations, you can draw a line through that number on your list. I did this two years ago, however, I'll never do it again. Last year it cost me $900.00, I'm sure this May it is going to be $1000.00. If one is thinking about buying a Huracan, you are going to be paying $1000.00 a year for oil changes. Let me also add that, it's worth it.
What a brilliant tool. Every time I see them draining oil onto a support brace or cross-member I've been thinking "surely there's a better way". And now we all know.
Done this job many times!! The plug way up high, use a tall Starbucks cup. There’s another one where you need a low-profile plastic tray. Of all eight, there are 4 different sizes of crush washers, all aluminum.
@@kyleanderson2807 it’s possible if you connect all the areas as one pan covering each hole, wouldn’t be pretty but it would work if they design it right, just be a really fat oil pan lmfao
Sweet !!! What an awesome car !!! Sure it may take a while but what an exciting reward to be able to say "I'm not hanging out today, I'm changing the oil on my Lambo"...lol
How do you reset the service reminder? I'm starting to prepare a video on changing my Huracan's oil and want to make sure I get that in there. I appreciate your video as it helps me tremendously.
Had to laugh when you tried removing the filter element from the housing!😂. It’s not like a 458, is it!!! There’s a trick to it. Put the housing upside in a vise. Use a flat head screw driver to pry the element to one side….to get it to release from one of the clips. Then work your way around, one more at a time!
But when you push away, you're less likely to bust your knuckles trying when it breaks loose. 20+ years of DIY mechanic with more busted knuckles than I have fingers.
@@DavidEdwards9801 how are you less likely to bust your knuckles pushing away from you than pulling toward you? That doesn’t even make sense. You can’t bust your knuckles pulling toward you. Maybe this is why you’ve busted your knuckles so many times over the years.
As a lambo tech for future huracans it’s better to place the actual filter in the engine first so that way if it goes on wrong you won’t have to struggle to take it off..also if you look over on the drivers side where the filter goes, there’s a hole and you just match up that little nipple with the o ring on it and push it in, then screw the filter housing on…also torque specs for the two little 5 allan screws is 10NM, the big one is 45NM, the T30 is 12NM, the oil cooler plug is 23NM, the two M8’s for the lines are 30NM, and the 13MM in the front is 30NM aswell…on the dip stick put the oil between the words Do Not and usually start with 9.3 Quarts then add after you see the temperature at 90…P.S. always make sure you tighten the oil filter because it’s not fun to clean lol
I'm sure it's been said already, but putting the filter cartridge in the engine first and then screwing the cap on is your safest option. I've seen a few blown up landrovers that use a similar cartridge and in short the plastic nipple needs to sit correctly in the drain hole in the filter housing, if not it usually gets snapped off or pushed up into the filter cartridge and then it's bye bye engine.
Nice video, the OCD in me was like clean that oil off the metal shield lol FYI the huracan takes 8-8.5 liters of oil. I hope you didn't really add 13. If you did drain immediately.
Hello, I'm a Korean who enjoyed watching the video. I'm trying to diy the huracan evo oil change. Is the torque value of the filter cap and draw plugs the same as in the video?
@@normalguysupercar Here's an idea, have a hole neatly machined in the cover so you can access the dipstick/fill without removing the cover. At least you could check the oil level that way.
I think 10 Nm is not enough torque to crush the crush washer. I don’t go by torque, I feel the effect of the crush washer deforming and know when to stop. If it’s an o-ring type drain plug it doesn’t need as much torque
@@normalguysupercar thanx.. PJ = Exotic Car Hacks, took a Lambo to the dealer for a service = oil change, check wheel torque and the cars filters. $1300, and he said that was cheap, lol.

This reminds me to stay with my American Car 😂, omg this oil change is like engine rebuild for some cars 😂, i would do an LS engine swap instead of this oil change 🙃
That style of oil filter housing sucks. The one on our Jeep Cherokee just cracked at 70,000 miles. We lost 5 quarts of oil before the check engine light came on. The repair cost us $1,000--the part itself was $350. There's a replacement one made out of metal instead of that cheap plastic. I would never ever buy another vehicle with that type of oil filter housing. By the way, a mechanic on YT said that is costs $17,000 to change the oil on a Bugatti!
Absolutely ridiculous! And this is exactly why I have a C8 Z06 coming this summer. Lamborghini headaches, no thank you. Btw that car looks so old and outdated underneath… I’m hoping they get with the times with the new 2024-2025 Huracan replacement… All Huracans are basically running around with 2014 technology

That's just asinine. There is no way I'd tolerate such an obnoxious oil change procedure. It's clearly done this specifically to be as much of a pain in the ass as possible and I have no patience, nevermind respect for that.

I've changed on my 2 huracans - one turbocharged and one stock. Both take less than 9 quarts. 13 liters is too much.
I made some wood spacers out of 3/4" boards for my lift feet.
Oh, that's a good idea.
Well now I certainly feel better about paying $450 for my mechanic to do this....holy cow great job.

I would imagine that the torque specs are designed to allow for heat expansion. Cool 😎 color!
Could be but it still needs to be enough to crush the crush washer and form a seal.
