to me as someone who never owned an FX airgun before id most likely pick the M4 since it more tuning newbie friendly vs the M3 with all the extra tuning/regulator tuning
Looking forward to mine arriving in the mail from you. In the interim, obviously geeking out on YT videos 😂 I was already toying with getting an M3 a few weeks ago, so I was excited when the M4 dropped on basically the same day I made that choice. I dig the new changes and glad it didn’t change too much. Anything could want is already made for the M3 and will work. Don’t break was isn’t broken. If you’re going to makes huge fundamental changes… create a new model!!! The N1 🤪
If you were a beginner with PCP and were considering the M4 like me, and you didn't already own the M3, would you get the M4? Couple of things *seem* better, such as the grip angle and the magnet holding the cocking lever back. I'm not keen on the copper look, but I don't *actually* care about that.
@NunchucksHabit if you have the cash to burn. Will it make you shoot better? Probably not. If anything, it's probably slightly more powerful. I added the hogue grip, extended rail, and a 300 bar tank to my M3. I'd go Western Rattler next time. That pcp comes out of the box fully juiced.

I saw Rick at Shooter 1721 shoot a 22 caliber FX impact and it penetrated 3/4 in of wood at 400 yds. I'm going to purchase a FX impact Mark 3 with a 600 mm Barrel, slug power kit and FTX Barrel. The question I have is will this 30 cal be as accurate and also be able to penetrate 3/4 inches of wood at 400 yd or is the slug going to be too heavy and lose too much energy at that distance?
@@surreallife777 68 Whisky shoots 30 almost exclusively. Might find something relevant there. I've seen him smoke a pigeon at 352. I can't imagine it wouldn't being that it's likely putting double the energy down range, and even if it didn't, double energy is still being absorbed into the target.. which if you're hunting is kind of the point. Over-penetration is wasted energy, and if you want over penetration, shoot harder lead and/or Non-hollow projectiles. It's like a 9mm vs anything that starts with a .4 in pistols, or FMJ vs Ballistic tips in rifles.

Wondering if a 700mm+ barrel is really necessary or convenient for < 100 yd shots. Anyone with FX Impact M3's have a specific caliber preference? I want to future-proof it by getting as much FPE as I can but I want it quieter than a .22 rimfire. What caliber is your preference?
Get the 700 for what you’re asking for it to do. I have a compact in .30. If you push them for slug power they get loud and jumpy out of the short barrel and still won’t get real high fpe numbers. I start getting hesitant to back yard shoot mine after 75fpe. Shorter barrel is better for pellets and lower reg pressures.. and at least in the Maverick (what I have), they ship with pellet liners in the shorter guns (I have a slug liner). A 700mm .30 at similar velocity to what you’d get from a hot 500mm (or shorter) tune will sound like a mouse fart in comparison, have a better shot count and will be more accurate. 80fpe with pellets is about silent… Tink … WHACK!!! You can tune a 700mm .30 (950/52gr JSB Knockout) to match grade .22lr like energies (104fpe) and still have a dang quiet gun with a good moderator.
