It's just the fun factor that he's missing these days. Let's be honest, it'd be hard for Eminem to not sound great, but to sound fun is different. His songs back in the day were fun and his new music typically is not.
Ramos Essai What it means to have a song that sounds fun is that your head will naturally bob to it when you're just relaxing and listening to it... Can you even relax and listen to Shady XV in the background? Maybe you can but it's not that type of album in my opinion. (Minus the old stuff like In Da Club) If you take the quickest and craziest verses he has now and put them into older songs people would have been like "Daaaaamn" when the verses came up, but they'd have really listened for the music, beats and smooth flow and not for those verses. Now he's like a guy with an uzi with mag capacity of 5000 when the track starts, he just sprays and sprays without much for a fun and smooth beat.
I get it now, its much more about lyricism than song structure at this point

What I love about Eminem (aside from his phenomenal lyricism, terrific delivery and astounding skills) is his incorporation of current events into music. The man is literally like a journalist. You listen to his oldest songs and you hear him discussing Columbine. Move on a few years, it's all about 9/11 and the War in Iraq. Now, he's referencing the Boston Bombers. It makes me feel like I know him, as he has traveled through all of these critical world events with me.

8 years later Yelawolf, even though he didn't have a verse here, in my opinion could probably come close to out rapping Em 🤷 his rhymes are insane and on par with Slim with the rhyming every syllable with the next line rather than last word, almost every yela song tells a story something that I haven't seen done so flawlessly since Biggie, and lastly his flow is OUT OF THIS WORLD when he goes in.
