Some tips when making dua:
Do a good deed like donate to charity, pray 2 rakah nafl, read Quran, recite dhikr before making dua.
1. Make wudhu and face the qibla
2. Praise Allah
3. Send salutations on our Prophet saw
4. Ask for your needs and use the name of Allah most relevant for your need
5. Connect your needs to religion and how granting you your dua will bring you closer to Allah and Islam
6. Repeat steps 2 and 3 when closing your dua
7. Recite rabbana taqabbal dua
You are a gift to the ummah may Allah aizawajal reward you

Du'a/supplication is so powerful that when it is said to Allah with sincerity, that du'a can inshaAllah (by Allah's Will & Mercy) change one's destiny or some people's destiny. This is why sinners/hypocrites/unbelievers should be careful with the way they deal with Muslims, especially the righteous Muslim who are very close to Allah (they remember Allah much and do many good deeds that Allah loves) then the du'as of those Muslims against those evildoers may surely be answered. Allah knows best.

correct me if I'm wrong but I think he said when we're asking from Allah we shouldn't say In sha Allah but when we just state like while we talking and say may we get this..and then we're supposed to say In sha Allah.. coz in dua we asking directly from Allah

One can imagine the state of a people who mistreat Muslims and those Muslims, as well as the Muslim friends of those Muslims around the world, when they say their du'as/supplications against those evildoers Allah will inshaAllah surely answer their cries and grant their requests at the time that Allah, the Most Wise, knows is most befitting (for those Muslims and against the evildoers who unjustly mistreat Muslims for the Muslims' choice to believe in the Only One God). If I do this will Allah listen to my duaa and bless me with good health and help me get in dental school, form a family, etc? I had bad blood work recently 4 weeks before graduation :-(

How to make a doa and what to mention: (BY MUFTI MENK)
1. Do good deeds before you make a doa (read alquran, 2 rakaat, sadaqah, anything good)
2. Praise Allah SWT (Tamdih) a lot
3. To ask forgiveness to Allah SWT (Repent)
4. Shalah Ala Nabi SAW
5. Ask what you want (ask something sensible - play your role and the rest leave it to Allah SWT)
6. Ask for permissible things
7. Never say inshaAllah but say GIVE ME if its better for me
8. Choose words of humbleness and choose pretty words. Be humble to Allah SWT
9. Never be in a rush be patient for the answer - Allah answers the doa positively
10. Allah is the decider! The goodness relies in whatever Allah has done.
11. Doa’s in the Quran:
- to grant us the ability to thank Allah SWT
- to be granted the ability to do good deeds
- to have a child (doa Nabi Zakariyah AS)
- always say “accept our doa - RABANNA TAQABAL MINNA”
- make doa for our parents (very important)
- ask doa for knowledge
- to be granted clarity in the heart/ chest (Surat Al Insyirah)
- ask for mercy (Surat Al Kahf) and Allah’s goodness
12. Make DOA FOR OTHERS
13. Ask Allah SWT for the goodness of the dunia - balance it with the akhirah (doa in Surat Al Baqarah)
14. Important to make a prayer so Allah removes the hatred from our heart (Surat
15. Make doa when you are in difficulty
16. Doa to protect us from being oppressed and oppression
17. Doa to Allah to take us out from a bad environment
18. Doa to forgive our sins ( Surat Al Baqarah - powerful doa)
19. Make a doa when you see other creature
20. To make a doa to have a good death - to be granted death as a muslim (Surat Yusuf)
21. Doa to ask Allah to not embarras us in the Qiyamah
22. (Surat Al Furqan) Doa to be kept away from the punishment of Jahanam.

I believe he was addressing the general audience which are men. I think there is nothing wrong with that. May Allah increase the mufti with more beneficial knowledge for us to benefit. I heard also that this Mufti doesn't accept payments/honorarium for his lectures.
