Yes, absolutely! It’s an incredible opportunity for a young student to experience a whole different part of our beautiful country. As a high school student from a small rural town in Québec, I actually had such an opportunity; with my English class, we did a bilingual exchange with a French immersion class from Manitoba. They visited us for one week, and we went to their town for one week. It was so much fun!! Québec and Manitoba are so different on so many levels, especially culturally, which was very interesting and also beautiful. Despite the differences, everyone had such a friendly and welcoming attitude. This experience made me want to continue to work hard on my English skills and now, I’m a translator (English to French). ❤️
Our video from the Arctic. RCN officers working together with CCG on the CCGS Louis S. St-Laurent that is a Canadian Coast Guard Heavy Arctic Icebreaker. The gold medal at the Historical And Military Film Festival Warsaw, 22 - 26.10.2018 for the film The RCN Arctic Experience & Operations. Big thanks to Canadian Coast Guard, Commander Corey Gleason, Commanding Officer of HMCS Harry DeWolf, Commander Michele Tessier, Commanding Officer, HMCS MARGARET BROOKE. #arctic #maritime #navy #sailing #defence #adventure #cooljobs
Probably not. My guess is they have radar to detect thick ice like that and the ships are extremely strong anyways. Commercial ships have gotten stuck like this, though.
@@nate7079 you Americans are so butthurt over being shown up by Canada in 2 world wars, that you make these little comments to try and sooth your own ego.. America sucks so get over it
In March 1984 I was on the Louie, NE coast of NFLD, bay Verte I believe, the wind struck off NE and rafted the ice up 15 -20 feet high, we were stuck in that bay for 22 days, each day we would make an attempt full ahead and astern but couldn't break free of the pack ice.
We have an unarmed coast guard that only rates search & rescue. Plus, 6 new arctic patrol vessels that are so poorly armed they are at risk from sinking in a hostile emergency. A violent international emergency that could occur 100 miles from Thule in December. Think about it. In the RCN littoral fleet of some 25 vessels, not a single one sports a 20mm Phalanx CIWS. Not a single one sports 1 missile launcher. WTF
Every Canadian school kid should be given the opportunity to experience the true Canada....It would make us all better as a community.
Id love that

Super excited for the RCN to do these trips! Hopefully, I will be on one of these ships in the near future. :O)
Very nice God Bless the Coast Guard
Has there been a case when the ice wouldn't break and then the ship couldn't reverse because it went too far up the ice?
not during my sail

She is the strong female.
Your editor needs to learn how to edit sound
Yeah they don't need to lay the ice/ship/weather sounds over people talking. Interesting video though.
