I love floppy disks. Their faces and sounds are just adorable. I had been using them for many years, until the early twenty first century. I moved to Japan in the first half of 2000s, which officially ended the daily use of floppy disks, because new PCs sold in Japan then did not have floppy disk drives anymore.
I also have an Apple //e with a SIDER 10 MB external hard drive. Very state-of-the-art at the time. (A year after I bought it, they released the 20 MB version for the same price, which was $800 USD. And so began the “race” to keep up with hardware and software.) :-)
I've got a bunch of them left over from the 95 and 98 days. I haven't used one since at least 2008, probably before that in 06. Even when I was a kid in the 90s, daily use wasn't a thing for me. We mostly had things on cd rom.
What's so bad in principle with floppy disks ? they might have advantages sometimes in terms of security and are still used in aviation, power plants etc... Floppies will disappear at some point anyway even without it being a stated goal. Shouldn't governments think of de-google and de-microsoft themselves more than eliminate floppies as a policy ?
The last time I used a floppy disk was to erase a hard drive with KillDisk software, which is still available for free and allows you to have a Bootable CD/DVD/ISO/USB disk creator.
who uses that now a days ppl use pendrives now and the cloud and external hdd and yes ive used them last time dont remember i thik i still have some i did not like that i had to use ndd norton disk doctor and scan disk to repaire them
I go back to the IBM PC 5.25" diskette. Last time I used a 3.5" floppy disk was last year, and yes I still keep them.

I still have several computers with functioning flopping disk drives (5-1/4”) plus 3.5” drives, plus special higher-capacity removable media, etc.

Still have lots of floppy disks both 3.5" and 5.25" have not used the, in years (no drive" but disposal is a problem (data etc.)

Now let's see if they can finally manage to move away from Fax Machines too.
