I totally agree with you about the hi-lift jack being mostly eye candy. Along with the factory jack, I carry a low-profile race style floor jack with the wheels removed and piece of serrated steel floor grate welded to the bottom for beef and traction; the 2-piece tube handle for the floor jack doubles as a breaker bar and I have a modified shovel head that attaches to it securely, giving you the choice between a short or full length shovel handle with full size spade bit. It all stows in the 7" tall space underneath my Tuffy bed box, along with my recovery goodies. Us TJ guys have to economize space by having several uses for every item onboard.
I wish id went 3.5 inch lift right off instead of cutting cheap with a 2.5 then going back at later date replacing it with a 3.5. listen learned always get what you want not what is cheap. cause you will find yourself spending more money later getting what you first wanted.
Agree with the exhaust. I did the same, bought a catback and hated the sound and look. I went with a magna flow and a dynomax turn down with built in hanger and love it. Sounds so much better and way less money
My main reasons for a tank was to try to run air tools which wasnt successful and I bought 20v tools, and to combine the two viair pumps. For just airing up, with a ARB dual pump, a tank isn't really needed. I think River Raider makes a skid plate for a tank for the oem muffler area, and another option for along the frame rail too you may wanna check out.
If you have a big lift and 37” tires, you will appreciate the high lift. Mine has saved me several times from being stranded. The normal jack simply will not reach...
I'm in the process of swapping out all my steel armor/skids for Aluminum, at least 500 lbs lighter. I regret trying to build up D30...RCVs, truss, sleeve, gussets & locker only to swap that out for a ProRock 44 w/ 35 spline RCVs & ARB locker but now I'm wishing I just went with D60 full float/locking hubs. But it's like you said, as time goes by, your needs shift & no sense in regrets with all the should've, would've, could've...there's no way I could've predicted that coilovers would be the best route for me to go for the here and now, 6 years ago. It's a learning process. You might not recoup what you spent but I've never had a problem selling old mods to offset costs for the new. Personally, I wouldn't go crazy with air compressors either. CO2 tank is the way to go imo. No wires to run, no high amperage draw, no noise, portable and air up all 4 in under 5 min.
Ya the Jeep is an evolving beast eh! Im pretty happy with my axles, my goal for the next couple years is to attende a few Jeep Jamborees and they limit to 37s so no need to build bigger axles and tires. I'd love to do a bigger build but I think my next big mod will be a motor swap. The CO2 tanks are a great route to go, so are the ARB twin pumps, I think it comes down to personal preference, for me I just don't like the having to fill the CO2 tanks and if its too low can't air up, and its kind of bulky as well, but thats just my preference. Thanks for stopping by and watching the video!
Hey! thinking about getting a jeep myself. What are your thoughts on getting a rubicon and trussing the Dana 44. I'd like to get a D60 but i think thats out of my budget
I would disagree with some of the points about the hylift. We have turned a vehicle over from inverted with a hylift. They make a great pulling or pushing tool when needed.
I can do the same with a winch and snatch blocks, and for the number of times I might need to roll something back over I don't need a hilift, but if flipping cara over is something you need to do more frequently then perhaps a hilift is for you. I prepare for what I feel is likely to occur, not every situation possible.
Did the magnoflow high output. On my jlu, wasn't much cheaper, but someone nds better and looks nicer. And tucked up much better. Your video helped me make better wt saving decisions. Ty. I had to add a roof rack to hold our rooftop tent, so that alone adds wt. I decided to keepy plastic fenders and going to add highline lights to help with wt.
My biggest regret with my old jk was only going with a 2.5" lift. The tj I have now has a 4" and a 2" body lift. 4" is the absolute smallest I would ever buy.
Great advice and video, we got a arb twin compressor which I'm planning a small tank underneath the jeep. looking at the poison spyder extra wide aluminum fenders. Cheers .
Would you take out the factory muffler and replace it with another in the same position? or re-locate it? If you re-locate it, where would you put it? I have a stock muffler on my JK and almost went with the one you did. I makes sense to me to just replace the muffler. So I am glad I found your video.
My personal opinion is that a muffler mid way with a pre axle dump is better for keeping it out of the rocks and a lot cheaper. If you need to exit it behind the jeep I would stil put the muffler where I did and just run a tail pipe out over the axle. There are some nice mufflers though for the factory location that tuck higher. I have a very high clearance rear bumper and I think those would still look funny.
I think the Powertankis too. It does take up a quite a but of room as well in the cargo area. It could be mounted to the roll bar but then either I have to remove it all the time or risk it being stolen. I like to keep everything in my Jeep in the Tuffy security trunk and just hop in my Jeep and wheel. As well, I don't like the idea of having to make sure it has enough air and finding time to fill it when its low, the pumps are always ready to go. Lastly, and this may be up to the individual, but a friend who has a C02 tank was always feeling light headed when airing down and couldn't figure why, until he stopped using C02 in his tires to fill them.
Ya I'm going back and forth on this one. Haven't made a final decision. Would like to get more opinions on it. I keep my hard top on. Where I live there are people who seek out opportunities to still your stuff even at target. Had my truck broken into after a road trip, went to get fish bate came out 10in layer and windows where cracked. Police where worthless on this incident

Casey, what are you using to mount your gear on the spare tire?
It's a posion spider carrier and bolts lol
@@Casey250 Okay, Thanks!! LOL
I am thinking of using Genright sliders and bumpers. Only concern I have is with it being aluminum smashing the front bumper into the FAD.
Thanks for the exhaust idea. That would definitely save some money.
