I just lost my GoPro Hero 9 last month with a UGo line mount, it snapped after landing a backroll. Still haven't found a solid choice. Anyway, nice video, thanks a lot and keep it up! Your channel is awesome

Checking to see which you are still using, any new mounts you have found?

Great review. I will design one and 3D print it for my hero session 5. It will be using every good feature you mentioned.
The mounts breaks because they don’t allow for error. If the mount is too low, the lines squeeze the mount. If the mount is to far out, the lines are going to rip apart the mount. It needs to allow some play on one line in that direction. So you set up roughly in the safe area and the mount won’t take any effort. To prevent it from sliding I have a clever idea.
If it’s good enough I will contact a brand to make them with industrial standard injection processes.
One quick question, how much do you need to stabilize the footage ?

Yeah, I think those are the key challenges. I think you either need to go very strong (kite line mount / mentese labs), or you go flexible like the uGo or the KLM. The issue with the flexible ones is sometimes they bend and the mount then comes into frame on the gopro and ruins the shot.
In terms of stabilizaing, I think since the GoPro 10 or 11 there's 360 horizon lock, so they stay rightside up as your kite rotates, and the stabilization is really good, so you dont need to add anything else.

@@erbartlett I use the camrig mount works okay but definitely might try a new one that is easier to put on. would you choose the noir for ease of use?

@@aaronknappster the noire matter has the best design especially if you're going to use a 360 camera sometimes. but it did break in my first session, so i need to figure out if that was user error, or a design flaw.

@@erbartlett okay I'll definitely try one of the new ones you reviewed as the one I use takes to long to setup.

@@aaronknappster the J-mount and the Noire matter were the fatest to set up, but they both broke. The two kite line mounts didn't break but were slower to set up :)

I do kite aerial photography and my camera is a GoPro 7. I'm just starting and I have a standard line mount they made for kite surfing. Since I'm not in water I just wrap it in foam of my own make and attach to a single line parafoil. Anyone know what they use just for getting a cam up high on dry land?

I have a UGO line mount, it is safe to practice backrolls and kiteloops with the line mount? or it is not possible to loop the kite with the mount?
