Hi Dominic, The headset I use is the Halo from Quiet Technologies, not the Clarity Aloft. I believe they are very similar, though. I really like the Halo (vs. a traditional, ANR) headset because of the extremely light weight and lack of pressure on my ears. It doesn't feel like wearing a headset at all. It also gives me an extra inch of headroom - I'm a tall guy, so that's important to me.
I tried to get it on the ground at Beverly, but was unable to receive it there. So I did the next best thing, which is get the latest weather report (METAR) online. I had already checked NOTAMs online. I figure that should cover it; I expected that on this very short flight with busy approach control frequencies there wouldn't be a real chance to listen to the ATIS in the air.

Having three places after the decimal point makes that look like $268,700 as a landing fee and not $268.70. Please tell me it was $268 dollars.

That's a Piaggio Avanti. At first glance, it looks a bit like the Beech Starship, but it's a more recent design from Italy.
$268 to land???? Would they waive the fee if you bought fuel?
Typically, FBOs can waive the handling charge with a fuel purchase. They don't have much say over the other fees that the airport or city defines.
