A++++. How did I miss your channel? Just starting to watch your videos. They show bicycle touring in all it's glory and hardships. Pitching your tent on an ants nest made me laugh. Sorry. Every seasoned cycle tourist has done this at some point. It's not funny at the time though as they get everywhere and more often than not they are the biting kind. i thought I liked cycling in France but then last year I discovered Gran Canaria which is cycling paradise if you like mountains and this autumn Andalucia in Spain is fabulous. May 2024 I ride from Santander to Malaga taking one month. I can't wait as I love riding in Spain. I have ridden in lots of other countries but Spain is the best.
I got exactly same black saddle bags from Thule, really nice ones with fast unlocking&locking system and u can carry them as bag with bag strap that they include, they're waterproof and they got really bright reflectors on both side so nice increase to safety and no need to add own ones into bike. Both are 25liter bags to carry good amount of stuff.
I was searching for Pannier reviews, and saw yours about Thule. Now, I just started watching your videos from the beginning, and am looking forward to watching as your journey unfolds. (Also, I agree about the knee pain, especially after riding long after I should have stopped.)
To Alex and pretty girl, it's really good to see you're both happy and smiling now, a bottle of wine and a bag of chips can do that. I'm sure I felt the water when you took us for a paddle. I do like it when you ride next to each other. If you want to stop falling off the bike, dont drink so much wine. Thanks for the vlog, take care.
Haha the “if you want to stop falling off the bike, don’t drink so much wine” really got me laughing 😝😃😃 I didn’t fell off the bike after that anymore luckily. I had to adjust to the weight of the bike I think ☺️
I'm so glad I found your channel and I like your snack selections! We are planning on doing a cycling trip on our Europe trip in a few months. Leaving from Spain. :)
Great video - my girlfriend and I are doing a similar tour this summer! Did you make a packing and baggage/storage list? If so, could you share this? :)
"then we realized we were camped on top of an ant's nest.. we were covered in ants, spiders, and [more] insects" ... I instantly started itching at the mere thought! goodness gracious, I'll go bicycle touring, but for that reason right there alone, you will not ever catch me camping! ahhhhh
Hi gang. Planning a cycling trip in 2024. Part of my route will take me from Strasbourg to Villingen-Schweningen. I am planning to ride through Ichenheim and Friesenheim as I lived there when I was younger. Might you have a good idea as to the best bike route after Lahr going eastwards. Love your journey thus far.
Hi Brent, that sounds amazing! If you like; you can have a look at the exact route that we took on our website (also available in english): bikingbeyond.de . There is a tab called “map”, where you can see our route to Straßburg in detail. We enjoyed the route and found the road infrastructure for cyclists in a very cold condition. Something that might be interesting for you could be the “Donauradweg”, a well Known and well built bike route. In general and as of our experiences until now we have to say the bike lanes/ pathes in Germany and France were definitely the best we saw so far, so even if you decide to ride “off route” you still should be fine :) contact us if you have any further questions!
@@biking_beyond Thank you for your reply. Will definitely look at your site now. EuroVelo 15 and 6 are most likely the route I will take however part of me would like to ride on the ElbeRadWeg. I probably won't decide for another year. Be safe and enjoy yourselves.
That’s the misery! You have to take your stuff with you at all times! That’s why sometimes we decided to get an accommodation. While staying in Portugal, we hid our stuff under some bushes during the day😅 it was a perfect hiding spot but we were a bit scared the our stuff could burn down in the wildfires while we spend the day at the beach 😄
Nice to see, but I must conclude you did not prepare very well for this trip. Always do some trainingrides with a fully packed bike, so you know how it feels, if your position is good, if there are diffences between left and right. etc.
50 km and 2 hours finding a campspot …. If that is already a Challenge…. Not prepared at all. Sorry to say. But I hope you liked your trip. That is the most important👍
Proper preparation brings about a mindset shift from seeking fun to "embracing the suck". I teach my kids to avoid saying how difficult things are...to be thankful for everything. Stoic philosophy.
You guys have done it great and Iam overwhelmed to see it.
The place and weather is v cool.
What has happened to your posts!? Are you posting adventures anymore?😮
I have 11 days off in July im a 23 year old Triathelete and very excited for an adventure but no idea where to go! :D I have a ROAD bike though
Just discovered your channel. Really enjoyed your cycling trip and now I’m about to view more of your adventures. Thank you.

Wow super nice, how long do you plan your trip to be?
@@biking_beyond not sure but we’ve got lots of time!
I love you guys, your so inspirational
awesome video I want do this trail next year with my surf board from Brittany
Cycled Brittany six years ago was the best part of the France , as an Australian I wish it was easier to live there longer than the visa allows .

It’s beautiful, do it!!!

What do you do with your stuff if you want to set up camp and go shopping? Or go for a swim?

While staying in Portugal, we hid our stuff under some bushes during the day😅 it was a perfect hiding spot but we were a bit scared the our stuff could burn down in the wildfires while we spend the day at the beach 😄
Great videos. In Spain it was very cold, which period were you there?
Thanks! It was End of June/ beginning of July I think, the exact dates are given in the videos ☺️
Ive heard that Euro Velo 1 in France is very car-free. Did you find this to be true?
100% true since you NEVER share the road with cars. You always have separate paths just for bikes☺️
Hi, what bikes are you using?
Where the hell are you?? This could be a good video if you'd shown' what your trip was.
Nice to see, but I must conclude you did not prepare very well for this trip. Always do some trainingrides with a fully packed bike, so you know how it feels, if your position is good, if there are diffences between left and right. etc.
We did, but since we were working a LOT before quitting our job it was not possible to do longer trips than 1-2 days 😞

Yikes you had a lot of gear
Et en allemand ? Und auf Deutch ?
Wie meinst du das? 😉
