    I bought this jack after seeing your review. The deciding factor was the foot pump. The smaller lifting pad is a good feature, also. Thanks for pointing that out.

    Just bought one, right out of the box I put it under the dually rear of my Ford T350HD service truck with a Knapheide utility body, which currently weighs in at about 9,000 lbs... it got the whole rear off the ground enough for me to rotate the tires and install valve stem extensions... First impression is great!

    Thanks for the great review and quality production. I just bought the Yellow Daytona yesterday as I noticed it doesn't sit any higher than the LP Long reach model. I had two main areas I was hoping it would do well. 1.) 2008 Miata Sport, I wanted to be able to reach the front jack point and since both the Yellow or Orange Long Reach are the same height I found the longer reach ended up not even being needed as the yellow model slide under the car just as easily as the long reach. 2.) RAV4 Gen 3. I wanted a jack that could raise it up high enough to slide some wheel ramps under it so I could quickly and easily set the entire vehicle up on 4 ramps. I still need to test this as I did measure it and it is close. The long reach might be needed with that extra 1" of lift.
    I do agree with you the smaller jack pad would work better for me as well with a Miata, Sienna and Rav4. My hockey puck allows for a more pinpoint jack location though so not a big deal. Too bad we can't buy alternate jack pads either small or large from HF.
    So I think I will likely keep the yellow model as it is just as low as the long reach so I didn't end up even needing that extra reach for that deep jack point on my Miata. I like the 3yr warranty and zerk fittings all over to properly grease it even though I don't need that level of durability as I don't use the jack all that often. Also there was $20 off the Yellow model that made it cheaper by $10 than the long reach. The only main feature I might like is the extra 1" lift and foot lift.

    I personally bought this jack 4 months ago after comparing it to the yellow one, the pistons are the same size welds are the same. The only difference is the saddle and saddle mount are smaller and the front wheels dont have zerks fittings to take grease, and the handle on the yellow jack has a quick release pull pin

  • @topgunns1000
    @topgunns1000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Both of my yellow Daytonas do that saddle pump thing. I was going to exchange it, but all the ones on display do it too. Therefore, I've concluded it's normal and don't care anymore LoL! excellent editing!
    *update* I'm only adding this because of the notification i got about my original post which brought me back here. Here goes... the gondola over my porch has a rotting main post holding it up. I used my yellow Daytonas to jack up other wooden posts to support the structure while i replace the rotten post. The jacks have been holding it up for about 4 days now. No leak down.

    Decided to compare this to its $60 cheaper, non long reach brother, thinking i could care less about the foot pedal and an extra inch of reach for $60 price premium. I was quite surprised to see they are completely different jacks, in height, lifting height, length (like 4.5 inches longer) and most shocking...weight. This beast weighs a solid 25lbs more than the low profile standard reach brother. The smaller, lighter version should meet my needs, its actually not nearly as tall and the lifting height is a bit lower, so it also has advantages besides being much less expensive. Nice review!

    I saw that jack at Harbor Freight, I was going to buy it for the same reasons as you. I went to pick up the box and noticed that it was very heavy. I thought it's too big and heavy, I don't have anywhere to store it, having a single car garage. The thing is that I noticed in your video, is that the handle comes off very easy, which would allow me to store it. I think I will go back and buy it.

      Hi George Cicairos, That sounds like a great idea! Have you also thought about placing the jack in the center of your garage at the end, so that when you park your car the jack would sit under your bumper? You would just have to be careful not to hit it or run over it haha!

    15:00 In fluid dynamics, the presence of air in the fluid creates the exaggerated or erratic actuator movement you experienced where too much (hydraulic in this case) fluid has the same effect as too little. Every system has a "just right" point, whether it's your washing machine or your toilet tank or brake lines.

    The Daytona Super Duty is the SnapOn jack. Same manufacturer, same factory, same assembly line, same jack. Only jack with the 3 year warranty.
    This long reach is only 1 inch longer in length from pivot to saddle, and goes about 3/4 of an inch taller and about 1/2 inch shorter. The Super Duty is worth the extra 40 dollars over this Long Reach version. Plus I found the foot pedal to be a useless feature that's just in the way.
    Edit: Personally, I mostly work on trucks, SUVs, and tractors and the larger saddle pad on the Super Duty jack is a much better feature.
    Also, the Daytona Super Duty jack reaches full height in only 4-1/2 full stroke pumps.

    One small suggestion, if I may? You might want to lose the loud music that plays for about 10 seconds starting at 6:21. No good. Sorry. By the way, did you get the extended warranty? If so, how much did you pay for how long a warranty?

I might get an extended reach also someday, never have too many tools!!!

    Thanks for the review. I was between this and the yellow. I just got this for 159.99 which is a pretty good deal. Skipped the warranty, the reviews on these are too good and I use a jack less than 8 times a year usually. Am using them to lift a 340i (3700 lbs) and a Jetta (3200 lbs), so the orange is more than enough.
    I do need 2 jacks and have an old craftsman that's pretty worn out. Thinking I'll get the yellow next year around the holidays as it was on sale this year. Hopefully that'll mean two jacks that outlast me with the proper care. Thanks again for the thorough review.

I still employ jack stands or a bottle jack (as backup) in case I accidentally move/release the Daytona. The steel model is heavy but rugged. Great video thank you! I'm wanting to pull the engine/transmission/suspension out from the bottom of my car and it's looking like I may be able to with that jack if I can find a way to hold the body up or I may roll the assembly out the side (I have a pallet with wheels I can use if clearance allows). I ordered it with 15% off so around $170, plus shipping and I also got the Pittsburgh 25" breaker bar with a comfort grip for $15.

    Many still don't know what the foot pump is for. And it's not to lift vehicles at all.

  • @jamesbrown4401
    @jamesbrown4401 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That dead spot on the Daytona jack was because it was your first time lifting something with considerable weight. It was literally priming the cylinders and creating the high pressure it needs to lift. The 2nd time you lift with it. It will be gone. I have the 3 ton super duty and it also did that on the first lift. You didn't think of this. You're a mechanic. ???

  • @stephencannon3140
    @stephencannon3140 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have this jack and works great. They also sell a cross bar adapter that allows you to make a T and for small/compact vehicles you can raise both axles at the same time. Makes it easier to do brake work. The only drawback is sometimes the lifting point and jack stand point are the same. Have to find a designated spot for jack stands. For brake and suspension work you can remove a tire and set the Jack Stand on the control arm. Flip flops in a work shop environment aside he does have a point about not using to support. That’s what jack stands are for.

    • @Rhosticks
      @Rhosticks 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This one sits a little lower, goes a little higher and goes a little deeper than the yellow one. Depending what you want to do with it or what you're working on. They both handle the same weight. I got the yellow one when it just came out and it's still going strong. I have zero issues with it.

      the yellow one is literally the same jack as snap ons. literally same factory. snap on actually sued them over it but lost since the manufacturer sold it to both of them. the new daytonas seem to be just riding on the curtails of the yellow one. the yellow one has been proven, the orange have not.

    Hey I have a question this is my first jack I have ever bought/used and was wondering if it’s normal that I can turn the handle counterclockwise without it stopping/locking? Is this normal? I can just keep turning but then the more I turn the more I need to turn clockwise to lock the floor jack in order to raise it up. Is this normal or should a floor jack lock while turning counterclockwise? Thanks in advance!
