I remember Clive Rees was a very good counter attacker, a lot of people don't realise he was on the successful tour of South Africa with the lions in 1974. I always thought the Wales v Scotland games were very entertaining back in those days, the Scots played a fast rucking game and very entertaining.
Great tries from great Scotish players that bring back great memories. Especially when I hear the names Irwin and Caulder, only one of these trys but I remember getting beaten and freezing cold sitting in Murrayfield all too often
He is small compared to today's players. His bald head (and 'tash) made him look older than he was. I remember hearing a commentator remark during the 1997 Lions tour to South Africa that the average weight of the forwards during the 1974 tour was approximately the same as the average weight of the backs in 1997.
Jim Renwick was small-ish, not especially quick and left it to the forwards to smash the rucks. But he had a sensational side-step, deceptive change of pace and an utterly brilliant nose for open space on a rugby field.
I remember watching those live. I spilled a lot of beer.
You know you’re in the eighty’s when the players are running like bats out of hell and box kicking everywhere god I love old rugby
I was there, my first ever Scotland away match.
Ian Paxton was a class player.
In all that Scottish great display , I must pay tribute to Clive Reese who never gave up the chase , a guy to have on your side surely
All of them were great!

The tries were by (1) Jim Calder and (2) Jim Renwick. Andy Irvine was the Scottish fullback.
Lots of the players with their combovers and moustaches look like they are in their 50s 😀
I had to Google the teams and apparently Jim Renwick was just 30 years old. He looks small for a centre.
I wish he was welsh! He was some player.

In those days, no-one got 50 caps. Renwick and Irvine were, I think, the first Scots to do so. Amazing players.
thought both were against England.. bcoz usually, that’s the only time Scotland know how to play Rugby, esp lately..
Short-sighted. Scotland's most recent win was against Argentina who were smashed after having just beaten NZ and AUS away from home.
Want some nuts to go with that pint of bitter?
