Qin Shihuang would never call himself a 'Son of Heaven'. That title is exclusively used by those emperors who openly embrace Confucianism and worship its pantheon, where the patriarchal supreme deity Tian-Tengri (Heaven) is personified as Jade Yellow Great Emperor and thus the lawful ruler of the China land under the heaven itself, becomes understood Son of Heaven. On the other hand, Qin Shihuang is famous for his anti-Confucianism campaigns and mass destruction committed against both Confucian scholars and libraries. Qin Shihuang himself believed in some obscure form of local Sinitic shamanism (which is related and likened to today's Bon religion found in Tibet) and Law-as-itself. Back then, both but especially the latter of the two, took Confucianism as some sort of dangerous cult, which was harmful to the idea and practice of the unification of China (which was literally 'the Seven Kingdoms' of 'Easteros' before Qin Shihuang).
There's some mixing of terms there... Tengri is the Mongolian sky god and isn't a cognate if Tengri. The Jade Emperor and Yellow Emperor are also completely different figures.
Qin Shihuang, the first emperor of a unified China, would have likely seen himself as the "Son of Heaven," a title denoting the divine right to rule, used by emperors across various Chinese dynasties, not exclusively by Confucian adherents. Contrary to the claim of exclusive Confucian worship, this title was broadly applied irrespective of the ruling emperor's philosophical or religious leanings. Qin Shihuang is indeed known for his suppression of Confucianism, including the infamous burning of books and burying scholars alive, as part of his efforts to consolidate power around Legalist principles, which emphasized strict laws and centralized authority. His religious beliefs were complex, primarily centered on Legalism and the search for immortality, rather than a specific form of shamanism or the Bon religion. The reference to "the Seven Kingdoms of 'Easteros'" introduces fictional elements not pertinent to historical accounts. Qin's campaigns against Confucianism aimed at unifying China under Legalist governance, rather than targeting it as a "dangerous cult."
