    I honestly do not know what I would do without your videos. I started mixing and mastering from your videos when I was 17 and I'm 19 now, and I can honestly say 98% of what I know, I learned from your videos and you're seriously amazing man. You are really good at walking people through each and every little step! I plan on donating soon because it's honestly the least I could do. Please never stop making videos forreal!!

    Wow! I have always stepped back from using these options because I was unaware about them. But Thanks to you my man, you have made a great tutorial to help everyone out. 💯

    Thanks for all the killer tutorials. They've been very helpful in switching from an outdated version of Reason to Logic Pro.

    Very nice tip, thanks. Normally I don’t use those controls on the compressor, but I’m going to give it a try, for sure!

    Ah! Mute the source track to use the Listen function on the sidechain filter!!! Phewww.... The Logic manual doesn't even mention that and it was driving me nuts, as I couldn't hear the filter sweep doing anything, hahaha. Thank you so much! Excellent tutorial!

    Another use of the Logic comp sidechain function is to use it as a dynamic EQ "parametric sweep".. which is interesting it has it's own warm(ish) character.. try it.

    I know that in a video you touched on breaking up drum kits into 4 different channels. I was thinking it would be nice if you did a video on producer kits (where each of the drums are on their own separate channel strip). It took me ages to figure out where this was, and had to ask a bunch of people about this. Thought a lot of people might not know about it, and would like to know.

    I have an issue I need your help in. I have a MIDI keyboard and on only one key (CH 9 ) E key. It sustains any note played on it. How do I stop that?
    Also on the same keyboard (OCT-) F#. When I press on that key. The panel control pans out to -64. How do I stop that too. Thanks. Hope you can understand.

    cool i guess, but would be better if the filter affected the track with the compressor on it and not the sidechain source so you could for example make your kick only sidechain the low frequencies of your track leaving the upper frequencies un affected from ducking.

  • @rockostiffredi4276
    @rockostiffredi4276 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also a handy tip if you want to create a ducking delay on electric guitars, by putting a compressor plugin between guitar and delay effect

    • @jwester7009
      @jwester7009 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or a good idea is to stop killing music by using those awful compressors all the time. Everybody I know including myself want dynamic range not compression

    • @rockostiffredi4276
      @rockostiffredi4276 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      J Wester Not sure if you quite understood my meaning in regards to using a compressor for ducking guitar reverb. Ducking compression isn’t applied directly to the guitar sound Itself. It’s only applied BEFORE a seperate reverb on a seperate Aux Channel which is triggered independently from a send from the Guitar audio channel. It helps stop the dry guitar sound from getting washed out instantly by the reverb halo, and reverb is gradually added after the string is plucked. Dynamics are not affected whatsoever.

      @@rockostiffredi4276 Oh I see. It seems I'm barking up the wrong tree. This is how much I'm getting pissed of at compressors. Sorry for that

    one thing I've always hated was that my side chain would cause cracks and pops when ducking because the attack was too fast... but i see you have it pushed up to .5 or whatever making it kind of drown out the transient of the kick??

    • @MusicTechHelpGuy
      @MusicTechHelpGuy  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you pull up the attack time a bit it will get rid of that click.

    I have to say I really hate ducking effects with every fiber of my being. It completely destroys all music and takes it down to the lowest amateur level possible. Unfortunately it seems almost all so called "music producers" uses the same lame effect over and over. It's almost like they don't have the brain capacity to come up with new creative solutions themselves

      Thanks for sharing your feelings on ducking. They really matter to us all dearly.
