  • A couple years ago I went to Italy to check out the 1 Euro homes I heard about… I left as the owner of two homes in Mussomeli, a charming countryside village in Sicily.
    I have been covering the entire process on my channel, from the moment I started touring the euro homes on the market, then when I discovered the premium listings and found my dream properties, and finally all the renovations I’ve been doing to take these 400 year old homes into the 21st century.
    Now, my $5000 home is fully renovated and in today's video I’m sharing the final results of this property!

Before you start taping, hard swallow some water or tea, lick your lips and wipe ya teeth and lips with a clean paper towel, then put on a thin coat of lip balm. I love you and your show fam. 💪🏾❤️

      This should not be allowed to happen, these cheap houses are for people that intend to repopulate places that are dying they don’t need AirBNB’s

    • @Karl__Pierre
      @Karl__Pierre  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @margaretlovelock7031 let me explain simple market dynamics and educate you a bit on economics. This home was sold at market price meaning the demand is so low for said property that the home cost 5000. Additionally in order to prepare this home for airbnb I needed to renovate it using local contractors and furnish it producing sales and sales taxes locally. As an airbnb, it serves as a lodging location for people coming back to the town to either buy homes or visit families. This allows others to consider buying homes...while searching they need to eat, rent automobiles, socialize which again helps the local economy. Lastly the cleaners and management team that handles all things at the home get paid as well. So not only does the airbnb add to the local economy it serves as an example of what is possible for the families looking to relocate. Hope you learned something.

    I love the fact you left the old Terrazzo floor tiles and Marble stairs. It blends in very well with the new work in the kitchen and bathroom. Personally I don't like how someone will buy a house 100 or more years old then pull everything out and make it look so modern. Some of the history needs to be retained. You can have both. The front of the house looks fabulous too.

      It absolutely does help the neighborhood. It brings tourists who bring money. More buildings get revitalized. Or would you rather them fall apart? People don’t want to move there, hence the extremely cheap prices. There isn’t as much opportunity in Italy. This is the market that actually helps the neighborhood.

      @carolr7823 the reason why the town is dead because no one works there, and therefore wants to live there. Thats why property is cheap. Tourists coming brings money and therefore jobs, and saves the town. Airbnb is better than it being dead. Its up to the Spanish people to support their local community, hometowns and have children and build families.

    Hi. So glad I found your channel. Modernizing a period home or apartment is a pet peeve of mine, however, you pulled it off with class and style. The exterior work with the stones was beautifully done. Was there an opportunity to bring out an interior accent wall or two with the stones revealed? The home across the street is something I may be interested in. It is exactly the style and class I am seeking for. Am currently shopping for a home in Italy or in Scotland. If you have the opportunity to give us a walkthrough, please do so. I am quite curious about that home.

    Love the reno. Something to consider in the bathroom. You might want to add a towel rack on the door (suction cup style for the glass) on the shower. I dislike staying a place and I have to get completely out the shower or tub and go across the bathroom to reach my towel. I don't see a place to put a loofa/washcloth, bar soap or shower gel in the shower. Also, The floating vanity is great idea but there's not enough room to place your toilettes.

    You guys did an amazing job. May I offer some friendly advice regarding the Buddha statue? For people coming from Buddhist countries, it is considered bad manners to place it on the floor, even more so where there is a toilet.
    Also it is seen as disrespectful to have the statue in a place where you bathe because of the nudity. My wife is from Taiwan and while not particularly religious she has always been careful about the placement of any Buddha images in our home and would definitely see that bathroom as a dealbreaker when looking for accommodation. You could google the dos and don’ts about the placement of such images. Hope this helps and well done on your great work!

    Stop this air b and b thing. The idea of these cheap homes was to encourage people to live here and reproduce and raise a family. The population is aging and the young ones leave to cities for jobs, study and stuff. If everyone keeps buying homes for short term rentals for tourist the town would still remain isolated, depopulated and non tourism encouraged. I think the authorities there should sell to only people that would live there and maybe set out few homes for hotel which would be managed by the town.

    • @Karl__Pierre
      @Karl__Pierre  2 ปีที่แล้ว +355

      Hi Ogonna, Rather than telling people what they should do with their life and money to create the world you want how about trying to do the very things you are suggesting. Start a channel promoting life in these towns on a full time basis. Help people relocate. Become part of the local government and pass tyranical laws that match your point of view.
      Heres what i've done
      1) I have bought 2 homes and renvoated them creating jobs and tax revenue for the local government
      2) each tourists that visits comes to see this beautiful town, spend money, and consider relocating there
      3) Everytime a tourist comes, the rooms need to be cleaned and turned over which is also creating local jobs
      All these things actually benefit the community, arguably more so than a single family that relocates. What will that family do for revenue? Is that person going to be able to live their if there is no economic activity? You are clearly shortsided and biased.

      Thank you, I have gotten this feedback and I have debated this point. It seems inconsistent with Buddha's teachings. Respectfully who defined where and how an idol of Buddha should be managed? I feel the same about other religions and symbols of belief systems. I usually feel it's more about Catering to someone else's ideas than it has to actually do with the beleig system itself. I'm not saying this to be rude or disrespectful, nor was my placement of the Buddha intended to disrespect the legacy and the followers of his ways. If you can help me understand why this placement is so controversial I'm willing to try and understand and change my position
